  • i cant imagine how much fun it must've been to shoot this movie

  • STROOOOKE! STROOOOKE!!!!

  • @LilLizzie94 i think im gonna have one

  • Oh boy!!! Seriously, why should people use a musical to argue about religion?! It's a show, just enjoy it! Plus, having faith is a good thing... it doesn't really matter what you have faith in... some people choose Jesus... some people choose something else... I don't really believe in Christianity, yet I preach the lessons taught in the bible... I'm taught those lessons at a very young age...

  • @Golritz It doesn;t matter what you have faith in?

I urge you to research what different faiths actually say - not what you imagine them to say...

Christianity - you are precious but flawed...

Hindu - your individuality is an illusion 'you' nee to get over...

    Very different claims...

  • When I see the then-young WTC, I get shivers...

  • Christianity is NOT a religion , it's a Belief in a Man, a Man who was God in the flesh - He is the Lord Jesus Christ - Who rose from the dead - He is God our Saviour!

  • @Jany1954 I am sure you mean God our SAVIOR... spelling "saviour" the old way isn't any holier... neither are phrases like "believe ON the Lord Jesus Christ"...

  • @shmuli9 - SAVIOR is the US English spelling of the word for "a person who helps people achieve Salvation" - SAVIOUR is the UK English spelling

  • @actif1 Thank you SO much for telling me that, since everyone who uses YouTube MUST live in the United States, of course. Those 170 other countries don't really exist online...

  • *High squeaky voice* I said KILL IT!

  • jesus is one hundred percent real...ask urself was julius caezer real, yes jesus is sooooooooooooo real

  • i sing this song in my skools musical

  • There talking about in Book of Luke in Chapter 15 and verse 11-31

    (Luke 15:11-31)

  • come on guys, no fighting

  • I'm narrating this parable and am playing the father as Sean Connery.

I don't know why I'm sharing this. It just seems to be what people comment on Godspell videos.

  • For your brother here was dead and has come back to life.

    Metaphorically speaking.

  • Though he can't sing, Jerry Sroka is so adorable throughout this movie.

  • flying, who do you believe is the greatest prophet? I'd have to give it to the Lord Jesus Christ - after all, He was God in the Flesh !!

  • Who likes Jefferey?

    I do.

  • Jeffrey is my favorite. I wish they would have put "We Beseech Thee" in this movie.

  • @timberwolf84 I do too. Can't believe he, and 3 of the others, Have died already =(

  • @timberwolf84 How can you not like Jeffery :)

  • @timberwolf84 he is my character in my show

  • @timberwolf84

I like him a lot! Hes really good :)

  • i so want to get one of the mickey mouse shirts he is wearing

  • Good things, good things, yeah! YOU are the LIGHT of the World!!!

  • I love how during the film scene part with the girls "Learn Your Lessons Well" is the background musicc.

I get to sing that in my schools musical. It's my favorite song next to " On the Willows"

  • yeah and I think it's cool that We Beseech Thee is at 2:29

  • I love when Jesus covers his eyes! Haha! And pretty much from 2:50 on :)

  • i love this part

  • 1:05 to 1:08 funniest line in the movie!

  • 4:16 poor david. lol

  • i siad kill it **skeeky** lol

  • fav part: "them's my boys." FUNNY

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART!!! ZOMG!

  • david haskell wins for best costume EVER

  • i cant understand what the lawa nd the prophets are? someone please repeat them (:

  • You need a Bible Study, tiny - it's complex

  • The Law = 10 Commandments

    Prophets = Daniel, Isiah, etc.

The Prophets of the Old Testament gave details of the role & purpose of the coming Messiah (Jesus). In His life & ministry He fulfilled all these prophecies. He also was obedient to the Law, including all religious customs of the Jews.

He did not come to wipe away all that was in Scipture, (Law & Prophetic books), but to fulfill them - and personify them as a living example.

  • Odd that a 'merciful' god devotes 3 'commandments' to worship of him/herself while forgetting all about slavery. Especially one who had just 'delivered' the 'chosen people' out of Egyptian slavery. And what do you know, Jesus forgets too. How much more of a definition of totalitarian control do people need?

  • @blackmore4: Obviously theology isn't your strong suit, but unfortunately neither is logic or common sense. If you actually try reading the Bible, you'll see that the positive commands well outweigh the negative. Instead of devoting rule after rule to what NOT to do, Jesus taught us to love God first, and love our "neighbor" (in other words, everyone) like ourselves. If you do this, you WON'T end up making them slaves (or murdering, raping, or any other rule you think you need.)

  • Just like your 'faith', your derogatory assumptions are based on nothing. I'm well aware that your belief in subservience to mind control by an entity you are commanded to both love and fear is key to membership of your chosen cult but to view it as a "positive" is something you ought to get used to having challenged. Though it was wise of Jesus to underline it, if the human race hadn't "loved their neighbour" 1000's of years before his arrival we'd never have made it out of Africa.

  • I prefer to "love my neighbour" 1st, if it's all the same to you but I'm happy to leave the god-love to yourself, your cult & the various other competing monotheistic clubs... as long as you behave. In other words, the tide has turned & no longer will you be accorded the 'respect' you've taken for granted for too long if you continue lying to children (especially with regard to creationism), blowing yourselves up in public, causing the spread of AIDS in Africa... etc etc

  • Your definition of 'humanist' ("superiority") is so flawed as to render your question meaningless.

Let the dictionary correct you... Humanist = A belief in the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasizing common human needs and seeking solely rational ways of solving human problems.

I think that conclusively answers your morality question. If you still think that morality is impossible without belief in superstition, then I can only direct you to the dictionary entry for 'logic'.

  • There is no conclusive evidence for the existence of Jesus or his disciples and certainly none whatsoever for his rising from the dead but, in the interests of debate, Im willing to go along with you up to the 'resurrection'. At very best, he was a revolutionary philosopher. Nothing new about his various philosophies (see Socrates, Dionysius, Buddha etc) but gathering together the fruits of up to a quarter of a million years of human morality under one banner an admirable achievement.

  • On the contrary, -any- historian will agree that Jesus existed without a doubt. For example, Josephus, one of the most widely recognized historians and an agnostic, openly said that there was no denying the fact that Jesus Christ walked this earth. Although his divinity cannot be proven, the fact that he existed is a well known FACT that cannot be accurately denied by anyone, regardless of your religious views.

  • @PlEaSiNgThEjUdGeS How can we prove he even existed? I doubt there are birth records, censuses, photographs, etc. of him.

I mean, really, what do we have that gives claim to his existence besides one big book?

  • You can't deny that he's not real. He IS real. Even atheists know that he DID exist. That's like saying that George Washington didn't exist!

  • @volleyballchampion Not really. There are fairly decent records showing George Washington's existence. And even still, there is the possibility that he was not a real person, but the complex fabrication of others, like people have theorized with famous people like Euclid and Shakespeare.

There's even less proof that Jesus existed.

  • So? IT'S CALLED HAVING FAITH.

  • @volleyballchampion Who's talking about faith? I thought we were talking about things existing within a certain degree of certainty. Believing things exist and things actually existing are two completely separate things.

  • Even if there isn't any decent records showing His existence, you just believe. It's part of believing, because if you don't, you'll end up in hell. If you don't believe in Jesus at all that's fine, but it's what I believe in and many other Catholics.

  • @volleyballchampion But that's not proof, which we were discussing. Having proof and having faith are two completely separate (and often opposite) things.

Also, I wouldn't want to believe in a god that chooses to condemn those who simply choose to exercise their free will and their brain.

(Not saying all religious people are idiots, but all atheists have done is think about their world and their place in it.)

  • There are records and that's all I have to say!

  • @volleyballchampion Then show me the records. Otherwise, your Messiah is nothing but a character in a really big, really old book.

  • If you don't believe in Jesus that's fine with me. It's not like I'm going to hate on atheists or anything.

  • @volleyballchampion You just said we're all going to hell. That sounds like a teeny bit of hatred to me.

    Good job showing me proof.

  • Sorry I didn't really mean for it to sound that way.

  • @volleyballchampion we are called to love and pray for wrongdoers, atheists, and people who don't believe in the word. not start an uprising. christians should be the kindest people on earth. God uses everyone. This musical was written by non-christians and think about how many lives it has changed.

  • @Ryanthe0man Yeah that's why I wasn't trying to make my point rude '_'

  • @Izzy41630

If you cared to open this "one big book", you would see that the reason that Jesus and his family went to Bethlehem was for the census. Each famly went to the hometown of the man of the family, in this case, Joseph.

And I'm pretty sure there aren't photographs. It was kinda sorta 2000 years ago. Hmm.

  • @PlEaSiNgThEjUdGeS Photographs. Their non-existence is kind of a given, isn't it?

And where are the records of this census? I haven't seen it. Have you?

  • @Izzy41630

Please don't say that what we believe is just a character in a book. That's demeaning our religion and just asking for people to retort. Do you really must have proof? One of the things we are taught is that seeing is not beliveing. I know it's a hard concept to grasp and that most people are hypocrites about what they believe. If you don't believe, that's your opinion. I'll try to help you understand, but in the end it all comes down to what you choose to believe. Please don't rant.

  • @blackmore4 "Humanist = A belief in the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasizing common human needs and seeking solely rational ways of solving human problems."

Where does this "goodness of human beings" come from? According to Darwin and Evolutionary thought humans are essentially cosmic accidents. What purpose to "survival of the fitest(sic?)" does goodness play? Where in the DNA is it? Morality is not logical for survival of humans but many strive for it. Why?

  • In a historical sense, "The Law and the Prophets" technically refer to the Scriptures, with the 'Law' referring to the Torah - the first five books of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible - and the 'Prophets' referring to, well, the prophetic books.

19lfm12 already gave a very good commentary about it so I won't repeat.

  • Collegekidgirl is right- "Light of the World" rocks! Good things, good things, good things, good things yeah!

  • College kid, in a way , He is a "regular person". He felt amd lived everything we do - so He knows what we go through. But He was more than a "regular person" - He was the Son of God, which makes Him unique :)
