I have 1 WGSDXWhite Sibe (3 1/2) and 1 White Sibe ( a rescue almost 6) both are pretty darn good at not running away, but we have to pick and chose when and where. Both are not fence jumpers or diggers thank god!!! But we do have them out at a minimum of 3 hours a day...some days one walk will be 2 hours alone, we also do mountian biking with them at our cottage and kick bicking in the city...starting a wee bit of sled training last winter, hope to a lot more this winter. Gotta keep them tired!

They generally stay off the other furniture, but at this point, if I'm not quick enough inviting them into bed, they'll stomp their paws and/or bark at me until I have seen the error of my ways.

@DTheDeviI Huskies are notorious escape artists. You have to keep them on leash, or make sure your yard is very secure. Mine would jump over a 4-foot fence. When I raised it to 6 they would dig under. Buyring a shallow moat of concrete and chicken wire around the fence line finally put an end to it.

@DTheDeviI I had a malemute and a husky. Running away was the ever present risk. Personally, I think they need to play to exhaustion daily. I'd imagine obedience school is helpful as well...in addition to the comments already provided. Good luck!

It's amazing. Scientists say that the Siberian Husky isn't any closer to the Wolf genetically than a Chihuaha but the way these two beautiful Sibes are communicating is EXACTLY how wolves communicate with eachother. My theory is that Siberians are closer to Wolves in that they are more purely descended from Wolves than other breeds.

We have an 11.5 year old White Sibe, he was a save for us. Had him since 8 mos old. I find it amazing that they can run for hours, but when in the house, where do they want to sleep? On the cold hard floor? OF COURSE NOT! On my pillow!! Gotta luv yur husky!! And they are a dog that needs a tremendous amount of patience, best breed in the world, friendliest breed in the world, but you gotta be ready for one!

To generalize, boys might be a little more goofy and crazy, and girls a little more standoffish. But if it's your first husky I'd say age selection is more important than gender selection... would definitely recommend an adult for a first-time husky owners, as the puppies are often extremely high-maintenance---moreso than most puppies even.
