I never cared for this show as a kid, but that THEME! Dang! It's probably the most epic orchestration ever to blare out of TV speakers during a children's show. It's like the ultimate musical embodiment of the concept of "adventure." =)
The music from this always got me as psyched as a seven year old can get. Then we watched a documentary on editing in film class last year and a clip from The Sea Hawk played with theme music the exact same as this. It brought back good memories.
god i miss this show tooooooooooo much. i love all the peter pan version, disney, hook, 2003 movie, hoping to like the one on syfy this dec. but this is the best peter pan ever. just seemed so more realistic than all the others. the lost boys arent wearing animal costumes, hook isnt a goofy rip off, peter isnt wearing that bright green outfit, wendy voice isnt bugging me, and tinker bell could talk
I saw three episodes of Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates and I have to say that this series is more realistic than other Peter Pan films and thanks to Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic) for give us good explaination. I still watching that show and theme song is pretty awesome, I still gonna keep this song for catchy theme all the time! :D
When I was a kid I saw the "Unico in the Island of Magic" movie. Traumatized me for weeks. I was terrified the puppet inside the eye of the rocking horse with the rocket fingers was going to get me or turn my parents into building blocks.
@FOXsPeterPan Yes, I am aware of your channel. The episodes you host are the ones I copied from my VHS tapes. I have the originals as well as newer, higher quality copies.
@FOXsPeterPan Yup, they showed up on the net about a year or so after I gave a copy to some friends. I can tell they are the copies I made cus I know where all the errors are. Not that I mind. I'm glad others can see this show and I have no way to host them myself so this works out. If you want to help me out, just direct people who visit your channel to my website where they can sign a little petition I have going. If I get enough signatures I'll pass it onto Disney. Let me know if that's okay.
It's funny how that happens, isn't it? 12 years ago I rescued some old 1991 Sesame Street episodes from being taped over by "Survivor" by a family I used to babysit for, made some copies for someone a few years later, and now one of those episodes is on YouTube---complete with the glitches in the same spots. Even if I hadn't originally been the only person to have that episode, the glitches give it away as being originally from my tape. Ah, the wonders of the YouTube age. XD
Anyone know where I can get the soundtrack for this? I liked the theme song but not the sound effects they added. I know the effects went with the opening video, but they don't make sense by themselves. Anyone know if a CD was ever released with the full soundtrack?
@Sprocketman Ah, so it is true. Man, that really rough. Disney is not likely to be easily moved. I really need a serious plan if I am going to appeal to them. I think (although I cannot be sure) that they want their version of Peter Pan to be "the one."
I went to see the 360 version of the play and in the entrance way they have images of various incarnations of Peter Pan and I was hugely disappointed to see that they omitted the Fox's version.
@kumichozz Given how obscure the show is to the general public, it's not terribly surprising.
Your only real hope would be a DVD box set for the UK: several Fox Kids shows received complete box-sets over there that never did here, but even that happened a good five or six years ago.
*If* Disney do own the rights, then, well, good luck to you: as fans of Disney shows can attest, they're pretty much unmoved when it comes to fans or fandoms.
@kumichozz ...and of course after posting that I check your link and find that it was released in France. See what I mean? Europe or bust when it comes to these sort of things. Is it French-only?
@Sprocketman Yeah, French only, and it's not even the entire series. I would gladly buy another region version provided it had an English track and was all 65 eps.
@kumichozz Yeah, England basically dropped the ball on that one. Shame. But the fact that it's a Jetix DVD proves that yes, Disney does own the rights. Honestly, the only hope at this point would be to petition Maximum Entertainment, the company that produces and distributes Jetix DVDs and import that, because...well, they're a lot more charitable than Disney's US branch ever was.
I remember the animation being so sharp. It also reminds me of Little Nemo. Interestingly enough, TMS Entertainment was one of the animation studios responsible for some episodes.
Having read the book recently I can say that, having also watched the show as a kid, it kept the spirit of the book far better than a lot of other interpretations of these characters.
no, the family guy one is not this EXACT song, but its pretty obvious it was the basis. its a little joke for those of us that would get it. i made a video response so you can judge for yourself
They showed this intro in the UK when they aired it. The one episode I remember back then isn't all too clear, but I remember alot of mud. Neverland went into disrepair because Tink was ill, or something.
Yeah, I saw that clip too! It was really a very close match. They barely changed it at all. It was kind of annoying but it was also great to to think somewhere out there in the wide world of cartoon shows still being produced, someone remembered this show.
anyone else notice that they "borrow" this song in the episode of family guy when peter is a pirate and attacking the other car? talk about an obscure reference!
This show was awesome. I remember watching it on Saturday morning when Fox still had programming for kids. I preferred it to the all too cute Disney films.
Damn this used to be my show

@kumichozz Given that Disney purchased the entire Fox Kid's library back in 2001, that's pretty likely.
Gotta be honest, you've got an uphill battle if you want to see this again.
