He about choked.... haha I don't know if because it's a strange song to request for a funeral of if because he didn't even know that I was familiar with this song. • I saw one of the brothers play at a place called "The Roadhouse" in Chicago in the 90's

  • So does he say, "throw the fuck fuck bucket down?" He certainly does in their reunion rendition of this song, recorded recently (do a youtube search) Fucking great tune, great guitar.

  • Every time I hear this i picture the tallest, lankyest guy with a huge adams apple =P

  • Typo---the longest pronounced WORD in musical history is the word PAY in this song....

  • The longest prounounced song in musical history is the word "pay" i wont accept your pay.

  • When I hear this song these days, visions of Nancy Grace dance across my brain.

    It's not a pretty sight. :)

  • Ya'll who've met a southern mule (gray, white muzzle, stubborn as all get out), will dance around to this rendition of Mule Skinner Blues; meanwhile those poh transplanted souls such as I to California can only recall these amazin' memories! Hey, where's that li'l water boy...and his Nehi soda????????

i figure from such a creative group

but i completely forgot about their version of Jailhouse rock.

  • @CodyKhaos I uderstand - - - I was just messin' with ya . . . If you're listening to the Cramps and Fenderman you're OK in my book!

  • What is a muleskinner?

  • They called themself "The Fenderman" because they both played Fenders and they both played out of one amp!!

  • @toploadertele Mules were stubborn, and in the old days, some men were especially good at controlling them or prodding them on. Mule teams were used to haul goods instead of horses because they had better footing on difficult mountainous trails.

  • @governorsid1

The particular reference in this song, is the muyle teams which pulled ore wagons in the mining trails. The fendermen was so named by themselves, after the fender sponsored equipment they played. fender guitars and amps. They were a duo.

  • @governorsid1 They got the best traits from their parents (horse/donkey hybrid). They're less likely to step in holes, can get by on less than ideal fodder. People made the mistake of facing them and trying to get them to move forward - a sure way to make an equine stop in their tracks. lol

  • @governorsid1 montainous / bad traction grounds, like stone / sand. Excellent explanation of yours.

  • Oh my goodness. I had forgotten the "cha cha cha" at the end. Love it!!!!

  • awesome song i have this on record my parents played this kind of stuff my whole childhood and it is definately my fav

  • @mom091977 same here

  • Weird but very catchy song. Everything about this songs suggests it should flop, but I can't help singing everytime I hear it. Great song.

  • So glad I found this. I have always loved it.

  • This is a great song. It is the second time that I played it 100****

  • I Think The Cramps' Version is by Far the Loudest and most entertaining. Check it out some time if you don't believe me :)

Have a good one keep enjoying RNR while it's still there!! I know I Will be!

  • CHA CHA CHA!!!

  • I love this song it takes me back to when I was a little kid.

My uncle and dad used to play this song together around the house when I was a kid.

They would sit in the living room playing the song on their fenders and they where so good, I thought this was my dad and uncle playing until I was 8.

  • These guys fuckin rage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ha ha hee hee... love it!

  • crazy tune , infectious to say the least ahead of its time just love it

  • I see the Fender Telecaster being used again...ha ha, ehh ha ha ha ! ! ! Great song!

  • Singer definitely says, "go fuck yourself" at 1:57

  • @tang0manana What he's saying is " if you don't like your job, then put the buck buck bucket down."

  • eee hee hahahahah

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • Stationed w/the US Army in West Germany. Virtually every morning AFN Kaiserslautern would play this. Great wake-up call.

    'Goood mornin' captin'.

  • Phil Humphrey & Jim Sundquist sure knew how to make Fendercasters sing! Suprisingly this was not a no.1 hit. Their one and only hit charted 5/23/60 and peaked at no.5 on the Billboard chart and stayed on the list 18 weeks. I used to get all kinds of requests for this on Classic Weekends when I was a DJ!

  • Best. cover. ever.

  • Great unusual song, I listened to it about thirty years ago, fantastic !

  • In those days the Fenderman and Ventures had that 'original' Fender sound. Modern studios don't seem to be able to reproduce it.

  • wow.

the cramps really didnt do any original covers did they?

their version sounds exactly like this.

  • @CodyKhaos

You gotta admit though. They did a fantastic job covering songs. I was never disappointed anyways.

  • @CodyKhaos original covers?

  • this is the hands down the funniest fucking song I have ever heard. as soon as he started yelpin' right after "good mornin' captaiinnn good mornin' to you..." I fucking died of laughter and fell out of my chair... true story.

  • Full on, straight ahead, knock down, ROCK 'n ROLL!

  • wonderful

  • Fendermen..... from Appleton, Wisconsin, no?

  • Bob Green, DJ in Miami, WINZ, broke this song nationally.

  • 50 years on.......it still sounds wicked.

  • my mom makes me listen to this song!!

  • @trez337 Smart mom!

  • @trez337 She made me wear a condom, so I don't think your mom is a slut

  • ho 70 anni....bellissimi ricordi evocati dal blues del mandriano!

  • he he he he ehe he he ehe eh :):):)

  • My dad grew up in hard times Mississippi. We would travel from Texas to Jackson to see the kin. All eight of us in a Ford Falcon. He would sing Hank Williams songs for us but the real treat was always the Muleskinner Blues. Dad, you were a big man!

  • The only other version I like of this is Stompin' Tom Connors, but I grew up on this one and surprisingly, I can still belt this mother out like no tomorrow! Gotta love it and the memories in conjures up.

  • This is THE BEST version of this tune EVER! My Mom had this on an album and we used to sing along. Was in the early 70's. Great memories!

  • Oh the memories !, my best mate had this Top Rank single back in 1960, and we played it to death on his Emerson portable record player after school. The raw edge to the sound , that magical throbin' bass line have stayed with me 50 years, it still sends a tingle down my spine !.

  • Wow does this take me back way back! I was a little girl and this was my brothers record! Now I am hitting the big 60 ina week and my brother has been gone 5 yrs! AAhh memories. Thank you for posting!

  • Thanks for putting this up.

  • AWESOME ! Have to listen to it more than once in a row!! Thanks to whoever posted it!

  • One of my oldie favorites. Great song, music still swings or well, ROLLS ON!

  • Supreme Karaoke song, eh eh eh eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, put the buc-buc-bucket down, qhaa-qhaa haha... huh-ha-ha ha ha hahhhh!! Cha-cha-cha!!!!!!!

  • No it seriously does not get any better than this. We who were electrified by the emerging rock all around us in the late '50s were more electrified by this than anything ever before. Try and imagine - no one had ever heard electric guitars doing those things before - and they've never been done better - and then the banjo for ultimate contrast - and no one has ever been so HEARTY and lavishly outrageous and all with perfect authority - the ultimate meaning of rock & roll.

  • @dakersting What banjo? There's no banjo. Just 2 guitars

  • @Maginel73 Really? That's what I originally thought - that someone does an incredible job of imitating a banjo on a guitar - to set that awesome effect of contrast with the new sounds only electrics guitars could make. Then, many years later and many years ago, I was told otherwise by someone who knew more than I do. These days it's easy to find out everything for sure. Thanks.

  • @dakersting Oh I sooooo agree. Oh, and you gotta love those southern mules!

  • This song was 50 years ago no.9 in the world charts

  • Dr. Demento has an even crazier version by Operation Translation, where the lyrics are turned into the text for an oldtime gospel show.

  • Nope, it don't git any better than this!! Hahahahah....hehehehehe...heeeee

  • i love this song....many memories...miss my dad

  • @ldybugg05 How right you are ladybugg. This song brings back memories of a fishing trip to Lake Huron with my dad and a couple of friends. Since it was played quite a bit on the radio, there was LOTS of laughter in the car. Absolutely priceless!

  • Imi place foarte mult, cand ascult aceasta melodie ma gandesc ca Dumnezeu a stiut ca muzica ne va bucura .

  • It dont git better n this!

  • One of the best! I always listen to this right before Trashmen's Surfin' Bird.

  • hey can anyone give me a name of another band that play the same rock n roll as this dude :) i'll greatfull :)

  • Throughout all of my life this mysterious, but catchy tune would show on the radio every 5 yrs. or so. I was glad to finally know the name of the song and who did it, or else I would have been scrounging info at record stores just to find out. I was also amazed to know that this only consisted of two guitars and was recording in a house garage.

  • fantastic!

  • @iamtoothewalrus d'accordo fantastica!!!!!!!!!
