Steve I just found your sites 3 days ago and I've been addicted to them, I found your videos by accident searching "bass" on utube. I'm so happy to see someone technically proficient, who is posting videos and info. I just wanted to say thanks and that I have a ton of videos and pics to still see. I did see the whole shop system build and the Chickens install on myspace 500 + pics. all I can say is that was the shit!!
@calvinblinkee It's useful if you have a couple of them like i do....I plug all 4 of them into the 240V drier outlet in my basement, that way they dont trip the 15amp circuit breaker on the 120v outlet.
not trying to bomb or anything but your reading a B+ at rest which is 12.6V, usually your playing your system while the car is idling or driving, and the battery usually has 13V+ B+.. Just saying maybe that can affect your readings?
so in SPL applications , its baisically usless because it shuts down once it detects clipping ? not something us db drag guys could use unless you could disable that feture .
@masterwolf1212. who the fuck are you his gaurd dog? thats not the way he come off to me. he was coming off as a smart ass. and also its work in progress an i think they know what there doing obviously. but thanks for your concern.
@bigdee2189 bigdee, wow is trying to help meade, or atleast inform him of any factors not put into the dyno BEFORE he sells it, so then people spend money on something that is inaccurate. Just because he asks meade if it factors in impedance rise, which is a vary important variable, doesn't mean that he is trying to compete with meade. Plus he has two rockford fosgate engineers with him. So stop talking like a 5th grader and realize that wow1020 was just wondering.
I got an Idea, why not make a unit will tell you what the actual RMS is. It stops testing once it stops making RMS power.
Holly shit you guys just beat me and every other nerd on youtube that think they know it all. great product I will sure get a couple, this will make great christmas present for some of my bro's. keep up the good work...
that is gonna be a pretty good tool when you all are thru with all the testing. all the the equipment ya'll are developing together is gonna take car audio to another level; keep up the good work!
@wow1022 yes it is. You can choose the impedance you want to measure at. If you know your impedance rise all you have to do is choose it and run the test.
@diablo2369 no sheep-shit bro, thanks for informing me of that LOL. If you KNOW the most imp rise you will see is 5 ohms then that is something you can test for. If its more then that then test for that. Its pretty simple.
I am very curious about the wattage readings, I mod an repair amps daily. Class A/B amps almost never fall in wattage output to the decimal. I.e. 620.1 pc.
Its soo funny that ppl think its just that tiny board and dd-1 and you got it in that huge case.
The reason for the huge case is for the 4 huge risstors(white things show brefly) that apply the "load to the amp".. That a speaker/subwoofer would apply
are you going to have any kind of THD reading for it? i get that it will cut off at clipping, but to truly clamp an amp, you need to know THD as well, IMO
hey steve do you think an alpine type x 12 inch would be a decent sub for me. Im on a very tight budget as a high school student and dont want to buy a bad sub and end up wasting money. I have an alpine amp that can put out the correct rms and everything. thanks
@trevorb9 ok cool. i already have a ported box and im running a rockford fosgate punch p3 12 with a nice box. i think the type x would be better, especially since it will be running at 400w rms more
@IBleedMusick No no just wishful commenting lol.! he does not as of today have an Amplifier in the works. I m not sure hes ready for that. He's kinda modest from what I've seen.
DAMN......This..IS...All...OF...Genius... your the man steve. you have made some very good videos latly.. please keep them coming. and im waiting on a video update on the honda and rino. :D please do somthing with the honda..
i WILL buy one. even though it will be expensive and shipping will be a bomb because i live in the UK but i gotta agree - DAYUM! :) straight sexy lool
holly shit!!! That is beast!!!! Sure going to be expensive but would make a great piece of equipment for a person who has a shop. These guys that made this are a genius. I just got out of my digital logic class. Ahhh! Thats hard for me. lol
you sir are why america is the best country in the world. you got the fliest whips, the coolest friends , good paying job and are steadily working on inventing new things. Honestly, I guess one day you decided you was gonna live life right and did. great job on life dude.
That's pretty kick ass man... I kinda understand the electrical theories these guys are usin... pretty smart stuff! From the look of the components used it could go in a MUCH smaller case. Given the price of the DD-1 alone I can see why you would say the normal consumer isn't going to want to run out and get this. Would be a great idea for a shop though. Excellent idea of showing how much more power gained after using a DD-1. I wish there was a reaction choice of GOD DAMNIT HE DID IT AGAIN!
I've been waiting for something to test the true watts of an amp. will this be a finished product to be sold like the DD-1? maybe this might change how these cheaper brands label their watts? I remember buying no name brand amps that say 1500 Watts when it really was 1/3 of what it claimed. I used to think that was rms. lol. someone had to come up with it. good shit.
been waiting for one of these for so long.. ammeter, multimeter and a calculator all in one package. this coupled with the Distortion Detector is all any audio enthusiast/installer will ever need
Steve, this looks sick! this and the dd-1 man just great great work from you guys. can't wait to get me the dd-1, now i want this too. lol if it wasn't for my wedding this friday i would have already order the dd-1 but need the money to help with the kegs :)

Thing about it, getting the optimal power doesn't exactly mean a gain in output you can actually hear.
So what is the point? Seeing it takes double the power to hear a noticeable difference.
And if you say increase in Termlab scores, testing with a Termlab is the best way to know the optimal loudness.
