  • Do you have 4 sets of 3 pennies

  • you need to tighten the bolts from the heatsink more because the cpu and the gpu is geting air and it suppous it dosen't a hope it work mine did the same until a tigthen thebolts

  • actually u know what this happened to me after doning the x clamp mod....i know u did the penny trick ,and u might still have the x clamps so if you decided to keep them on, make sure that those x clamps are tightned good enough...it should work after that...any isues msg me and ill try to help, *survivor of the infamous E74 error lol :D

  • the pennys are groundn the board out which in return is causeing increase in power from the grounded case through the ram chips so make sure you have the pennys covered with electrical tape and as for fans speeding up and quitn wuld be the gpu/cpu chip being to snug r to much thermal past is applied

  • i bet he was like yes yes!! at the beginning then later NO!!

  • Here's the problem, there's too much pressure on the CPU and/or the GPU. just loosen up the screws a little and re apply some thermal paste and it sould be good.

  • same thing here actually! but i too am looking for a solution... :( same exact thing! i swear

  • @techdiner You maybe need to add more or better thermal paste

  • This is how u fix it

1; Stomp on the peice of shit

2: throw it out the window

    3 light it on fire

4; Throw it in the trash

    5 Buy a ps3

  • @royjack100 do you really have nothing better to do with your life?

  • i now how to fix this in 30 min

trow your xbox at the trash take your car/ cal your mom to drive u to the store buy a new xbox and evry thing is somehow fixt

  • You ust got a rare supercharged model thats all

  • "the three rings of red death" seems legit

  • its overheating what i did was i put a fan near it blowing air at it to keep it cool, i would suggest if you have the money buying a new interior fan for it and/or buying an exterior fan attatchment

  • you need to put heat sink compound on the heat sinks

  • the penny trick is fake

  • Did you ever get it to work? Mine does the same exact thing after the X-Clamp fix

  • It's not shorting out, it's overheating the ram. Do the x clamp fix. Much better fix.

  • Your shorting something out dude! the penneys r not in the right place!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Unplug the fans and leave the xbox running until it really overheats. Xbox should go in to protection mode and reset itself. Then when you next boot should be okay.. While your at it clean out your heatsink

  • I though that thing was going to kill you

  • sounds like its going to explode

  • You need to put it all the way back together if the black screws aren't in the correct place then it won't work

  • Or GPU or CPU heatsink is loss

  • try cleaning the motherboard. this happened to me but i found thermal paste on the back of my mobo and i cleaned it off and the 2 red rings went away

  • Hay smart one the fan is not connected right

  • tell me when your xbox red rings again from the x clamp repair and then again when you tighten the bolts and then no more xbox x clamps fix dose not work for a long period of time a week or two if you lucky, dont beleive me check my chanel.

  • @typsie1 i did the x clamp repair when i had the e74 and my xbox has been working for 7 months it all depends on your console itself

  • Mines doin the same thing. idk whats goin on

  • 2 lights mean overheats

  • You would think it has a delta fan.

  • @EpicMan83 haha right

  • Funny how I still have a PS1 from 1999, and it still works perfectly.

My dads super nintendo still hasn't broken in all the years it's been out.

Xbox360's are awesome, but they're kinda shit.

At least the new models are better:)

  • @robofish3000 they didnt put enough work on the 360 as they did other systems beside the graphics card is just soo well done though it takes alot of power to make this 360 work and also my 360 makes that sound all the time ive had it for almost 3 years only one time got red rings sent it in got the same one just a new piece inside the main component and the maker of this video i haev the best idea ever!! SEND IT IN DONT TELL U OPENED IT TRY TO MAKE THE XBOX LOOK LIKE IT ALWAYS HAS

  • that's an easy fix, happened to me, what you need to do is re-open it, to where the 3 chips are on the bottom where you put the pennies, get some thermal compound, take the pennies off and put the old strips back on with a good amount of thermal compound, then when your putting it back together make sure everything fits nice and snug and that all the screws screw in all the way. that is the reason its doing that.

  • Insta-overheat lol

  • wat i do once it starts the two flashing lights is unplug everyting then i pee on it and i dont have any more problms tri it it rele works

  • well obviously you didnt follow the directions because youre sapposed to do the towel trick after you do the penny trick then it will work

  • @crazyninjabreadman yeah i'm about to do that too. have you done the towel trick and the penny trick? because i saw a video of a guy and he said he only does the towel trick and he has to do it about once every 4 days. does the pennies and the thermal gel make it so you only have to do the towel trick once?

  • i got the same thing after the penny fix. use the towel trick and your xbox should be fine

  • its the heat sink its not attached all the way put like 3 pennies on top of the heat sink then put the cover back on. i had the same problem

  • I just took the x clamps off and bolted down the heatsinks when I had this same problem

  • I had 3 red rings so I unpluged the power brick and it works perfect now and it's almost been a year

  • @Glitchman112

I read somewhere that people have documented cases of the power brick being the cause of the 3RROD, not getting enough power from it, or sometimes something strange

  • i just got my 360 and i tyried plying mw2 on it it would get to the level shut off and i would turn it back on and it had rrod anyone know how to fix that

  • @LMSGINY THE RROD prevention on the 360 slim is a myth but it sends a messege to the dashboard tellig you that its gonna overheat so technicly it is helping you prevent rrod and i have the 120 gygabyte 360 black and my bro played it 8 hours straight and its fine its been two years since ive had it and it runs perfectly :D AND to fix rrod theres no technique just that all u gotta do is as long as ur warranty is up go to were u got it and get a new one my dad always gets waranties on all of my ga

  • *use

  • did u sue the thermal silicon grease

  • 2 flashing lights mean that it overheated

  • Yes, i know what happend for 2 lights call me 832-257-4541

  • It's a fan problem then

  • I pee on the side of the toilet to make less noise.

  • You did the retarded penny thing, hahahahaah idiot.

  • dude just buy a new xbox.. i dont y ppl be putting vids on utube like help me

  • Your pennies have slidden around and that is what the cause to your problame is your welcome

  • what happend is that the pennies only fix it for a small priod of time and now the pennies have caused it to over heat more you should of never done the pennie thing it just fucks it up

  • I would say it was cause of over heated thermal paste that squeezed out thus not transferring heat like it should. Those lights were it over heating really quickly. So the x-clamp fix only fixed it because you were getting heat transferred like it should after doing it.

  • yea clean and reapply the thermal paste also make sure your heat sinks r all the way tighten down

  • its probably the thermal paste on your Cpu or Gpu... you probably need to clean and reapply that!

  • You know your supposed to plug in your AV cable when you turn it in, right?

  • when you finally fixed it did you put the Penny's and the X-clamp or what, please somebody help me!!!

  • @RogueDoctor no no pennies

  • @mniko89 one more question, you just take out the Pennies and what did you put on the 4 chips? nothing? and what did you fixed again? thanks

  • @RogueDoctor youtube x clamp fix on.. also buy the x clamp fix kit on ebay for like 8$

  • your cpu is getting to hot.. thats what the two red light mean in this video.

  • The same exact thing happened to me, and I fixed it my going in and making sure that EVERY black screw is there and is in tight and that all the cables to the DVD drive are plugged in!! Then it should work like a charm... although my fan got really loud...

  • yea it's usually the x-claps, improper washers, or no washers at all. you need washers on both sides of the circut board or it will short and give you problems.

  • do the towel trick then it will work

  • my friend got a snes and i got one of those old mr game and watch games and both work like a charm :I

  • My friend got a snes a i got a nes and both work :I

  • Two rings means its over heating.... Could be the heat sensors.....

  • something is shorting out.

  • One Or Both Of Your Heat Sinks Probably Just Aren't Properly Making Contact With The CPU or GPU. Tighten Them To Fix This...

  • XBOX suks its a money suking whore

  • mine did this the first time i tryed fixing it, start from the begining and go through the stages of fixing it. i expect you made a small mistake or your pennys have moved ??? :/

  • you need to tighten down your CPU, And GPU Sinks ;)

  • Change your modem chip and put a cs78 chip in replace

  • Ya the 360 slim does not get the rrod or the gay red dot of death that people say it gets it is a good system

  • This is the answer for all people!Buy the new Xbox 360 slim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • @Adycool7600 some of us can't afford one you trust fund ass wipe

  • @SimplySinify "trust fund ass wipe" lmaoo

  • @SimplySinify yeah, I mean to buy a 360 slim from the begining if you want an xbox, I am not rich :(

  • @Adycool7600 you make it sound like your a rich ass hole who has no consideration of others... you know "fags" well the new definition i just came up with

  • @Adycool7600 nah it sucks more i stick with my elite :)

  • @Adycool7600 the xbox slim is acctually worse than the old model xbox 360... the dvd drive collapses which causes the e74

  • @septicsole ? e74 on slim? On slim I nkow is only e79 and e80 AND THEY ARE RARE

  • @Adycool7600

no, well my uncle has one and it showed the one ring so i assumed the e74 as on the old model, but all i know is that when u play on the slim alot the dvd drive collapses like on the old model the e74 really meant that something was wrong but it wasnt hardware nor the av plug so they made the e74 error which meant it coulda been the ethernet port dvd drive or something else..... but yea we took in the slim to a place where they fix it and he said that the slim is worse

  • @septicsole yeah, if I get a slim I will play max 4 hours. If you take care about your console it will be fine

  • @Adycool7600

dont u think 4 is a little too much i mean i played for 3 hrs straight and got rrod

  • @Adycool7600 Saying that the slim prevents rrod is a myth you know..

  • LOOSEN THE SCREWS!!!! SOOO MANY PEOPLE FORGET TO DO THIS!!!!!!!

  • Buy A New Xbox.

  • its probebly short circuiting and the its generating tons of heat so instead of pennies just use some thermal paste on the chips

  • The same thing happens to my and scares the living fuck out of me when it happens too.

  • just take every thing apart then after you got that put different pennys on every pad and after do the towel trick will work like a charm

  • I thought it was about to blow up.... sheit

  • two red lights = CPU overheat, so your CPU isnt cooled enough. Thats why it accellerates the fans and then automatically shuts down. Just search for Xbox ring of death on Google to learn about which colors means what.

  • @ThePrettyBasicHD GOTTA TIGHTEN THEM HEATSYNCS!! DO IT AND GET BACK AT ME. IF ITS 2 THEY ARE TOO LOOSE. IF IT GOES TO 3 RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT THE FAN TURNING ON, THEY ARE TO TIGHT.

  • 2 red lights is usually the power chord going bad. at least thats what it was for 2 of my 360s

  • @adchairez 2 RED RINGS IS EITHER YOUR HEATSYNCS ARE TO LOOSE OR YOUR HEATSYNCS NEED TO BE CLEANED CUZ ITS OVERHEATING. NOTHING TO DO WITH A POWER BRICK. IT DISPLAYS A RED LIGHT WHEN THE POWER BRICK IS BAD. JUST SAYIN!!!

  • fyi..when there are 2 blinking lights, that means your console is overheated. so you have to let it set in an open area for a while.

  • could somebody help me plz everybody replz when i clean the thermal paste off and put new thermal paste on their nd put it back together nd it still had the 3 rings of death and the power brink was orange and had 3 rings of death and the fan was blowing either , when i turn it on the motor inside was trying to turn itself on and wont come back on and 3 rings appear (srry for redundant words)

  • @Smooveastouchvideo12 YOU GOTTA OVERHEAT IT NOW!!!!

  • This video and other videos show how crapy xbox is (and that ps never beak down)that's japanies engineering and your so stupid it's just overheated cool it down Put it in your refridgarator. Or some where cold. P.s. To avoid this just take a ps3

  • @hasso0n hell yea FUCK MICROSOFT.!!! every single one of their products FUCK OUT after the warrenty is out. PCs Zunes XBOXes, then they charge you for EVERY FUCKING THING THEY POSSIBLY CAN. PS3!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hasso0n the original PS3's explode when they overheat, and yes they do overheat. Both consoles had flaws, PS3 had the YLoD, Xbox had the RRoD. This shows how little effort was put into trying to solve the problem. The fans "went crazy" because the thermal paste attaching the main heatsinks to the cpu/gpu is gone and needs to be removed and replaced, spins the fans in vain trying to cool them down. There are several videos that show how this is done, alot easier than reflowing solder on YRoD...

  • This video shows how g

  • Why bother??? Just have it shipped to microsoft for a new one. It may take longer but atleast it will DEFINATLY work.

  • That sucks,brah. =/

  • Xbox slim ftw?

Nothing is made to last anymore.

  • that happend to me but i never did no penney trick i just simply sent it in and in 2 weeks wala a new fucking xbox you just need to have so wait time

  • It was simply overheated.

  • My PS1 is from 1999 and it still works like a charm....

  • @gazzxr mine 2 lol

  • @gazzxr Why dnt u play that then? =D good for u isnt it?

  • @gazzxr Heh, my NES is from 1989 and it works like a charm. So glad my 360 was free(ish) (It needs a disk drive.)

  • @gazzxr DREAMCAST FOR EVER

  • @gazzxr PS1's would probably survive a nuclear war

  • @fvidalh Ha ah , true that bro.

  • @fvidalh I over heated one in 2hours at 7 years old. hah.

  • @fvidalh now a rwoch would

  • seem weird that if it senses itself over heating, the fan turns off

  • 2 red rings means its overheated, so u just need 2 unplug the main cable and replug it smiples!!

  • sometimes solder melts on the bottom of the motherboard and connects to other things. I find this usualy happens by the usb port

  • sometimes solder melts on the bottom of the motherboard and connects to other things. I find this usualy happens by the usb port

  • well it looks to me that your xbox has loud ass fan disease

  • 2 red lights means it's overheated.

  • the heatsink is not touching CPU or GPU or both, no more than 2mm gap,

  • thats is a fan error, a blade might of slipped becasue 2 red ones means overheating, so its most likely something wrong with the fan, not the motherboard , hope it helped a little?

  • take apart put new thermal paste on from radio shack put heat sinks and x clamps on over heat with one fan over large heat sink and other one over disk drive for 20 min then let sit for 15 and reassembel i just did it 2 hours ago

  • this brings back bad memories :/ but jus to give advice to u guys out there who have the red ring problem DO NOT do the towel trick it may work but you're pretty much murdering your xbox360 the more and more you do it, best fix for this problem is removing the x-clams n placing silver thermal compound on the both the GPU chip and CPU chip

  • Blow it and get the dust out because it might be dirty???

  • Is it working now?

    lol

  • loosen the screws that are on the bottom of the gpu and cpu. they're too tight and it's most likely causing your mobo to bend. that's what makes the fans bug out. loosen your screws and try it again

  • I had the same thing, 2 blinking lights indicate overheat and theres no proper ventilation without the case, and i see you had it on a soft surface=overheat

  • i did this and the same thing happened to me and yes i used thermal glue and electrical tape

  • It could be that you screwed the screws of the X-clamp fix to tight, witch is a couse to instant overheating, tweak a litle with the screws, think there to tight but it could also be to loose, don't know sure, succses, I'm a little late I think about a year or so :P

  • Its overheating instantly. Either u used no sync paste(hot glue) or u didnt wrap the pennys in electrical tape(cross connection) the fan is speeding up to compensate for the hot ram chips my advice is to re do it all over and use heat sync paste! Or do it correctly and buy a repair kit or take it to a game store(not gamestop) to have em fix it, or buy a jasper motherboard.

  • Maybe you used a bad penny!

  • @131mordecai

Send me a msg & i'll help you out[:

  • That's exactly what i have.

  • its gotta be the accent...

  • Same Thing Happend to Me But I Fixed That Problem :D

  • @ModeGFX how did you fix it, i have the same problem but i havent even done the penny trick.

  • The reason for two red lights means that the xbox is overheating, the only thing i can suggest is that the fan is blocked and you need to hoover the dust out? Thumbs up if this worked for you coz it could save you a lot of money :)

  • dude just look up how to put it together, then put it together 100% correct then it should work

  • "So i got the....3 rings of uh.....Red death or whatever"

    Seriously man ?

  • Hey I did the penny trick and it worked so thx's for the vid and hope you guys can fix it as well

  • Its your fan make sure nothing id in the way of the fans rotation and make sure all wires are in correctly

  • that means it is overheating and your fans are burned out mine does the same thing even wen i did the x-clamp mod

  • Hey man I got the red rings too but I just put the pennies wrapped in electrical tape and put thermal paste then the pennies on if the pennies fell or moved at all it won't work so check that ps how do you fix a disc tray mine won't read any games at all. Help

  • tighten your gpu heatsink. and most likely you should just clean the lens with alcohol.

  • the pennies are to act as heat syncs but unless you had put thermal paste on the pennies its jus gonna keep throwing you that error code, i would go with arctic 5 or go to radio shack and get thermal pads, and first off why did you even take the pads off to begin with, they are fine, and all the pennies do is transfer the heat into the chassie

  • 2 led dont mean it broken, its meant to mean all its doing is overheating

  • the 2 led lights mean its overheating...you may of warped the contact of one of the heatsinks with the processor or gpu... try pasting more thermal grease on the heat sink and replanting them firmly onto the chip..that should fix teh problem

  • Sucks, man.

  • power overload?

  • did you do the towel trick after doing it?

  • Its because the xbox is overheating... probably while disassembling your xbox you moved the passive cooling systems... or maybe also a capacitor (which because of its altered position does not work properly and thus the CPU doesnt work with the right voltage and overheats) so put the passive colling bodies off clean with alcochol the thermal compound on the GPU and CPU check if all capacitors in the CPU are straight and not significanlty moved (if they then carefully with little power put them

  • @Emeengor back into position....then take a normal hear gun (NOT A HEAT GUN)and heat the moved capacitors for about 4 minutes also check if your pennies are wraped correctly and if they are slim enough (2 pennys max) then apply thermal combound put in the passive coolers screw them tight and you should be ok... if you are not ok then unscrew only the GPU cooler (the flat one) take it off open your xbox and wait to it to get overheated - with 2 red lights- wait 10 secs aply the flat coller

  • @Emeengor without screwing it just gentel push it into position in that way the melted thermal compount applied a fil again over the GPU then with a hot glue gun apply hot glue arround the flat coller to stick it to the motherboard WITHOUT moving the cooler... dont apply xclamp again on the flat cooler..also its not recomended after that to play your xbox verticaly to the ground... -cuz if get hot again the glue gets soft and the cooler moves a few mm -

  • why don't you send it to microsoft directly

  • those lights aren't error codes, they're ANGELS. didn't you see their blue wings?

  • 2 rings means overheating

  • if you still have the you original x-clamps you shuld use that cause the screws are fail after a few monts or before when i fix x-box360 i always leave them put the x-calmps back i just put washers between the gpu sink and the cpu use the pennys on the chips and if you see the xbox is working you also shuld put the nyko fan on the back to avoid the problem so it dosent come back anymore!

  • 2 lights means over heated either your fan or your heat sink isn't connected correctly

  • the xbox is overheating prob because the heat sinks aint tight enough

  • One down, two to go!

  • Microsoft: "uh yeah... alien possessed it"
