I asked myself once what I would feel if either of my daughters came home and told me she was gay. A parent shouldn't love their child less and the only negative thing is knowing how hard society will be on them. I introduced my youngest daughter to gay friends of mine (2 lesbian ladies I was friends with) and explained to her that some people are different in that they are attracted to someone of the same sex. She was about six and she accepted it just fine after seeing them together at home.
My mom had a friend who, along with her husband, shunned her child because of the religious bigotry of their Mormon church. After her husband died, the mom only got to see her daughter once before she died. She called my mother crying and was heartbroken after realizing the years she wasted without the company of her child because of these self righteous A-holes and it ended that way. Mom - alone, sorry, and crying and daughter never to return again. I find this very sad.

Within the last week I saw Buddist monks (at Best Buys!) and Hasidim. I wonder how Tracy would explain those people to her children. The fact that Stacey finds it so hard to explain homosexuality to her children says much more about her problems than anyone else's. i truly find it sicking that you use your children as a reason to spue your bigotry, to assume that if two men or two women acting more affectionat than just ordinary friends at a public place is in any way going to effect you children in any negative way is laughable the only thing it will do is show your children that this world is full of different types of people and hopefully stop them being bigots such as your self.

I often feel I'm going crazy because some times no one else around me seems to share the basic ideas about ethics that appear so clear, simple and unequivocal to my mind. So she wants the world to be sanitized so she won't have to explain reality to her stupid children? Maybe that "stay at home mom" should just stay at home--permanently. The entire world shouldn't have to suffer because she's got a huge pole up her backside.
