  • bullshit!these are lies.Vangelis has nothing to do with these!

another propagandistic video, monarchy and dictatorships are bad things....

but worst than that is to make the people spill blood for oil pumps and tubes...

wake up,the story is repeated:the cowboys create wars and revolutions just for their causes

NOONE cares about those people freedom and democracy and especially the states!

It's their internal matter and those that appear as peacemakers-liberators are the suckers of earth's blood

  • one thing I know is that vangelis doesn't work for free, luckily the emir has deep pocket cause I'm sure it wasn't cheep, nothing's wrong with that per se, but disclosure would have been nice al jazeera, you just pay him to write that music

  • Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, Yemen, Bahrain, I assume aljazeera will begin to the call for NATO to bomb these country's into democracy.

  • aljazerah the job of the evil hand

  • good. i wished you would ask others like marcel kalifeh

  • @nemitron Thanks!

  • yourtreat2 is an idiot :D

  • "Arab Awakening" is a nice oxymoron.

Trade in your dictators for a theocracy!!!

Now, that's REALLY an "Arab Awakening". LMMFAO!!!!

  • The composition is not new, yes. He wrote it originally in remember of "Alexander The Great", but its a different (shorter) version than on the CD-release. And he made already a concert in Qatar, Doha with a complete new work, supported by stars. Possibly he release a different "Alexander The Great" CD for Arabia in next time, who knows?

  • This is the theme that Vangelis used in the Hollywood film, Alexander.

  • I find the music uplifting, anthem-like. I take it at face value as a musical tribute by an established artist to current historic events. I just don't see why everyone can't be free. There wouldn't have to be any bloodshed if the greedy and the religious zealots would stop telling everyone how to live, then stealing their money and locking helpless people in jails for having opinions, or assets to seize. There is no common sense in any of it. More oppression will only make the people rise up.

  • look how backward the muslims are, thier women treated like possesions and will kill anyone who is not of the same faith, for the sake of your children stop muslim immigration or they will make your nation just like thiers, backward and violent .

  • Vangelis sucks! The old farter has chosen a bad topic for this music - so-called 'Arab revolutions' wich are just sinister.

  • No Kuwait when protesters storm pariment and had a revolution

  • Listen to the 1492 Conquest soundtrack. I have been listening to Vangelis for years. You might also like Tangerine Dream If you like Vangelis .

  • this song needs to be shared with every person on earth. i had never heard of vangelis. but he succeeded in bringing tears to my eyes. there are americans out there who whole heartedly stand by the people of these countries. i say, fight on. freedom is worth it.

  • Fuck the haters.....BASHAR AL ASAD WILL NOT STEP DOWN YOU IDIOTS .. ignorant piece of shit......SYRIA DOES NOT EXIST WITHOUT THE AL-ASAD FAMILY...and you haters must know, that we the Syrian people are in love with our president bashar. Unlike other arab countries, who revolted against the regime...we are Syrians, We are Al-Asad..LONG LIVE SYRIA, LONG LIVE BASHAR....ALAH, SORIA, BASHAR O BASS

  • @george4ever1 oh right, syria isnt shooting its own people, we are just haters! lol

    you sir are a tool

  • master piece by vangalis...still too many dictators ad monarches left in arab world..

  • Curious - a piece commissioned for an Arab Awakening that features no Arab instrumentation or music, instead featuring Western scales, chord movements, and Gothic choir.

Not an indictment of Vangelis' work, btw, but just something I noticed.

  • @jeremiahjacobs I think it has more to do with what that Vangelis guy is European and thus is more known with European instruments.

  • @VictumRoManius Good point.

  • @jeremiahjacobs Personally I think that leaving out instrumentation that remind westerners of the "Arab World" is appropriate in this case. Also, I think that Vangelis did no try to comment on the "Arab Awakening" (were they sleeping earlier?) but rather to capture the spirit of it and express it in his own style.

But you're right, my first thought was the same.

  • @nonicecomment This was pretty much what I was thinking about six seconds after hitting the "Post" button on my first comment.
