Joe Hockey is, physically, a HUGE man. Very unhealthily obese, uber-bloated & ugly, with a bullfrog-neck, & a smarmy, smirky, whining, whingeing media style to match .. what a voter turn-off. If Hockey was one of those old-time classic TV Detective / PI type characters .. and he had cornered 8 or 9 crooks .. he wouldn't need help .. HE COULD SURROUND THEM HIMSELF !! Here's a guy who's had TOO MANY long lunches at taxpayers' expense.
JOE Hockey the Political fool that is up there with all the other political fools like Brendan Nelson & that idiot liar Howard is now setting a NEW level of stupidity. Not only is his math so poor that the idiot can’t add up ( yet he’s the shadow treasurer ) but added to this he decided to have it out with Abbot on the phone because he felt he was made to look bad. Hockey, NOONE is making you look like a fool, you do that job just fine. Idiot! I hope you’re sacked.
@MegaFrogzor You're a fucking idiot. Taxing a company a little bit more that makes more on OUR coal isn't socialist, its common sense.
We have lots of socialized things, health, cops, fire, etc. We should get rid of them? What Liberal wants to do IS redistribution of wealth, from the middle class to the wealthy. And you're falling for it.
@MegaFrogzor I mean jesus christ, I knew the Americans were loose with that word, I didn't think it happened in our country. Theres nothing soclialist about higher taxes you mong. I know Liberal have taught you that it is, all in an attempt to have their rich donors keep more of their money.
Lindsay Tanner effectively wants all mining companies executives to be lined up outside his door, begging for handouts and tax breaks. This way, he can leverage them to do favours for Labor.
Joe Hockey wants Government to stay out of the picture as much as possible.
effective nationalisation? the guy in the audience is such an idiot. nationalisation is government ownership. how the hell is taxing an industry nationalising it?
i just find it funny how this super mining tax was blown out of proportion by the mainstream media, and now that the election is over every one is shut up. i think its obvious who mainstream papers and media's want in power. the mining tax will not send companies away it will simply cut into the overwhelming profits made by the mining companies
@Wallabytrack Omg I have been trying to figure out the Joe Hockey thing, he's so smug and talks like a dofus. Can't believe he holds so much responsibilty.
"Joe Hockey is a Used Car Salesman....Trying....hard to be something he will never be."
Nah, Tanner's kind of being a bit disingenuous here. There actually isn't a contradiction between saying "mining companies will leave the country" and "those mining companies that continue to operate in Australia run the risk of making a loss, the Government will be forced to write out taxpayer's cheques to those companies." It's a massive industry. Tanner's twisting his words; he's full of shit, but it's clever politics, I'll give him that.
Rudd should do what Putin did in Russia, kick out the billionaires and nationalise the resource sector, despite what the critics said the resource sector in Russia is stronger now than what it was when privately owned, same would appy to Australia.
Get some balls Rudd and do whats right for the nation.
you know what, at least hockey has the guts to go on tv or radio or wherever and have a debate unlike swannie. tanner should be treasurer after the next election
This is all bullshit communism. I admit I was taken in by the ideology at first, but when I thought about it more, it's just using the deception of an apparent class warfare as a sale pitch to get their hands on more tax to cover up their shit for the election. The big miners already pay tax -43% in total. This would lift it to 58% - the highest tax on mining of any federal government. What is most likely to result is that they collect no more total tax, but lose jobs as companies go off shore.
@germanicelt You never understood social stratification apparently. That explains why your "thinking" about it was too hard and so you defer trusting a handful of noisy billionaires with the clearest conceivable vested interest in contributing less to the country then it takes; not more. Regurgitating their propaganda to the detriment of Australia and every working family because they will rely on super. The success of their campaign is a testament to economic and political illiteracy here.
@Tuathalful Ah a trouble maker, or should I say agitator.
I don't trust a handful of "noisy billionaires" as you put it (what terrible people) but I certainly don't trust the ALP. Do you really believe that they are doing this because they believe it is good for the People, or is it just good for their power? Why come up with it just now? If you're to be honest you would realize that they are doing this to get the money they missed out on with the ETS to fund a glossy re-election campaign.
Thank you Tanner; a voice of relative reason and integrity. Joe Hockey was pathetic, more spin, selective analysis full of omissions, a reflection of how beholden to mining industry tyoons and bosses the Liberal Party are; they have recieved over a million dollars so far in donations from Clive Palmer alone. Hockey is willing to put the interests of a wealthy donar minority ahead of the national interest. And don't forget, this will be world's best practise; other countries will follow our lead.
oh yeah tanner is brilliant, he spent his life as a union stooge so hes great at masquerading as someone that has a clue. he is going to loose his own seat at next election the way things are going so do us all a favour and spare us the glorification of this stooge.
@shimmady You clearly have no clue mate. His involvement in trade unionism reflects his principled integrity; we know what he stands for. We have to guess what Hockey stands for, it's obvious, but he's too twofaced to just say, 'mining bosses are paying us off to sabtage this reform (that might hurt them a little short term but really isn't a big worry). But if we can use fearmongering to gain power we will, and then we'll have free reign to govern for the wealthy and rightwing above all' :P
@fakta15 haha well labor will certainly loose inner melbourne now. tanner is gone one way or another - guess my fantasy is reality. and your fantasy would be what old timer?? some place where tanner i asn elected MP next term? nice foresight buddy.
