In 40+ years, I've known about 12 or so dachshunds really well; 4 of those we lived with in that time,1 per decade, roughly.

For a guy, though, during my recent 8 mo.recovery of my mobility, I was nowhere near my MacDuff except one time; I learned to watch this video alone to prevent observable eye-moisture...the paradachsical dachshund will do that to ya...home on 2/25/12---bellyrubs will follow, (for Duffis, stoopid! Not me, worse luck!)

I was startled when I watched this. I have two tan and black dachshunds. One ignores the other whining until he gets his way. I fostered one identical to the one that jumped off the bed and I named her Cocoa. Amazing. We have twin lives! My whiner was named Duckie at the Citizen of Animal Protection before I adopted him. I wondered why. Then, I noticed he does favor a duck when he turns a certain way with that long face.

HaHa! My (Dapple) Dachshund, DJ look and acts EXACTLY like your dachshund, except that my other dog, Lady, (Half Poodle and Shi zhu) wont move, but will bite him (playfully). But when Lady is happy, DJ is happy, and when Lady has to get a bath, DJ waits and howls outside the door. But When DJ has a bath, Lady does whatever she wants. My dog DJ is really loyal to me and my family, and especially Lady. DACHSHUNDS RULE!

As I watched and listened to Jill, I would swear I was looking at and hearing my standard Willy (he passed away 18 mos. ago). He and Jill could be perfect twins! The tears flowed and happy memories returned.

Dachshunds are special, goofy little guys and once you bring one into your life, more always follow. Penny and Schatzie still run my house!!!

Gotta love this breed. I've got two, and at least this one only whines for that bed, mine cries for my bed, because she can't get up herself, so she'll cry until I put her up, and then by the time I get in it, she's somehow managed to not leave me a space and refuses to move without me moving her LOL. Love this video.
