  • The studio solo from this song always feels like an ear massage.

  • What an honor to be summonded by the Master to sing on his stage ,,to be part of his music

  • He can make that guitar SING. What a fucking awesome solo.

  • a lullaby to my ears..

  • Audio, Ear and eye orgasm.

  • bellissima!!

  • David Gilmour with Crosby and Nash! This song is awesome and so is the whole album!

  • @666767 Um, I know who they are. It's just I didn't recognize their faces until about 5 minutes after writing that comment.

  • this is Music.

  • Fantastic Song, as I love David Gilmoure, Crosby & Nash!!!

  • What is the red padle he uses?

  • @pedraero12 That's a Digitech Whammy Pedal. It's what changes the octaves in this song and Marooned. If you're a guitarist looking to buy one, be wary--it's pretty odd to use. I have one myself, and with my gear alone it gives the guitar a very electronic tone. I'm sure David has some equipment to counter that.

  • The couple waters- gilmour can only be compared with the lennon - mc cartney, both COUPLES create the two BEST MAYOR bands in music history BEATLES and PINK FLOYD.

  • Who are the two backup singers? Anyone significant?

  • @bertchtree91 Crosby and Nash

if you dont know who they are i suggest looking them up

youre missing out on an "significant" amount of music

  • Dave, what do you do with that guitar, such incredible sound, you are amazing,

  • Sick!!

  • thanks god you are ,david you are lovely.

  • thank you god for David..... AMEN!

  • Gilmour and Roger are my life's heroes, Roger's song writing means so much to me because because I can relate to it so much, The Wall is by far my favorite album, I've been listening to it everyday of my life since summer of 2010 when I heard is there anybody out there and I fell in absolute love with it. Roger wrote every popular floyd album, and gilmour made it sound great. You people need to wake up and see that if it weren't for gilmour floyd wouldn't sound very good. But roger made the band

  • David Gilmour never fails to amaze me..

  • Roger Waters may have the been the visionary and mind of Pink Floyd, but David Gilmour was the soul. Without him Pink Floyd would have been nothing.

  • Really trippy blissout stuff, diverse! 200% love it.ooooooohhhaaaaahhhhh

  • wow, far-out, i love it...*******

  • 4 people are deaf!!

  • a god in my ears...more psycho than the god!!!

  • dave I'ts a excellent musician....this music is a voyage!

  • A perfect sound.

  • David Crosby and Graham Nash fit in like a cosmic puzzle!

  • simply mesmerizing!

  • he just not the same without roger waters!

  • GILMOUR , WRIGHT,CROSBY, NASH = PERFECT MUSIC

  • OMG!!! What an amazing guitar solo!!!

  • awesome use of the whammy pedal

  • I picked up this DVD. I've been so stressed from work and other such meaningless things, and listening to this concert really helps me relax.

  • awesome o.O gilmour is a fucking god ¡¡

  • Without David's contribution and writting Pink Floyd was destinate to be another psicodelic band from the 60's. Do the investigation, in those songs that made Pink Floyd achieve the next level, David influence was in there as a composer or co-composer. David is the soul of Pink Floyd, Roger was the rebel anxious to try new things.

  • Thank you David Gilmour for being a god.

  • is that some kinda occilating octave expression pedal he is using?

  • @ihaveaverybadcold digitech whammy pedal, pretty much an octave pedal

  • this is magical...This is music!

  • This music sounds even better on LP records.

  • It sounds even better on LP records.

  • marvelous. God bless David Gilmour.

  • David: to use a slide guitar, it`s too mainstream xD

  • Dreamy....

  • for the cosmics arabesques of gilmour .....

  • @ancientmagik9 // its a digitech whammy

  • This is beautiful!! Gilmour's done it again!!

  • Man I would have loved too have been at this concert, this song/solo..the whole album is magical. R.I.P Rick Wright

  • the master bender... bravo maestro...

  • Love the man. Love the sound. Audio orgasm.

  • @seabreeez1 Correction: eargasm

  • @OrlandotheAxe731 hahahaha

  • Bravo Maestro!

  • This is music on the highest levels of creativity, spirituality, and beauty. It can't possibly get any better than this

  • david gilmour gracias, thanks.

  • Brividi !

  • Grandpa, is the sqealing plutonian...I find no other words to define his music. This is too fucking much.

  • Excellent!

  • This is absolutely fantastic stuff, David Gilmour at his best and the unforgetable Richard Wright on keyboards... Oh I wish I was there (here)....

  • fuckin excellent!

  • just close your eyes and enjoy the sound of the blue

  • Gilmour's guitar has wings

  • tanta pulcritud al tocar...

  • Magnifica......magico david!!!

  • david's level 16 ulti. !!! awesome!

  • man.. that chord is so blue.

  • o my god!!!! that is such amazing music! i was in a trance in the solo. so spacey!!

  • @MrPeggyo your right roger waters is a musical genius but he would have not been as significant if it wasnt for davids contributions. david is the voice and sound behind pink floyd , best guitar player ever and great vocals .

  • it's a digitech whaamy!!

  • @mike623100 You said that perfectly!

  • This makes my soul cry in ways I never knew possible. Beautiful work.

  • Perfection

  • Mais uma excelente música.

  • that guitar is talking, and i'm glad i can understand what she's saying.

  • That's Crosby & Nash singing back-up vocals!

  • Nice work with the Digitech Whammy pedal in the lead break. Few people can make each note sound so beautiful. Jeff Beck is also someone with that magic touch

  • Nice work with the Digitech Whammy pedal in the lead break. Few people can make each note sound beautiful. Jeff Beck is someone else with that magic touch

  • I agree with Stickmodee. David Gilmour was magical only when his light touches were used to make Roger Waters dark side more accessible. It seems to me that he need some one with strong foundation like Waters. Without Waters his stuff seem too light with no real structure drifting all over the place.

  • such a very very very <<<<beautiful guitar solo!!!!!!!!!!=なんて美しいギターソロなんだ

    thanx

  • for me, when you are truly blown away by a video on youtube. you forget about even placing a comment. that's how I felt when I found out about pink floyd and david gilmour.

  • @HARION9 right said!!!!!!!! (?)

  • Great song. Disappointing CD after all those years. I hate to say this, but Dave needs Roger more than Roger needs Dave. Just saw the Wall in Pittsburgh. Fantastic.

  • @Stickmodee Have you ever thought about why Roger Waters' doing The Wall again? Your comment shows that you barely know David as a person. Sir David Gilmour's music can touch your soul without all those light effects and lasers. He's just concentrated himself on doing what he likes, and how he likes it...

  • @da87m No, I don't know Dave personally, as most Floyd fans don't. But compared to his previous solo efforts, this one was weak. I just believe Waters is a better writer. And why is waters doing the Wall again? To make a shitload of money, to satisfy Floyd fans that haven't seen a tour since"94 and at 67, his last hurrah.

    Good Day.

  • @Stickmodee Are you saying that "On an Island" is a weak album? If so, don't bother you responding me... Have a nice day.

  • @da87m Compared to his "David Gilmour" and "About Face" Cd's, yes, it is extremely weak.

  • You can get this mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • David I love you.

  • tess.tesss@yahoo.com

Stupidly - I've seen this with appropriately another 15,000 beautiful souls! lol x

  • tess.tesss@yahoo.com

  • wonderful work

  • no es qeu me guste, sino eu me encanta

  • so beautiful!

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • I love this song so much!!! On A Island is one of the greatest albums in the world!!! When I listen to this song I can feel a smell of the sea and the openness of the sky and space. I would give anything to get David`s guitar skills. This man can do the same influence with one string as someone can do with six strings. SUCH AMAZING!!!

  • David's guitar solo here is mystifying -- like all of his solos are ... simply jaw dropping. What an amazing voice this man STILL has.

  • Gilmour - Paganini of guitar !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like that comment. The Michael Jackson of guitar. So true this guy is above them all. Im not talking guitar technique or shredding etc. Im talking about music. Music that hits you deep within. Music that touches you in one way or another , you cannot explain it. How on earth did a human being make such fantastic sound,I don't know but hell this is good. Some people are just made different and Dave Gilmour amongst others is one of them. Stunning

  • I get goosebumps when I hear this...especially the upper register lead guitar. Oh yeah, and it didn't hurt having Crosby and Nash in harmony.

  • la voce di Dio

  • come on comparing hip hop and rap shit ..to this amazing man

  • I have to say I like most music like some of them are rap, metal, and pink floyd, but there are always songs in each genre that are horrible or amazing I don't really think it's the actual genre.

  • David Gilmour= 40 years experienced guitar master...........hip popper and american rapper=poor young people which become famous by taking famous songs and changing their text with a bunch of bad words (like it happened which that idiot of Puff Daddy which took the song of The Police "every breath you take", put some idiot words in it, changed the title in "i'll be missing you", and become stupidly famous..........that's it

  • This song is damned damned damned damned damned damned BEAUTYFUL........i consider this one of the best song in the world.......and pardon me to say this, but this is David Gilmour in ALL his 40 years experience............. forget about guitar heros...............this is David Gilmour, the michael jackson of the Guitar..............

  • This is perfect people, does anyone feel alive after listening to Gilmour's music?,

  • This is so sacred. Please dont demean this site by mentioning.....rap. Ihave cancer and I want to remember this when i get to heaven.

  • I just wish people were more open minded to genre's of music. All my life I have loved Pink Floyd and just about every genre out there besides pop.

  • Crosby and Nash were a great complement to Mr. Gilmour's music; they sounded great, especially on "Remember That Night." I'm glad that David stayed true to his roots. Long live Richard Wright.

  • I wish it didnt have to end man

  • This is the best music out there and David is the mystro..........He is the Manm the myth the god.

  • Furthermore, those who are not educated, tend to shun creativity, (which this song emulates..) It's above & beyond their level of comprehension.

  • perfect this music ... long life for this man!!!!

  • To those asking what pedal this is: This is the Digitech Whammy pedal kit. Google it. It's a $200 pedal device that is stunning in it's capabilities. Gilmour is the only guitarist I know that uses it in this fashion. He's configured it to do the 2 octave bend DOWN because he orients the pedal upside-down to accommodate his pedal board space on stage.

These pedals are red and the video shows him stepping on it many times.

In my opinion, Gilmour plays this better live than on the record.

  • Any of the digitech rp models with a treadle (rocker pedal) can do the whammy thing and they cost lots less than a whammy and you get a quality multi effect thrown in.

  • I love the part at 3:57 to 4:18. Even if you didn't know who he was from looking at him, you could tell what band he was in just from that part. That is if you like good music.

  • One of Gilmores Fine works!

  • I want one of those effects pedals that he's using on that solo, but they cost a bomb, git!!!

  • @HughieDixon what pedal does he use?

  • @kjg8erz8 no idea

but ive heard people trying them out in a music store

    just ask

  • R.I.P. Richard ! ypu so brave and honest Man

  • Happy Birthday David!!! 3-6-2010

    I LOVE YOU!!!

  • Dream!!

  • Simply beautiful!!!!!

  • david gilmour< well i have no words for his admiring still he performs as the way he did when he was young.

  • Verdade! Azul é a cor do céu e do mar.

  • wow .. beyond words!! :) david gilmour is a genius !!!

  • Magical... Gilmour + Crosby + Nash = perfect harmony :-)

  • David Gilmour has the kind of soul that reveals itself through his guitar playing. SImply magical and transcending. I am totally transported by this song.

  • Truly chillout spine tingling use of selected hair standing toned notes, sit back and imagine yourself in a boat watching blue whales breaching , tail out of water ,then diving deep , or dolphins under water,This has got to accompany a David Attenborough underwater film !!!!

  • i wish i would have listened to this yesterday when i was baked

  • wordless, just masterpiece!

  • David loves his pitch whammy : )

  • Tiene un aire a "Us and them"...

  • ...pekne,velmi pekne...

  • The "feeling" I get when I listen to this song is "summer". This song, so simple yet so elegant, is so haunting in the way it "feels" listening to it.

  • Gilmour isn't one of the most talented guitarists in terms of technique - that goes to Satch or Gilbert. But, Gilmour is the best at using his guitar to create unbelievable music - which is what playing is all about. One of the greatest ever.

  • @philbertfwog I definitely agree.

  • @philbertfwog - Technique in terms of shred. But even he has said he's not the fastest guitar player, but he has certainly created his own unique style. Just listen to Dave Kilminster on the current wall tour. He is close, but just not as smooth as DG. That's the word to describe David Gilmour's technique: Smooooth : )

  • @philbertfwog jeez i wish i had your ability, look forward to your postings. you play a gibson or a taylor?

  • @vindicari I have no idea what you're getting at or what your point is. My original point is valid though, and no, i don't play a Gibson or a Taylor.

  • @philbertfwog my point is, your'e full of your own self importance. music is a personal preference

  • @vindicari Oh and you can tell that all from a throw away comment on youtube? Hah. I'm a guitarist, drummer, bassist and pianist and Gilmour is my favourite guitarist. He's not got the best technique ever, but that's what makes him so good. Now i'll leave you to over analyse my comment again.

  • when you listen, you need to realize its how he plays the guitar as a septer to reflect his soul and heart onto the universe, rather than thats oh thats just how the song goes. and really look at how he uses the guitar, phenomenal! extremely talented

  • come on david we want more music from you,and pink floyd need to do a farewell tour.only 3 of them left.waters have words and lets see the floyd befor its too late.

  • this song is very underrated

but i wonder why is david so blue

to make such a sad song???

  • the digitech whammy pedal is a beautiful thing - it must have been created with gilmour in mind

  • We miss you, Richard...
