people in favour of win7 are usually people new to computers or teenagers. I've used both xp and 7 and, big woopy fucking doo, 7 is 4 seconds quicker on bootup, yet once you get that far, you realize how slow 7 is at everything else. and that was a same spec pc. I went back to XP.

@vegunited06 Then get better hardware. I have a 3GHz core 2 Duo E8400 stock, an nvidia 550ti, and 4 gigs ram and have no problem with Windows 7. When you have proper hardware, it blows the doors off of Windows XP. If you have XP installed on a high spec computer, then you are wasting your money. I am neither a teen nor am I new to computers.

Windows 7 is a very good system. I would recommend it for most computers, old and new. Unless a specific hardware has compatibility issues or you don't have enough ram, win 7's your man.

XP is a lot stabler. 7 is all about appearance where as xp is time tested and supports all softwares where as 7 can hardly support a handful of applications. If you are a software tester then you would still appreciate xp because it has become the base of computing! XP rules and will continue to rule! They tried vista but it fell on its face! XP has stood the test of time!

The reason why the glowing Windows logo boot screen isnt displayed on this is because Microsoft is using new technology to make the boot screen brighter, clearer, displayed in more colours and animated. This new boot screen is displayed in 1024x768 resolution and most Netbooks do not support this resolution so Microsoft has left the Vista boot bar to be displayed on any lower resolution monitor as a replacement.

I know that since Windows XP allows me on my Eeepc 1005HA to pick that resolution but it wont in Windows 7 even with the drivers also that is only allowed within WIndows XP because of the graphics drivers. At boot, Windows 7 will presume that the native resolution of the display is at 1024x600 which is lower so it would show the alternative screen instead. Ive disapled the graphical boot anyway so I dont see any logos just a list of the drivers and the Windows version number.

@jdcresswell I meant to say that Windows XP will allow that resolution without the graphics drivers but after driver installation, that resolution is not the one Windows will use by default which is the displays native 1024x600. 1024x768 is only an option that the user can choose to 'extend' the display but for me its bearly readable. Im presuming after driver installation in Windows 7 1024x768 becomes unavailable for use even if the user wants it. At least its like that for me.

I did a test with XP and Windows 7 and XP booted 6 seconds faster than Vista. I was using a VERY powerful computer for my test, maybe that's what affected the results.
