  • 40 years later people can finally understand that movie. As someone posted, noone reasonable would give the control to the computer, but we are talking about military brains, which are stupid by design, they see only military advantages, but they miss the common sense.

  • really excellent clip, captures the spirit of the film(s) perfectly! good job

  • This movie is being shown on Wednesday Sept 28th in L.A. and "Dr. Forbin" himself will be there to discuss the movie! You can buy tickets on Fandango. Here's the theater...

American Cinematheque at the Aero Theatre

    1328 Montana Ave.

    Santa Monica, CA 90403

  • it fitted so wellit convinced me the terminator ripped off this films score :)

  • Woah...if I didn't know otherwise, I'd swear this was a real cinematic trailer for Colossus: The Forbin Project! Excellent work, MisterMaxHeadroom.

  • Thanks for the information.

  • WOW I loved this as a kid,it stayed in my mind-never be seenuntil 40 years-In-the-future my computer NO Colossus, you ask on the web/ someone, somewhere answers-who knows,in Japan-but got full name! The info Super Highway. In 1970-a film is an idea, screen play-casting Bla,The internet rocks-these words not as dramatic as "obey me and live or disobey and die" Its about AI- put nt in middle-AntI-Christ? Not a JC freak, Albert E, after Manhatten love/hate relationship

    had lots of regrets-whoa!

  • The voice sounds like: "All your base are belong to us".

  • good movie that.

  • Nice work - would love to see a series of the 70's sci-fi flicks with more accessible (for modern audiences) trailers.

  • Colossus reminded me more of the MCP in TRON.

  • Yes, a very cool update to a classic movie. Definitely the precursor to SkyNet.

  • Look at the hair cuts, they are J.F.K style. This movie actually came out on cable in 1964.

  • Skynet is from "I have no mouth and I must scream" best evil computer story ever. Hands down. The terminator soundtrack is NOT from the real film. All this music is brad fidel.

  • Brad Fidel? Which album and which song is it?

  • Yes, this (book) before it was made into a movie was the primer for what we know as "Terminator". It was written back in the 50's and later they made this movie. I found this movie on dvd about 3 years ago on ebay, still wrapped. A classic.

  • Oops! I mean VHS

  • @magnaported It's a mortal sin, but I envy you. I've been searching video stores, flea markets, yard sales, etc. for this film on VHS for a little less than 10 years.

  • @alonenjersey they have it on Amazon. Good luck...

  • Wonderful (the music is perfect, it impresses upon the viewer quite well the methodical and frankly unstopable character that is Colossus). However I will say this: Colossus was FAR more clever than SkyNet ever was. Colossus understands human nature and gives out ultimatums which pretty much ensure that drastic actions need not be exercised (he makes very poignant statements about the frailty of human nature). SkyNet is by contrast a simpleton who blindly reacts like an animal.

  • @DChatc It's statement about we humans being our own worst enemy is sad but true.

  • @DChatc I agree with you totally hopefully they'll do a remake of this movie so those that watch the Terminator can compare the two war machines methods of dealing with Humanity. Truthfully I'd rather have Colossus than Skynet as an alternative future at least with the former Humanity has a chance to evolve and coexist with Colossus it would be a loss of pride but at least there would be a future! And as Colossus made clear war is wasteful. It even made clear we'd still have free will.

  • Does anyone know the music starting at 2:17 ?

  • Nice job.

  • The only thing I ever recalled about this film was the LED message board. Always thought it was super high-tech (for the '70s, anyway) Didn't know LED's were in use back then! Thanks for posting.

  • It is possible that they used the very first LEDs. But it is more likely that they are normal lamps or neon bulbs. From the orange color I think it's neon indicator bulbs.

  • looks like a good movie, im going to try and find it

  • Maybe Skynet was inspired by Colossus.

  • Never heard of the film, but I can definitely see a connection. Very thought provoking.

  • Whats the name of the music?

  • You took a 1970 Sci-fi Classic and made it almost current, nice work, I'm very impressed!!!

  • well done! works well as a trailer!

  • cool 60's skynet
