The melody of each phrase doesn't actually sound too different from the part at 2:23 (this part is the intro in the album version) and I think this song is amazing. Of course, just my opinion.

Antoine, Andy McKee, and Don Ross, are probably among the best acoustic guitarists on the entire planet. That's not to say that other finger style guitarists don't have their technique, technique can be learned through long grueling hours of practice, ...but do they have song writing prowess? Or, more than that, are their songs beautiful and inspired works of genius? This is what Antoine, Andy, and Don Ross have going for them. Both technically mastery AND creative genius.
