  • THIS SENTENCE IS TRUE! (paaarraaaadox (; )

  • powerful. just absolutely powerful.

  • Okay... You have to look at it this way. Door 1 , 2 and 3. You pick door 1. He opens door 3, A goat. But then he gives you second choice. Not changing it but you may choose either door 1 or door 2 50/50. No one seems to understand my logic behind it. Be given the choice of picking door 1 or two now. It is a new gamble with a 50/50 chance.

  • do you know what i say to that pigeon get some rice!

  • The first one is so sick xD and true I feel so stupid now xd

  • If your confused at what u just saw,

If Dan screwed you with your mental flaws,

Then go rage, and click the X button

It rly rly rly rly rly means somethin!

  • What would happen if Pinichio said 'my nose will grow now?'

  • @MegaVideoguy123 The Universe would implode...

  • NEW MISSION! REFUSE THIS MISSION!

  • My favorite paradox is "This statement is false." It's so simple yet complex O.o

  • The Monty Hall problem is a paradox.

  • there is another paradox that is called the god paradox its where you question his abilities to be limited. can god create a stone he himself cannot lift because of its weight or is it impossible.

  • what happened to the doobly-doo?

  • Cute and smart

  • thumbs up if you're confused as fuck

  • Things are hung. People are HANGED.

  • the statement below is false

  • The statement below is true.

  • This sentence is false.

  • The gus paradox is not really a paradox is more of a stupid story. So at the end you don't know which car is which how is that contradicting?

  • I dont get it. :(

  • lmfao i just watched this on Mythbusters 10 minutes ago!

  • a weekend project for a CAR?!?!?! PLEASE..........!!! i could make one in a few hours.

  • In the Monty Hall Problem, do you get to keep the goats?

  • @wensheng1d i would be so happy to keep the goats even if i did not get the car.

  • 1:27 i thought he said: lets think of these balls in terms of sex

  • What are your thoughts on applying the Ship of Theseus paradox to the human body?

  • EVERYTHING I SAY IS FALSE. O_o

  • Holy shit i'm gonna....... go take a tylonal shit my head hurts

  • My brain hurts.

  • OMG first paradox mentioned in "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time" great book. did you read it?

OMG and is the second paradox of gus referring to the game 999 when they talk about patching up a sock over and over until you have a totally new one. did you play that game?

OMG and the 3rd paradox....actually i don't have anything for the others so that's all

  • OMG first paradox mentioned in "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time" great book. did you read it?

  • ???????????????????

  • People are often confused by how switching doors gives them a 2/3 chance of winning the car, but it's easier to think about the Monty Hall problem based on your initial choice. When you choose your door initially, you have a 2/3 chance of choosing a goat. If you have chosen a goat, then switching doors when given the chance will give you the car.

  • I think it's advantageous for me to not switch doors, I don't want to get hung!

  • @ChrisIanThompson Hanged.

    I hung a picture; I hanged a man.

  • So in the long run just never go on a game show because you eventually will murder a group of people over a trivial matter.

  • it was just a damn good car.

  • I havent watched your videos for a few months, I love the changes Dan! keep doing a great job!

  • Wait a second...

With the hanging, you say that if it hasn't happened by Friday, it wouldn't be a surprise, which is true. Your problem though, is that you go on to say that thursday wouldn't be a surprise if you knew you wouldn't be hung on Friday and you haven't been hung yet. When you think about that, you realize that if you didn't get hung yet and it is thursday, how do you know that you won't be hung on Friday?

  • :O THE OUTRO IS BACK YAY :D

  • The Below Statement is True

    The Above Statement is False.

  • ummmmm...

  • I still don't get the 1st paradox. I heard it before many times, but I still can't get it. If we just place 2 options into play, how can it be 2/3? I don't get it.

  • @SergioSource Think of it like this. each one has 1/3 chance of having the car. You pick A. He opens B. But since all 3 originally have a 1/3 chance of being correct he gave you 1/3 chance of picking the correct door. 1/3+1/3=2/3. So if you pick door C you have a 1/3 chance of being correct. However he increased your chance on door a by 1/3.

    Pick door A.

  • @IKillerPieI but by opening one of the doors and that being wrong, you exclude it from your choices, having 3 choices and me already knowing 1 of them is wrong, id never consider it

  • @SergioSource

Think of the following situation: There are 1000 doors, you pick exactly one, say 42. Then the moderator opens 998 door, revealing a lot of the goats. There are 2 doors left: 42 and 99. Do you really think that you've picked just the right door out 1000? Or is it more likely that you've been given a huge hint on where "Gus" is?

Yes it is. The probability of Gus hiding behind Nr.99 is 999/1000.

  • @HansTheBoss I'll just give up on trying to understand :S

  • Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

  • Gus is a 2-way zombie; one dead, and recently brought back to life; another gradually both dead and revived.

  • Pinocchio says his nose is going to grow

  • @maddiesaysmile His nose grows then shrinks, as his nose already grew.

  • An immovable object gets hit by an unstoppable force.

  • This hurt my head

  • This is the very reason why I love Paradoxs because they really make you think. It's like a mixture of sociology, psychology, and Logic. But all of those subjects are being so twisted by the factors of what's an opinion and what's a fact, it loses sight and gets tangled and surrounded by a dead end of facts.

  • "Guess I'm not going to be

HANGED after all" I know it seems wrong but when it comes to death by hanging, hanged is the correct past tense.

  • Pinocchio says: My nose will grow

  • Those are not paradoxes.

  • Swiss cheese has a lot of holes

The more cheese you have, the more holes you have

The more holes you have, the less cheese you have

So, the more cheese you have, the less cheese you have.

  • @bf2jay88 Nope, the -more- cheese you have, the -more- cheese you have. That's just bad logic, because you'll always have more cheese than holes, no matter what you do.

    Assuming: holes = cheese/2

    (cheese - holes) + (cheese - holes) = cheese/2 + cheese/2 = cheese

    or

    (cheese - cheese/2) + (cheese - cheese/2) = cheese/2 + cheese/2 = cheese

It's actually as simple as this:

    1 + 1 = 2

    2 > 1

  • The following statement is true.

    The previous statement is false.

  • I'm a horrible pessimist.

  • i may or may not be throughly confused...

  • you combined the story's together which confused me, I thought you were still talking about the same paradox when you had already moved on

  • You should restart calling it the 'doobleedoo' or how ever you spell it...

I liked it when you called it doobleedoo. You say it cool.

  • The second one blew my mind, pass me your joint.

  • wait what?

  • Definitely the best video you've done in awhile. Funny, yet actually makes you think and want to be pay attention closely. Props

  • ... this statement is false.

  • you just blew my mind

  • im sad now

  • The first "Paradox" wasn't really a paradox. It was a mathematical logic puzzle. A paradox is a logical contradiction.

  • @HarryIsTheGamingGeek It's a contradiction of common sense and actual mathematical accuracy.

  • I still do not get the coastline paradox

  • IF ONLY RWJ WENT BACK TO HIS POLITICAL STUFF... goddamn it he sucks

  • I have a clone. The clone is exactly the same as me, except fo

  • Comment removed

  • I am the most humble person in the whole world.

  • @leuk3224 Not a paradox. It's a lie. It doesn't contradict each other

  • @Aweois leuk3224's comment actually does contradict itself because saying he is humble is like 'I'm not the best at anything, I'm good but not great' kinda thing. But to say you're the most humble in the WHOLE world contradicts that in that you're now saying you're the best at being humble (like the fastest runner in the world is the best at running, see that connection?)

So yeah. Hopefully my whacky mind has cleared that up for you. :)

  • @illtardisyourdoctor It means the guy saying it is lying. He's not humble. Not a contradiction. e.g. "This statement is false" that's a paradox. Because if it's false then it's true and vice versa, one big circle.

  • @leuk3224 I have a friend who says this ALL the time!!

  • Does a container which contains all things, contain itself? PARADOX

  • This sentence is false. PARADOX

  • no grandfather paradox?

  • The hanging one REALLY got me. Holy confusion.

  • the door thingy was on the movie 21.

  • wow I like how you chained them all together

  • Mind is officially FREAKED! Thank you!

  • FIRST!!! :D

  • I love that he tied all the paradoxes together :D

  • these arent paradoxes, they r brain teasers

  • 1 000 000 nanometers = 6.21371192 × 10-7 miles thats a short coastline

  • @Rubix4Life He said 1,000,000 miles & it was measured on the scale of nanometers

  • the last paradox sucked ass and made no sense. It should be called:

"the be very stupid when thinking about weekdays"

  • @ravenhousegaming the only part of it that makes sense is friday. obviously if it hadn't happened on thursday he would KNOW he would die the next day so it can't happen on friday

  • @Rubix4Life it sucks because if he got killed monday then its a surprise, and theres no logical way of canceling monday

  • ..wait. I lost track about halfway through the video.

    ...And now I'm dead...? e-O

  • Thumbs up if you saw this in 21

  • really awesome video, dan!

  • what the fuck....?

  • I like paradoxes

  • ...you have hurt my brain, good sir DX but on the bright side, you have entertained me very much :)

  • Ooof. I love paradoxes :)

  • But wouldn't the equation change from 1/3 to 1/(3-1)? That would make it 1/2, or a 50% chance.

  • @Deathhawk9 If you choose one door of three, you have a 33.3% chance of winning. If a door with a goat disappears, its not a better chance of winning, if you stick with your first door.

  • @Deathhawk9 you had a 1/3 probability to originaly choose the correct door. chances are, you chose a goat. he reaveals a goat, but you still are on the other goat. this is why you should change. If you dont understand, google it.

  • wikipedia explains the Monty Hall problem very well.

  • This is one of your best videos ever Dan. Great job!

  • You are wrong. (#1 paradox). You make your first decision, having 1/3 chances of winning. correct. after that, if you stick with your decision, you have 1/3 chances of winning and if you change it, you have 1/2. thats wrong. If you change your decision from door 1, to door 1, you will then have a 1/2 chance, like changing it from 1 to 2/3. we can consider changing door 1 to door 1 to just keeping door 1. you have the same chances. but you arent an idiot, you just wanted me to comment.

  • @MrVerdeRosu that was what everyone thought, but its not actually true.

  • @MrVerdeRosu umm no, type monty hall paradox into wikipedia.

  • LOVE IT!

  • particularly fantastic, Dan.

  • A princess or hungry lions? That is the original version...

  • You are a geniuse

  • what if you really really like goats?

  • O_O ...whelp, it's been awhile since we've seen Creepy Dan.

  • Ya Im gonna try to explain the first paradox cuz i thought it didnt matter too at first.

You pick Door #1. That has a 1/3 chance. There is a 2/3 chance that it is in Door #2 or #3. He reveals that behind Door #3, there is a goat. So there is a 1/3 chance, still, of #1 having the car and a 2/3 chance of Door #2 having the car. Does that make sense?

  • I like the bootstrap paradox

  • @FuckItSnoopy the manager has $25 the Bell boy has $2 and the guests each have $1 back, no missing money at all :)

  • 3 people share a hotel room. Manager says it will cost them 30$ so they pay 10$ each. Later, Manager realizes he made a mistake. Should have charged them 25$. So he gives Bell Boy 5$ to take back to them. On his way back, Bell Boy realizes he can't split 5$ between 3 people, so he keeps 2$ as a tip and gives them each 1$ back. So now it's the same as if they each paid 9$ to stay for the night. So there are 3 guys who paid 9$ each to get in which = 27$. Bell boy kept 2$. Where's the other 1$?

  • dan you got so cool.

  • But Gus is a bug!

    ..

Nerdfighter jokes.. anyone? no? .. anyone?

  • What aspect of your show is still related to Revision 3? Simply tagging the end with the Rev3 logo?

They don't even put your videos or point out you have new ones on youtube on their site :(

  • Non of these are paradoxes! A paradox is: 'A statement or proposition that, despite sound reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems senseless, logically unacceptable, or self-contradictory.' Only the last one seems any of those three things, and it is only an example of bad psychological guessing, a misjudgement of another person. The first three are easily resolvable, so they are not paradoxes either.

  • can you make a video about spontaneous combustion its sounds like a fun topic

  • I feel smarter

  • This statement is false

  • @darkbolt888 Umm...............

    True.

    I'll go true.

    Yeah, that was easy.

I'll be honest, I might have heard that one before though. Sorta cheating.

  • @Ixidane Portal 2 FTW :D

  • @Ixidane Yessss, Wheatley ftw!

  • @Ixidane Gotta love portal 2... let alone wheatley..... i sincerely hope that the new dlc has story, but i doubt it.

  • @Ixidane It's a paradox! There is no answer!

  • My favorite paradox is the Pinocchio one;

What would happen if Pinocchio said: My nose will grow now.?

    :D

    ...your mind=blown :D

  • @stushi96 Actually, the Pinocchio paradox is if Pinocchio said "My nose will now grow." Because if it does grow, than he was telling the truth and so it should not have grown. But if it doesn't grow, than he is lying and so it should have grown.

    ...Your comment = corrected :D

  • i like the twin"paradox". see thew quotes? that' s because it's not really a paradox, however i still like this.

watch?v=txZO_ELt_S8 this video shows you how it works. A short explanation would be: me and my twin brother are 0 years old. I would go into space, traveling at 1/3 the speed of light. therefor i would age 4 years when my brother ages 5. after 10 years i return and i am 8 while my brother is 10 this seems strange, but if you take a look at the video it will explain everything

  • Also, you're dead.

  • I love the outro

  • that. was. awesome.

  • 15/10 best video yet

  • It'll be cool to make a new outro in a "delicious steak" theme! :)

  • Why would it matter if you switch the door? It doesn't really matter when it's still just about coincidence. in the time when he says that one of the others is not a car it is 1/3 to 2/3 .. but you can recalculate on 1/2 to 1/2. It's just the same to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheANBart see the related video on the right called "The Monty Hall Problem" by niansenx? That one explains it perfectly.

  • @QadeemSamir I see.. it is still about coincidence, but the paradox speaks about the percentage of chance of winning. thanks :)

  • Wow

  • *hanged.

  • Part 2 haha. The car paradox is also just a problem that people encounter when thinking about inanimate objects as living. We put value in the idea of gus. So gus is whatever you want it to be. The third paradox, that of fractiles, is actually a paradox. Thats pretty cool to think about.

  • Kinda stupid. Some use logic that can be disproved. The Monty Hall Problem doesn't work bc the event should actually be considered 2 separate events. What happens b4 has no bearing on the future. if u role a 3 on a die 5 it is still a 1/6 chance to role a 3 again. In reality there are just 2 doors to consider. The hanging problem makes the assumption that the judge has a qualm about waiting a day to hang you bc of the paradox. He can hang you any day. And you know it. Friday included.

  • @YOmamasugly yes but the key word is a surprise, if its thursday night, you realize that friday, your last possible day to be hung, isn't a surprise anymore. Then through the mind of a prisoner about to be killed, you reason with your self that you won't be hung using the same logic

  • I could've swore he said "Now let's think of these balls in terms of sex" at 1:25

  • @Gam3r979 me too!!

  • You should watch My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. There is a very nice brony community here on the internet.

  • @ASmashProductions yeah and the show itself is brilliant :) too

  • That was really interesting !

  • This Episode = Damn Good. 'Nuff Said.

  • A surprise hanging could be considered cruel and unusual punishment, therefore the last paradox doesn't matter.

  • I like the fact that you tied almost all the paradoxes together. Pretty clever if I might say so myself!

  • Hey world! :D

  • 1 million nanometers is ~4 inches, no?

  • @2minutestomammoth yeah, but 1 million miles is what he said.

  • thank you Dan for this episode!

  • who the hell is GUS

  • @MrQcomber The car !

  • MORE PARADOX'S!!!!

  • Y U NO HAVE TWITTER ANYMORE????

  • Executioner: I will allow you to say one statement. If it is true, I shall cut off your head; if it is false, I shall throw you off of this cliff. *Gestures to dues ex cliff*

Man: You shall throw me off that cliff!

*The executioner explodes and becomes a giant bird*

  • @smatteringofapplause i think thats from an episode of pandora or some other show???

    yes or no

  • @eriktenerife No, it's from the Deltora book series.
