Love how he romantically flaunts the fact that he made a record in his garage but glosses over the loaded API console, Studer tape machines, some of the sluttiest microphones and instruments the world knows, BUTCH VIG, Pultecs, and a rack of Neve 1073s. Rule of thumb...when you are at the point of using tt patchbays and mogami cables it has ceased to be a garage recording. I like the new record but don't act like its not a $250K record because you have at least twice that in gear and build out.

I wish we could all be in the position to spend $350 for a roll of tape that gives you only 30 minutes of recording, but the fact is it's not practical anymore.

And I HAVE recorded to tape, so I think I'm qualified to assess the difference in MUSICIANSHIP when recording to tape vs digital. That was my point. That being said, it's pretty clear you've never heard the difference that recording to tape makes for tracking drums. If you had, you certainly wouldn't be railing about so-called "purists". You'd be one yourself.
