ASUS Transformer Prime: ICS video demo & important information about Root access

I've been thinking about getting one - but I heard that there were wifi issues which were going to be resolved in a new updated transformer prime due to be released in the next while. Any ideas when this new and improved transformer prime will be released?

@sam0smith There aren't really any WiFi issues best I can tell, that seems to have been a complete beat-up from the tech blogs. GPS on the other hand doesn't work well and is a hardware issue as the metal casing interferes with it's signal. Not sure when the updated Prime arrives, not before June I think.

can someone fill me in as to what is rooting, and what are the benefits from it?

My prime got hacked yesterday - someone was controlling it. I was able to uninstall that virus app, and then I used look out to scan my device. I there any other steps I can do to protect my device other than look out or AVG? BTW, how to i confirm that my prime is safe now?

Any pro tip as to what app is safe to download?

Any apps recommendation for my prime?

@kenng329 Wow, hacked?! Really? I wonder what app allowed that. If you're downloading from the Market from reputable developers that should not happen (never happened to me or really anyone else I know). If you install pirated software and have Root access you're asking for trouble though. First app you should get is Tablified from the Android Market - it's an app with a tablet specific Market - a must!

did you had any trouble with the wifi range or the GPS on the prime ? If so, did the upgrade to ICS correct those problems ?

@eagly1 ICS didn't change performance of either as far as I could tell (the problem isn't software based, so wouldn't expect it to). WiFi I've found just fine, I think the WiFi issues have been blown out of proportion. GPS I can't really comment on since I hardly tried it out at all, and the Prime is now with one of my editors for the full review (obviously the GPS will get plenty of attention in the review!).

Nice video, but I have to wait til the beginning of February to get it on my TF101. But I'm looking forward to that as most of the advantages should be present there as well. Has the lag when entering text on websites also been an issue on the Prime which is completely gone with ICS now? Would be another thing I'd definitely appreciate.

@Arjoma92 The lag in typing in the browser is completely gone for me, very pleased about that since it was a problem that really detrimented the browsing experience on HC tablets in what was otherwise an excellent browser.

@IWIH90 Yeah, it's annoyingly difficult to shoot so as to prevent reflection etc. Much easier with phones than tablets too...

@NZtechfreak You may take my advice, it's just the angle between the beam entering the camera and the surface of the tablet, as it comes near to the critical angle; the reflection would be annoying and after the critical angle the reflection would be 100% of the falling beam.... it would be like a mirror :-P haha.... just be careful to make the angle on the tablet 80~90 degree ;-).. wish you the best...
