the album I have listened to the most over the last 20 years is "Rock on" without a doubt...fantastic songs and THAT voice I will never ever forget...go listen to "Lost in a memory" or "who left who"...absolutely stunning music
At the end of this, Daryl asked Del if there was any truth to the rumour that he was asked to join the Traveling Wilburys to replace Roy Orbison. He responded something along the lines of, "No, but it's a nice rumour". It's a shame he decided to join Roy Orison instead!
I can't believe I never heard this song until yesterday. I can't believe this song never became a major hit. I can't believe Del Shannon is no longer with us. Requiescat in pacem, Del Shannon.
This song smokes...it is hard to believe this guy was rocking like this for 30 years straight...This song is going to stand the test of time make book on it...just like the rest of his music it will be discovered by another generation & he will continue to gain in popularity
@LCC0256 I so much agree with you, wishing that all of the death and killing and demonising could just stop in what is called music. its sad that music has becomewhat it has today. Del was a talent that will endure. Blessings...
Bigger and better things were ahead for you, Del. A whole new generation was getting to know you. Wow, you would of been great with the Wilburys. Anyhow, I always dug the music. You were rock n roll!!
this song has Travelling Wilburiies and ELO at its essence, his album would have been a major success at that time, has he ever released it or was just in the works?
Yep i saw Del a few times when he came to England and he always gave a great show it was a sad end and i know he will always be missed but his music will always remain popular amongst young and old so thanks for that Del
Del Shannon to me was and still is the greatest singer to ever walk the face of this earth. from Runaway to Walk Away his songs are true classics and in my opinion will be around forever Rest In Peace Del its been 20 years but you are still missed
i bought a bootleg wilburys Cd entitled "volume 4" and it has this song under Roy Orbison! No wonder the Wilburys wanted Shannon as Roy's replacement - they are voice twins! never bloody realised it was Del Shannon until today.
this was runaway 40 years later.absoutely drama just like roy, john melencamp.he only new this style.i can't believe he couldn't see the future enough to not off himself.i knew friends of his and they said he was a thorn in everyones ass when he was in highschool and always pushing the limits.copersville has honored him as he deserved.what a great musician, writer, singer human.i just wished he could have stuck it out.the traveling wilbury's were doomed.george, roy, and del all left us.i remember
Great song! This should have been a hit considering others like Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney etc were hitting the charts in 1989. This should have been released worldwide. Poor management for Del, but what else is new?
This is GOLD
