  • Is it ironic that im Irish but an alcohol intolerant athiest?

  • @maccas1329 Not really. Not trying to give a short answer or anything but we're not all a bunch of alcoholic Catholics who hate the Brits and want to have Ireland as one united country. Just saying.

  • This song may single-handedly allow me to forgive Irish people for being dirty Catholics. Well it didn't but it's still a great song.

  • @CelticKraut burn in hell you penny-pinching scottish prick

  • THIS IS MUSIC OF THE GODS.BUT OF COURSE WHAT ELSE WOULD IT BE

  • 10 people voted for Summer...

  • @skjoldvall thats not true at all. Granted, the stereotype has been set that the irish are all alcoholics and the staunchest of catholics, but having come from an Irish family myself, I'd have to say that not only has liquor never been a problem for us but also, we're very productive, intelligent people. It was an irishman who translated beowulf and an irishman who discovered Boyle's Law. C'mon, do a little research.

  • People ask my "Why are you so sweaty?"

I respond with "I've been Dancing" Then take a quick swig of my gatorade.

  • @Skjoldvall well whatever it is your a racist cunt, and i'd like to meet you in an alleyway fucker.................

  • @StruanSkye I rather be drunk and happy than distinguished and miserable.

  • NAPOLEON DYNAMITE.. lol >.<

  • @Conor16

Thanks for uploading this! I can say without hyperbole that I've been looking for it for years!

  • it puts me a good mood

  • Gosh!!!

  • Who throws out perfectly good harmoniums?

  • @FantasticMaxPlastic

    A) people unable to comprehend that selling a harmonium is much more efficient than throwing it away

    B) people who wasted countless hours of practice only to discover they really suck a playing a harmonium

  • I enjoy tacos.

  • I have Mike Harding to thank for introducing me to this!

  • Thumbs up if you voted for Pedro.

  • NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!!!

  • This should replace Charlie's song when he found the golden ticket and starts running toward home but not stoping for slugworth, only flipping him off.

  • You know true fans of this song aren't annoying pricks, because you don't see any comments that say: "LIKE THIS SONG IF YOU KNEW IT BEFORE NAPOLEON DYNAMITE"

  • @Vallapalooza I always think it is interesting when people do that. Its like they are saying they are better for not getting it from whatever source they refer to. But that is how you discover new music, you hear it. Youre not just born with it.

  • Meh, the original is way better.

  • Does anyone have a good tab for this? I hate asking, but I've never been able to do it by ear.

  • @flimflam0069

I just got it done...arranged for mandolin or bouzouki. I have it in C...like the original Penguin Cafe version or in D like the Patrick Street version

  • In Memory of Clifford......RIP

  • 7 assholes go jump on a land mine :)

  • @spfann1 *facepalm*

  • i cant listen to this without the napoleon montage going through my head

  • Is anyone aware of the fact that this is based on a classical concept of a tonic to dominant to tonic key? Its a lovely bit of music….

    H

  • This sounds an awful lot like U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Any connection?

  • @kgshepard Music for a Found Harmonium was written before 1984, and since I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For came out in '87 I'd say:

About 3 years and whole classical music concept away. Dude U2 maybe be a great group, but these guys are Legends, nothing less, so much more.

  • @Jimmyceltic91 So if Music for a Found Harmonium came out 1st, was U2 influenced by Patrick Street?

  • @kgshepard I probably didn't make i clear, but Music for a Found Harmonium was composed by Simon Jeffes for the Penguin Cafe Orchestra after he found out a trashed harmonium as he was walking the streets. Patrick Street made a cover of it for the movie Napoleon Dynamite.

But answersing your question, i don't really think there is any connection between the original Music for a Found Harmonium.

  • @Jimmyceltic91 Patrick Street recorded this song in 1990.

  • @fleminnj Right, but the original Music for a Found Harmonium dates back from 1984 by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

  • @Jimmyceltic91 very well said

  • go ahead and not smile....i dare you...every body wins in the end. even NAPOLEAN

  • one of my favourite songs.. reminds me of movies i used to watch about magic elves and elliot the kid.

  • I want to learn to play the guitar JUST for this song!

  • Comment removed

  • This was originally written by Simon Jeffes after he found a thrown out Harmonium in an alley in Kyoto (Japan). Anyone else think that's a beautiful way for a song to be created?

  • @Mattnumbers It's the most perfect one

  • @Mattnumbers

That's nothing, you should hear his song "Improvisational Percussion on the Discovered Skull of a Dead Hobo (Live in Moscow)"

You know, for all his musical talent, he wasn't much for song names.

  • @Mattnumbers If Mr. Jeffes found it in an alleyway, then it isn't very original is it? It's a good song nonetheless.

  • @teckforce37 he found the harmonium, not the song.

  • This was at the end of Michael Moore's film. Awesome song for an awesome ending.

  • this song makes me want to go accomplish something lol

  • Words are fantastic

  • i have good times when i hear this song

  • kip waits

  • This song is in Captialism: A Love Story and in Naopleon Dynamite

  • Whe you see the different versions of this tune on the rights isde of the screen you can see how music transends all gaunre and style, from the Penguin Cafe to the Ozzie xylaphones, but this is one of my favorite versions from a great band

  • it has bwwn said that music has no physical influenece on a person. A Phd have not I, however, I do have common sense, and common sense dictates to me that I cannot help but to feel over whelming happiness when i hear this. Thank you for posting. Peace to you and yours.
