Lennox Lewis himself once said that his hunger motivated him more than the money and if he fights on, he will fight only for money and he doesn't want to. What does he have to prove after beating a young Vitali when he is fat, old and totally unprepared? Would anyone think a prepared Lewis would lose to Vitali? A rematch against Vitali would result in another victory for Lewis. Yeah, what's the point? If Vitali continued fighting after the 7th round, his career would have ended right there!

And what most people don't know was that Lennox & Tyson signed a 2 fight deal back then. So Lennox desperately wanted another payday and give Tyson a rematch. But Mike didn't want one right away or one at all. So Lennox elected to fight Kirk Johnson, who got injured. Vitali stepped in....their fight warranted a rematch by HBO and Lennox had no choice but to retire or face Vitali again.

They were both like 16-17 when that happened. Lennox is 6'5, 245 lbs!! Mike is listed at 5'11, but he's more like 5'9!! Mike had more ability. Once Lennox reached his mid-30s, he mastered the use of his physical advantages of size & reach. He stopped slugging and became an effective, BUT boring-ass fighter!! Vitali has those advantages too, but at least he shows alot of heart. All Lennox did was bitch about not being considered better than Ali during the last 3 yrs of his career.

Only fights that were boring were the Tua fights cos Tua couldn't do zip and the Holyfield fights.

Actually his fight against Mercer was his best fight, which could've gone either way. I had that a draw. I was at the Briggs and Grant fights. I was a big fan of Lennox back then, even after the 2 boring Holyfield fights. Then he got really tired of the sport and turned arrogant. I dont think he was the best since he had so many physical advantages against the other heavyweights. Plus, he got KTFO twice with ONE PUNCH by medicore fighters. Once the K bros entered the division, he left.

A technical win by Lewis. A fight he was losing, but then he complained that he only had 2 weeks to prepare like he was the only one that had to prepare in short notice. Then he refused Vitali a rematch. Lennox was smart. He knew he escaped one. But don't expect the boxing community to respect Lennox and believe that he really won that fight. Only him and his fans recognize the win. No one else in boxing does and that fight made Vitali a star.

Lennox has more natural ability than Vitali for sure. I don't claim that Vitali is better, but Lennox acted like Vitali didn't deserve a rematch. Please!! He escaped. But Vitali never got KO'd from one punch by mediocre opponents. In fact Vitali's KO ratio is crazy! Vitali throughout his career has always been all class, whereas Lennox for the last 3 yrs of his career wasn't at all.
