@ausdigaty He could play like many of the wonderful artists who were his influences and heroes. Like all blues greats Stevie borrowed from the greats before him, paid tribute, and developed his own style. If you hear Albert King in his playing it was an intentional nod or tribute, not an attempt to steal. He also wrote his own blues classics and could lay down some mean jazz to boot. My bet is that Albert King would call your ignorant statement foolish.
well you know living in austin you got to a least have heard of stevie ray vaughan my god his statue is on lady bird or for you old people town lake and if you hear his blues its just part of the austin culture here Me i kind of hear his music comming out of the wind from time to time as I cruz the city we use to see him and this brother jimmy lee at soup creek saloon those are days i wont forget good stuff man we lost an important brother with stevie rays passing
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE ARTIST OR HIS MUSIC THEN JUST DON'T LISTEN TO IT. NO NEED TO COMMENT ABOUT IT, AS EVERYONE LIKES DIFFERENT MUSIC AND HAS DIFFERING OPINIONS ON WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT ISN'T. USING BAD LANGUAGE AND ARGUING ONLY SHOWS WHAT A PITIFUL ASS YOU ARE...GO LISTEN TO WHATEVER IT IS YOU DO LIKE AND STOP LEAVING STUPID COMMENTS ON THOSE YOU DON'T.
I saw SRV twice in one day. I had been in the Army and Labor Day of '88, Miller Lite sponsored the Biggest Party In The World. It took place in downtown Dallas. Lots o'beer and other party favors. SRV came out before the main show, which was The Fabulous Thunderbirds, SRV, then The Who.
SRV came out HOURS before the main show and played with local musicians. Good times! Thanks SRV!
@tony9L9L You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Actually, you are not the first musicain I've met who disliked SRV. I've met a few; unfortunately, I can't remember any of their names since I never see them listed on any album credits or listed on any studio first-call lists.
@freakybuzz Its impossible to like stevie if you've heard a decent guitar player. People say they like him but its just thinly disguised pity. They feel sorry for him because he was the worlds only fat junkie .
@tony9L9L I don't think you're entitled to your opinion at all, in fact, I think you have no logical explanation for why you dislike him. Are your musical tastes different? Must be, because he certainly did not lack skill or talent. That being the case, why don't you get your sorry ass out of here... and hit up Justin Beiber's page? Seems more like minded to you. We only have one method of preserving Stevie's memory... his music. Stop polluting it with your nonsensical garbage.
@Lazarus142 What are you mad with me for I didn't smash your little fey hero into a ski resort at 400 miles an hour? I didn't mix him up with helicopter fuel and mud. I didn't encourage him to waste his life as a junkie. I didn't insist he copied Hendrix and had no originality. I didn't even insist he dressed like a mook! He did those things all by himself. Take out your impotence on someone else OK?
@tony9L9L Look man, all you do is prove the same point humanity proves every day. Negativity only feeds into more negativity. You have so much pent up aggression and negative feeling you just spread it. Look how many people you've alienated against you in this thread? Not that you care, or should. Just saying. If you don't like it, why are you here purposely spreading negative thoughts, words, will and general feeling? Picking fights for no reason. You should hit a bowl, bro. Would do you good.
stevie started young 16 he played backup for many groups like muddtywaters and the king BB KING keep hittin you tude you'll find alot good stuff i'm 60 and play ,long live the blues an rock an roll
For the sake of factual correctness, Stevie never played backup for BB King and it was his brother who played for Muddy Waters. He played WITH some of the great old cats but never FOR them
hey every body, i need your help i'm looking for the song that he did a video for . in it he was playing the music so hard, it began to storm, and they had him plying in it getting wet. any body? i really liked it , it was the first time i heard him play
My parents went to see him with Eric Clapton and Robery Cray in Wisconsin the day before he was killed before in the helicopter crash. R.I.P. SRV. I am glad my parents got me into your music
just hope i can end up in the same part of heaven as SRV cause i want to listen to him ,duane allman charles johnson and all the great ones in the greatest JAM session there could ever be
i first saw mr.vaughn in 1982 when he backed up men at work.he was so amazing that i went home and bought his record and told all my friends how amazing he was live.and i was just 12
Blues is expression, a feel, the words he utter are the story, the notes he plays on the guitar are the feeling and expression he wants to show. haha i'm mumbling.
xD I cant believe someone wanna waste his/her time complaining about the music he/she hates the most and swearing all over to the people who listens to this song.haha..dude, get a life, youre like a stranger in this video link. instead go listen to music YOU like.

the very first time i ever heard of stevie ray vaugh was on a show that used to come on publivc broadcasting called austin city limits and i was only about 10 or 11 yrs old and i said who is this guy and what is he doing to this guitar.. I have loved him ever since.. GOD REST IN PIECE BROTHER..

Oh the many things I could say here,,, I'll just stick with, #1 in my opinion Stevie Ray was the best and most soulful white guitarist that ever played. #2 Hendrix also did drugs so I guess he was a failure also right? WRONG!!!!!!
@rocker4u123 Ok, part man, part helicopter, part recovering junkie, part recovering alcoholic, part fake blues guitar player but 100% american failure.
@rocker4u123 (I have the volume down) Years ago I said Vaughan desecrated Jimi Hendrix's memory with his awful parody and ever since I have been replying to deaf people who disagree with me. Thats why I'm on here. But I think its YOU who should answer the question.
Why are YOU on here listening to this when you could be listening to Hendrix do it properly (with the volume full on)?
I don't understand you turgid collection of mooks.
@tony9L9L SRV was a very tallented guitarist, saying if he is better than jimi is opinion, i love both of them and both of them are very tallented. I also do listen to jimi frequently, along with most bands from the 50s-90's
@tony9L9L SRV had more talen in his pinky toe than you have, I'm sure of that! Failure huh? That's why millions of people adore his music...to this day? You are an ignorant idiot....the end. :)
@normalchick78 Millions of people followed hitler, did that make him a success? Now stop being such a lesbian and go listen to some decent music for a change.
@tony9L9L You don't deserve to be able to hear. You deserve to have your ears completeley cut off, and, for that matter, your loud, obnoxious mouth. How bout you leave everyone alone and go listen to some Justin Bieber while we enjoy some real music.
How can you even say SRV "desecrated" Jimi? He isn't even playing the same style of music for god's sake... Sure Stevie made some covers, which were pretty damn good in my opinion (and of most others listening to this song) and in some cases even better then Jimi's.
Jimi had soul, no doubt on that. But let's face it: Stevie's technique just was better. AND he put his soul in his music as well. You just don't appreciate music, which makes your comments very, very pointless.
@tony9L9L A junkie tribute? SRV? Do you even know what you are talking about? Or just pretending to be smart, talking down to others? Hmm... Who was the junkie... SRV or Jimi... Jeez, I don't Know.
Not that I am against drugs, or at least not against all of them. But since you seem to be, doesn't that mean you contradict yourself? Hating Stevie for abusing drugs and actually getting off them, but loving Jimi for abusing them and NOT getting off them? At least think before insulting people...
@TanguyHaers Big difference between the two mens approach to drugs, you wouldn't understand now go fellate your poodle and stop boring me with your inane ramblings.
@tony9L9L You know, for someone pretending to be smart, pretending you know what you talk about, I have to tell you can't swear o.O
If you don't like SRV, just deal with it. Don't spam the whole comment list full of "great" (mind the sarcasm) swears at people who actually DO like it. Not only is it extremely disrespectfull, but makes you look like a true idiot as well: you seem to spend more time ranting about the one you hate, instead of just listening to the one you love. Just try to move on.
@tony9L9L See? You notice you aren't making any sense so insult once more... If doing something stupid, like disrespecting one of the greatest blues guitarists to have ever marched this earth, do it the right way. Sucking at even this must be hard.
Do you see any SRV fans spamming Hendrix videos about how bad Jimi was and how great Stevie was? NO
So just deal with the fact they both were damn great, and move on with your life. Find another video to spam on.
@normalchick78 i agree 100% Tony9L9L is just upset that he will never become or have the talent that SRV, he is probably some 9yr old just trying to start shit. But enough with the bulshit lets enjoy the master of the guitar play his heart and sould out for us
SRV is my favorite guitarist, but listen to the vocals on this one: MAN, he had it all..great guitar chops and a choice voice!....Rest in Peace, my friend......
I'm only 19, this was way before my time and I can't get enough of this music. SRV was amazing. It's sad there are so many great legends I'll never get to see :/
@Nycter1 Exactly, man. Original Beatles, Original CCR, Original Skynyrd, Hendrix, Stevie, etc. The list goes on so long, and we'll NEVER see any of them... ever. Such amazing talent and the world has ceased to be blessed by it. I can see how we navigated from the mind set of the 60's and 70's. All the love spreaders be dying! It's a blessing we still have Clapton and other timeless musical Gods still amongst us.
dont you just hate people that dont like SRV...i mean, i look at them like, u have to be a total a-hole, go listen to whatever crap u call music...the cool people will hang right here...and when u realize u were wrong, we wont let u hang with us :)
classic stevie ray tune written by elmore james, the sky really did cry on august 26, 1990 when stevie left us, he will always be treasured among blues players everywhere
I just heard Stevie through a bloke I know in Australia. We Got really stoned, heard a few tunes and I reckon this stuff is very blesy. Me mate reckons it reimnds him of BB King. Reckon he"s right.
originally an elmore james song, but this is just stevie playing all his best albert king licks (and more!), albert king used a right handed guitar left handed, but he didn't re-string it meaning he could massive bends, you shuld check him out
lol he had way more talent than bb and albert could have ever had, he turned blue's scales into harmonics and honestly is one of the worlds best guitarist still to this day
There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughn. Its sad that he died in a plane crash. I couldn't begin to imagine how his brother felt when he got the news. Wish you were still here. Thanks for the songs and everything. You were awesome. Loved hearing him play the guitar. He could make that guitar walk talk and so on
S.R.V.'s wife said that sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night, and she would look over at Stevie, and he would be playing air guitar in his sleep with his face all scrunched up like he was squeezing every essence of sound out of his axe. Truly a man who loved his craft.
Very Nice !1 Sweet :>))))))))

@tony9L9L You don't deserve to be able to hear. You deserve to have your ears completeley cut off, and, for that matter, your loud, obnoxious mouth. How bout you leave everyone alone and go listen to some Justin Bieber while we enjoy some real music.
ZeppelinFan6980 1 year ago
@tony9L9L Tony...
TanguyHaers 1 year ago
@TanguyHaers Were you born deaf or did listening to shit music cause your eardrums to fail?
I'm not spending my time arguing with deaf children about a junkie tribute act.
tony9L9L 1 year ago
@tony9L9L A junkie tribute? SRV? Do you even know what you are talking about? Or just pretending to be smart, talking down to others? Hmm... Who was the junkie... SRV or Jimi... Jeez, I don't Know.
Not that I am against drugs, or at least not against all of them. But since you seem to be, doesn't that mean you contradict yourself? Hating Stevie for abusing drugs and actually getting off them, but loving Jimi for abusing them and NOT getting off them? At least think before insulting people...
TanguyHaers 1 year ago
@TanguyHaers Big difference between the two mens approach to drugs, you wouldn't understand now go fellate your poodle and stop boring me with your inane ramblings.
tony9L9L 1 year ago
@tony9L9L You know, for someone pretending to be smart, pretending you know what you talk about, I have to tell you can't swear o.O
If you don't like SRV, just deal with it. Don't spam the whole comment list full of "great" (mind the sarcasm) swears at people who actually DO like it. Not only is it extremely disrespectfull, but makes you look like a true idiot as well: you seem to spend more time ranting about the one you hate, instead of just listening to the one you love. Just try to move on.
TanguyHaers 1 year ago
@TanguyHaers Gosh this is just like talking to that kid who played the banjo in Deliverance. Go and press your dungarees you thumb sucking hick.
tony9L9L 1 year ago
@tony9L9L See? You notice you aren't making any sense so insult once more... If doing something stupid, like disrespecting one of the greatest blues guitarists to have ever marched this earth, do it the right way. Sucking at even this must be hard.
Do you see any SRV fans spamming Hendrix videos about how bad Jimi was and how great Stevie was? NO
So just deal with the fact they both were damn great, and move on with your life. Find another video to spam on.

bilos1993 1 year ago
@Nycter1 Exactly, man. Original Beatles, Original CCR, Original Skynyrd, Hendrix, Stevie, etc. The list goes on so long, and we'll NEVER see any of them... ever. Such amazing talent and the world has ceased to be blessed by it. I can see how we navigated from the mind set of the 60's and 70's. All the love spreaders be dying! It's a blessing we still have Clapton and other timeless musical Gods still amongst us.

I just heard Stevie through a bloke I know in Australia. We Got really stoned, heard a few tunes and I reckon this stuff is very blesy. Me mate reckons it reimnds him of BB King. Reckon he"s right.
RBtoobsalot 2 years ago 3
originally an elmore james song, but this is just stevie playing all his best albert king licks (and more!), albert king used a right handed guitar left handed, but he didn't re-string it meaning he could massive bends, you shuld check him out
alexblues145 2 years ago 5
The heavens were bored, called Stevie home and now all they are forever rockin!!!!
MrDSOTM73 2 years ago 4
lol he had way more talent than bb and albert could have ever had, he turned blue's scales into harmonics and honestly is one of the worlds best guitarist still to this day

-God rest ye-
