i find it kinda sad this guy made it to the finals. he's just not very exciting, and too stiff. the other guys for this year had quite a bit more substance, and feel. just my opinion.

ya know, if this guy had done just a little bit of ripping outside of the rhythm section, he would have won. His control is pretty good, and he holds back his guitar pretty well. He just never came to the front of the band "like a king"

What i don't like is.......he's never bold.....all the licks sound regurgitated. Really talented good player.......just needs to let go and just play and not live in the blues scale and albert king box. I wanna here like a Joe bonamassa type at least as fearless of the blues gods......Just play and unleash the fury without wanking.....or being boring......that's the real problem with these competitions. Their horrible orginal talent scouts.

i came here to hate, 'cause the king of blues winners are usually trash (in comparison to the history of blues) but this dude was alright. only thing i got against him and most contemporaries is that the cat never leaves the rhythm section and just freaks it. you gotta get interwoven with it. if the beat is ging 1-2, 1-2, you can't just being flowing the same all the time. you go 1-2-3 then catch up with some otherworldy lick. All the greats played licks that were vocal smooth

@peskypesky nobody played like SRV. not in such an aggressive and soulful way. obviously a lot of SRVs licks were from hendrix and albert king and bb king. but that could be said about every blues player, from clapton to bramhall

Everybody has to pick up bits and peices from other artists or how else would you learn! I agree that you should not play someone elses music note for note but as far as learning goes everybody copies someone else there is no other way to learn! Go watch a keith richards interview he explains it very well!

I don't understand why people complain about players sounding like other good players. Variety is overrated. If lick is good one day it will be good the next. Besides, would you rather have a legion of guitar players emulating some really mediocre guitar? SRV is a good player. I have no problem with SRV clones.

I think it would be wonderful if all players played had had nice strats. Would this video be better if he was playing a first act with the distortion on a crate practice amp? Also, hats have nothing to do with good guitar playing.

I understood the allusion. I just chose not to acknowledge it because it was stupid. By comparing the increasing number of "SRV clones" to the rise of communism you are suggesting that the musicians and their listeners are forced to play this way. Nobody is forcing this. People play this way because it sounds good and other people like to listen to it. Why do you think this video has 15,000 views?

i have to be honest i have never seen an SRV 'clone'. there will never be one. he was too good. nobody could play like stevie. FACT. however there are players that try and i say let them. like the saying imitation is the finest form of flattery. Stevie would be the first one to tell you u dnt know wt your talking about. he wanted people to carry his music on to future generations on. like i sed i dnt think there will ever be a day where somebody can call them self an SRV "clone"

Guitar zach as he calls him self used to have his dad go up to musicians in Pittsburgh and threaten violence on the band leader if they wouldn't let his son sit in. Once on stage Zach couldn't even count a beat and got lost playing anything with structure, he's a joke in da burgh because of this. FACT
