Ron Gregory came from Ohio State and developed the script..the band is the best I have ever seen in the late 50s and 60s...high knees, much faster tempo and writing of the UTAH in script ending in crossing the T. The story is that the band was once the greatest and now isn't

The band has a long way to go if they want to compare with big time college football bands. Now that they are in the PAC 12, the first thing is to watch videos of USC, OSU, ND or Michigan bands...or even film of the Ute marching bands of the 60's and 70's.....and learn. A special cadence, a drum major and majorette, getting much bigger, with a fuller sound...

@ScorpDaddy So to be good, we have to copy other bands?

Just so you know, the drumline DOES have a "special cadence," there are multiple drum majors, and the band is over 200 this year. Utah will have a very good drumline and a greatly boosted wind section. That doesn't mean, however, that we'll be changing how we do things just because some people prefer the high-stepping style. Look up UCLA, Texas, or anyone in the SEC and you'll see that there is more than one way to march an excellent band.
