I have the Champion Safe Squat Hip Belt Apparatus. I do not think they sell them anymore. once I get to 275 lb with it, it puts a lot of stress on my knees and ilio psoas, among other areas. Does anyone have this unit? I can not find one single post on the internet about this particular hip belt squat in any detail on the internet, let alone YT. God work by the way bruno.
This can be quite a workout! If you're new to them, you'll find walking down a flight of stairs quite impossible for about half an hour after doing them!
Is there anything you DONT like about it ? Does your leg DOMS feel any different doing squats in this fashion as opposed to regular back squats with a bar ?
And guys, quit with this, ' i had sciatica, disc problems, theres practically no such thing! its all to do with HYPERTONUS IN YOUR SOFT TISSUE, PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH ON THOMAS GRINER NEUROSOMA and get educated!
this is what i hate about the belt, they advertise it for long bar work, front and back attatchements to bar and it just does not work, sorry, you spend waay too much time pissin about with levels etc and it forces you to start from bottom position? when do you ever start from bottom?
I do a similar exercise. I don't have a hip belt, but I have the Ironmind loading pin. I straddle blocks a couple feet off the ground and just hold the loading pin with my hands and do squats/DL that way. This works okay for now until i get a hip belt.
I recently started belt squatting as well. I have a bulge in L5-S1 and this has allowed me to get my legs back while I resting my low back. No deadlifting for back squatting while recovering.
@Plato1045 I'm sorry I'm responding so late. I did have irradiating pain into my hip and ultimately it developed into sciatic pain. Here's how I corrected it.
1. Tons of stretching including purchasing a cheap inversion table to use before and after exercise to decompress the discs
2.lots of core and lower back work to build my spinal erectors and support structure around my spine.
my back is temporarily out of commission so immediately after seeing this i macgyvered myself a similar setup and it was great. highly recommend it to anybody who has to take a break from back or front squats
I blew up S1-L5 disk, and bulged L4-L5, so I had to stop heavy leg work for a bit. Thinking about this...not sure if this will stress out those disks...
have u tried the modified straddle lift where u perform the movement similarily yet hold the loading pin (via closegrip low pulley row handle attached), kinda like a sumo closegrip deadlift on boxes?
No, I dont think so with this set up. He is using Ironmind's dipping belt instead of their hipbelt which has 2 loops at the front and back so that the weight stack can be adjust to be just below crotch. I don't like the idea of set up when one need to move the weight stack before the set start.
I did it that way for a while, but what I do now is stack the weight on a platform. once I lift the weight off the platform I have someone pull the platform out, then push it back in after my last rep
good improvisation, i'd just do somthing about those shoes

hi.
lately i'm trying to do hip belt squats because of a little injury on my lowback.
the problem is that I've got no hip belt, just regular belt: I feel bad pain on my hips because of the pressure.
is there a way to mod a standard belt (also permanently) into a hip belt?

This is a great finisher after completing back/front squats. It really targets the quads.

Why not just do zerchers?
StuarttStewie 3 months ago
@StuarttStewie
Come on, read before posting. Zercher squats will load the core and back. The whole point of belt squats is to help DELOAD THE CORE AND BACK.

@pam0077 Ok, ok, I didn't know :P

@FieldBoy111 Its for people with bad backs so you can still squat without the pressure on your back.

Great exercise if you have lower back issues.

why are you using the dip harness not the hip-squat harness?
nomilkforsanta 1 year ago
How many plates can you fit on the loading pin? My gym doesnt have any 100lb plates so I would have to put 45s.

I have the old style hip belt. Could you try and describe the padding that goes around the hips with the current model you use?

does this make your penis longer?

@VoteAwards As a matter of fact yes, if you tie the rope to your penis instead of the weights.

@VoteAwards why do you ask? do you have a small penis?

yes. the weight is borne by the hips. despite how it looks, there is absolutely no pressure on your back
