Thanks Don for this song, it is very special. I was playing this song when I picked up a couple of hitchhikers early in a long journey. I let this song continue and at the end, I stopped the tape deck and asked the two guys what they thought. Well they told me about how they were into transcendental meditation and astral traveling but wanted to know more about God. I gave my testimony and they said they wanted to know Jesus more. They received Jesus then and there. God powerfully uses your music
Growing up in the 80's, My father loved Don Francisco, and to this day I get chills listening to him. Very Powerful. Close your eyes and listen to this loud!..It will move you!
I'm not a Christian. I think the Jesus story may be a myth. But I will always love the Jesus of Don Francisco. I'll always love Don Francisco and the Jesus he showed me growing up, as I listen to his music. If there's a God you can see it through Don's music.
@u2bMonkey Just a simple request: if you wonder if Jesus is a myth, simply ask him to reveal himself to you. If he is a myth, nothing lost. If he isn't, everything gained. Not a bad return on such a little investment, eh?
The Light reveals itself in ways we are familiar. If a Christian it manifests through the persona of Jesus. If you're a Buddhist it manifests through a Bodhisattva. If a Hindu it manifests through Ishvara. These legendary characters are how our higher nature communicates to those seeking. All is well! Nothing is lost. --- The Light is, in which Christ revealed, is bigger than we think and not limited to one religion.
I have been instructed to read the Scripture Thanks to Don and Wendy, obedience is no longer incompatible with enjoyment. They have gone farther than anyone I've ever known or heard about to help me to read, experience and enjoy the Word of God! I believe Don and Wendy are truly a matched set used and enjoyed by God!
I am in total agreement with Katie. This is Don's "Magnum Opus." I discovered Don's music in 1984. A friend and I ministered this song at the church I was attending at the time and by the time we finished everyone in the place was on their feet with hands raised to heaven worshiping our Father and Our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus. What a blessing Don's music has been to me through the years. Another great song from Don is "Open Your Heart".
I also really love how the key changes from minor to major at 06.47/48...it really moves from the pathos of the Crucifixion to the joy of the thief entering into 'Paradise'..subtly done, but so effective! Thanks Don for this wonderful song!
Don't think there's ever been another Christian singer/songwriter who brings Biblical truth to life like Don does...I'm a great fan of contemprorary Christian music...but a lot of it is frothy and lightweight drivel! I've listened to Don's music for over 20 years and I can honestly say that every song of his is anointed. This one and 'He's alive' are also my favourites...
I was 23 years old on a Friday night in October of 1979. A friend asked me if I wanted to go to a concert with him that night at the local Junior College. I said, Sure, I dont have anything else to dowhy not As we were taking our seats in the Student Center auditorium I could not help but notice that these were NOT the kind of people that I would expect to see at a concert, that I ever had been to.
Long story short, I handed my ruined life over to Jesus... my life has forever changed!
thanks for the reply jvm only took ya a year (just kidding) Dons one of the best. Have you ever heard a song by a man named Michael Card "come to the table" if not get that song play it and play it loud and you will go crazy with worship on that tune. Yes HE is still alive
I agree that most christian music is really 'preaching to the choir" and...even if that feels nice sometimes it really isn't what we should be doing. Great song. His best.
AWE-SOME!!!!!
