Although there is some evidence that a certain Joshua was condemned to death( Jewish History) there is NO evidence whatsoever for the salvation story. It is not even certain that this Joshua, is the same person as the Jesus from the gospels. For extraordinary events (resurrections) you need extraordinary evidence. There is none.

Asserting as "fact" Jesus's "death" by crucifixion is plainly dishonest. I am not going to repeat my discussion with John Barron Jr. to you, but he was forced to concede since I actually made him BACK UP his claims. Tthe Talmud disagrees on many of the points of your story.

The Talmud offers the name Yeshu not Yeshua.

The context indicates that this Yeshu was stoned (to death) and (subsequently) hanged by the Sanhedrin (as per Jewish law) not crucified.

Extra leniency was sought as Yeshu was friendly with the government and the Jews did now want to anger them.

He had only 5 students.

This is all per Sanhedrin 43a.

This narrative contrasts sharply with the NT's version and perhaps should not be considered.

@WaysOfMan The problem with that is that the Roman records reflect the account in the Gospels. Tactitus recorded "Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus,."

No, That is not the problem. The narrator of this video states that :

"jesus' death by crucifiction is attested to in the gospels and at least 5 non-christian sources."

In that list he counts the Talmud. However as I have shown the Talmud indicates that jesus was not crucified. Therefore there are only 4 non-christian sources.

You're right; fear can be healthy & appropriate, however, i was talking about fear in the larger sense... like the fear that keeps 6 billion people in check today!

one of those six billion are 'godfearing' christians...

i'm not saying i prefer one religion over another; rather that all religions have their flaws and NONE is completely correct (though they all have their points of merit)

in my opinion religion is a worldwide issue that stands in the way of truth!
