  • Great video. Ignore the haters. To all haters: We are geeks and we love all this shit. If you’re not a geek, get the fuck out of web development and get a job on a building site, or a gym or some shit.

  • Cool story... FML... What a waste of time

  • Maybe you should marry the Navigator or the person who build it?

Awww damn i'm wet about a Navigator!

  • @TheShmoooo haha, wow

  • Sounds like this kiddo has used it all for a long time, Notepad, DW, Espresso and i see Coda he's only 18 years old!

  • @TheShmoooo He, I was introduced to web development nine years ago. Loved it ever since. :) - I can radle off many other programs that I've used: Notepad, Notepad++, DW, Coda, Espresso, BBEdit, TextWrangler, TextMate, Frontpage & Expression Web, Visual Studio, KompoZer, NVU, Bluefish... Yeah, I've used 'em all.

  • espresso 2.0 alpha is out, there are new essential features and improvements. Check it out

  • Nice review! but I have a question, does Espresso have the multi column view? I mean like in notepad++ you can open two files side by side.

  • @tjasko1 I recently moved into software development, perhaps I could make some applications, although I have a long way to go yet.

Also, do you think a Mac is a good choice of computer for the price?

  • @naz1997 Software development is very different from web development. Just keep that in mind. :)

It really depends on your point of view. Mac are amazing at what they do, and they don't fall apart like some other computers. In my mind, if you want to keep a computer for 4+ years, get a Mac. Sure, you can buy a real expensive PC as well, but most likely, they're probably too thick and heavy. It's just me, but I'll pay more to get more quality. Price is far less significant than quality. :)

  • @naz1997 I was speaking more about the laptops... desktop PCs are fine if you build it on your own. I'd never buy an OEM PC... ever.

  • @ooredroxoo I would be nice to have settings for structure and content as I'm sure adding content inside of tags is also a priority.

  • @naz1997 @ooredroxoo You can't really please every developer... most apps have no settings for how it handles tags and all, but Espresso handles it better than every other application out there (in my mind). It would be nice to customize some of the settings though. If I were to ever make a web development application, I would know what exactly to add into it... Espresso does a great job with it though.

  • Hey... there isn't a link to click to view part 2 on the end.

  • @ooredroxoo I see it there. :)

  • 7:50 Sometimes I just wanna markup the structure and don't wanna that the cursor go back to inside the tags, I think that if you wanna add content you can close the div later.

  • @ooredroxoo True... you can.

  • I'm 13 and I'm starting out in web design and development, The review was really helpful and if I manage to purchase a mac I'll probably get Espresso.

    Thanks.

  • @naz1997 Anytime... I started web development and design when I was nine... I feel like I've been doing it for ages. :P

I have no idea why so many good apps are on the Mac but not on Windows...

  • Stop being sorry for making such a long review, that's how some of us like them! Half review, half tutorial. I also liked the fact you didn't edit your video, it's natural, and sounded honest (knock knock ;-). This was the first review that popped up in youtube, and it's the only one I needed so thanks! I also noticed you had Coda installed, what's your though on it? And which one you like better?

  • @fabulat Well, I know some people would complain about it being so long. But I'm glad you like the review. I do try to give a tutorial in my reviews but that's really what a review is; reviewing the material. :P

There weren't many Espresso reviews so I'm glad this was the only one you needed!

I actually bought Coda back in May. It's a great application, but it's for sure not for everything. It doesn't have code folding and that's a big downer for me. Personally, I like Espresso more! :)

  • I've been working with Netbeans 8 months at work. I can't find something greater for PHP/HTML/CSS code completion. When I'm using Espresso I'm just bored to have to move my cursor there and there. In those situations Netbeans does perfectly and easily. The only problem is I don't like the UI so much ... and Espresso and Textmate have a nice UI.

  • @DavidBcg I can't say more than I agree. I personally use BBEdit for most of my scripting and stick with Espresso for the HTML part of it. The list tree in Espresso really sold me on it.

  • Could you please explain the use of MAMP or WAMP or LAMP with espresso?

  • @FCFrenchkiss For running PHP/Perl/etc... scripts. If you're not working with dynamic content or a database, you don't need LAMP, MAMP, or WAMP.
