I have another insight on ego. Here on Earth we consist of four parts:
divine soul, ego, consciousness and sub-consciousness. Last two are being actively studied by psychologists )))
Divine soul can be simply described as God's selfless love.
Ego can be simply described as body's animal instincts.
First two affect last two directly with millions consequent varieties of manifestations. In order to become enlightened, you've got to weaken your ego and learn how to love selflessly.
