I remember when they invited my irish step dance troupe to come and perform with them on stage, because our teacher knew them from college or something and got them to our town <3 they told the best stories XD I love them forever!!
ok ok sure an it is a great song, but you must remember that not all Irishmen are drinkin men, lol lol I know of at least one in Limerick for sure. Still this is a grand pub song as well as the sequel "Don't Drink 'em Dry" at least I think that is the title. Am on my third Guiness and 2 shots of Bushmill's Irish Whiskey. So not to sure of anything at this point in time.
I was doing a music project when I came across what was called "Celtic Rock" and saw a favourite band of mine, Great Big Sea, sitting in that category. So, I decided to choose that genre to do. When it came to other artists under that genre, though, I didn't know any others, so I searched the first one that looked interesting, and this is what I found.
gaelic storm, a couple songs from third eye blind, and my fav anime bleach, makes my days off worth rolling out of bed. i fucking love these guys, im in a perpetual great mood :)
PSHHHH you...you're all...you're all PANSIES tha.....wuz me twenty-seventh....wait, waht? ......ah who...cares MORE BEER!! (we're out dipstick u drank it all) oh...well....i wan'....moah....BEER *thud...* (all in background start singing the BEER RUN song {beeh-double-eeh-double-arr-you-enn beer run, BEER RUN!})
@zyldyks hey. they're irish, they're pretty much perpetually stoned. *.* the only part that i don't get is the random Lets go Shiela. makes me wonder, Who the hell's Shiela?
Half of me is saying Well of course he died of thirst! Alcohol is drying, he needs hydrating fluids, preferably water... And the other half is saying, Oh, Johnny. What a badass. What an Irishman.
All that booze and he still dies of thirst? That's a true irishman for you! And I can say that because I'm Irish. I can remember being six years old with my father on the couch drinking a beer. Me and my brothers would say to him, "Just a sip dad please." And he would say, "Oh all right, here yah go, now bugger off yah daft rugrats."
I had my 19th birthday in Dublin, Eire vs Egypt in the cup that day too... 2 damn good reasons to get pissed... i remember the first 12 pints and shot of whiskey... apparently we spent another 2 hours in the pub... unfortunately I DO remember the next day :P. I only weighed 125lbs at the time.
Me being IRISH I love the music...I mean I always picture the bar erupting in singing this music...this happened wit my fav band Dropkick Murphys besides these boys...if they played this band in bars THIS WOULD HAPPEN!!
@abean16 Amen to that. Titanic came on last night and I suffered through the movie until the scene Gaelic Storm is in. When it was over I hit the rack. Seen Gaelic Storm 3X. Can't wait to see them again!!!!
@ExcelsiorW I will absolutely look up Dick Gaughan. I actually have a particularly soft spot in my heart for Scots. To the extent that I ken some Scots (language) & a bit of Scottish Gaelic. What I meant when I said Gaelic Tom Waits wasn't the quality of his voice but the lyrics. The fact that they both tell stories about a certain type of person. As 4 NC&TBS, this song reminded me of a murder ballad. Only it's not a ballad. It's a jig. It's a murder jig. I love that. That's irony.
@tjburroughs Na, no Celtic Tom Waits here. Dick Gaughan is the Celtic Tom Waits. The tobacco rattles in his throat and the whiskey gurgles in his sinuses! He's Scottish. You should look 'im up.
I always thought of this band as good.. .until yesterday. I was going to see their concert in Northampton and I saw them arguing with a waitress in a small Thai restaurant there. The band refuses to pay for the food they already ate, saying that the food was slow. It was slow alright, about 30 minutes wait.. but the place was FULL! You can complain but really, don't you guys have the decency to at least pay for your food. You guys must be REALLY poor if you can't even afford that.
@vevolight Yo I was there, too! What a small world! I remember there were 7 of them. To dine and dash or even thinking about dine and dash is so wrong on so many level. The same goes for using excuses to not pay for food you already ate. I saw the waitress come and apologize so many times. The manager was definitely there, too. I couldn't believe what I saw. Man, what a disappointment. Totally lost respect for them.
"but even if you saw it yourself you wouldn't believe it.. I wouldn't trust a person like me if I were you. True I wasn't there, I swear I has and alibi. I heard it from a man who knows a fella who says its true!" ... brilliant!!
@MrCrakerjack64 You're aware that the word is actually thirst, and it's the whole accent/rhyming thing that makes him say it like that? He probably put it as such in the lyrics so as to avoid confusing people.
