SP 4449 & BNSF 4449 together! - For an Employee Special

OK... That looks EAST of the Cascades... I met a friend I hadn't seen in years while chasing that train... The traffic jam in Leavenworth was nothing I had ever seen, but still managed to catch it, and get ahead enough to get the camera set up in Wenatchee... driving a 1970 VW Bus!

Has it really been that long? I remember when she came in to Wenatchee and that was my first ride behind the Daylight. Short trip Wenatchee to Ephrata, but thats all that was needed. Even now when I get to Portland and see this locomotive it makes me feel like that little 10year old kid looking up at big steam.

I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't prefer Southern Pacific #4449 in her Daylight colors. My preferences, in the order from my #1 favorite to third favorite, are as follows:

1) Warbaby (all black)

2) American Freedom

3) Daylight

4449 wears all-black like a beautiful woman in a long evening gown....but nothing beats the Daylight orange, red and black.

4449 looks pretty good in black, but nothing compared to the Daylight colors, of course.

If I'm not mistaken, that black color was given to some SP 4-8-4's during the post-WWII years. But she still looks better in Daylight colors.

Nice to see an all silver trainset (other than the tool car). Looks like some 'commuter' cars were used in the consist too but not sure where they came from - in BNSF fleet?
