  • Because of the height you can max out the distance, rather jumping right off the street which will give you crap bonus damage. It's all about the distance like many have already said and because of the height, that many of you are confused about, gets the hunter further and because of the higher damage. For the trolls about hacked servers, its a mod, I dont know how many different mods there is but I would say 99% uses meta mod+source mod and using plugins to change the cap also extra bonus dmg.

  • This is something that I've known for a long time and many people do not undertsand is that the distance from original pouncing spot so if you go from the same spot but go very high rather than the straight trip to the same target it will not change pounce damage.

  • I was pounced when playing blood harvest a year ago and it said 28 dmg and it snapped my spine killing me instantly. No joke how did it happen. It's been bothering me since then. No joke, dead serious.

    no max is 187 on special servers is this max but normal servers have 25dmg pounce max ye.187 dmg is in last session of sewer no mercy from a highest building in l4d ever u get

  • @Johny333ify The max pounce damage is 25 by default no matter where you pounce from. If, however you have your own server, you can alter max pounce damage to absolutely any value you want. Could make it 99 million if you wanted to. Dont know where you got the value 187 from.

  • Interesting theories. However, once, on versus no mercy level 2 I believe, I was as high as you could go and pounced someone for 25 damage almost straight down. There was a very slight angle to how I jumped but still. It has to do with a combination of height and distance.

  • its not just how high you jump, if you jump from far away you also get more damage, hes just jumping straight up which is why he did so little damage most of the time.

  • im surprised on how people are still looking things like this up? Some hints for noob jumpers - use wall jumps in areas that dont have ledges for farther pounces this is most apparent in crash coarse which clips most of the high ledges

  • you might of never knew, but it depends on the angle of jump. EXAMPLE, at 2:51 the player jumped straight down, 3 floors up and got 8 inflicting damage. aiming up at a 45 degree angle from afar high places give you more damage like the place hes in. you could jump off of no mercy hospital looking at 0 degrees OR straight , no pain but aim up and falling with the flow. BAM! right in the bamhole. 5000 damage with damage mod. but only 25 limits the game. no one but people who pay attention know.

  • The only time i ever got 50 is during no blood haverst i think. The tank hit somebody, and i got lucky and grabbed him in the air, and about 8 seconds after the intail hit i got 50, after i hit the gound

  • dude i got 25 damage points from a pounce and i knocked someone off of the hospital no mercy and still only only got a 25 damage pounce.and then i died.

    so yeah the conclusion is that no one can get 50 damage pounces .and people say that they get 50 damage pounces just to make them sound extremely good at being the hunter.and if they mean pounce someone and a different close by person falls off the edge then their wrong because i have done that before and it's still a 25 damage pounce.

  • I gotta say that most people think that the higher the ground the bigger the damage are noobs.The more speed you move with while in the pounce gives more damage so if you jump from a semi high house but at the right angle that develops more speed that gives more damage...

    House = 1-25 dmg pounces

    25 dmg pounce = Easy as cutting butter.

  • if ur pouncing at ground level the max u can do is about 10 - 11 i did it myself i was trying to aim for 13-15 but could not reach (unless is on a roof wif the triangle shaped top

  • its half luck n half skill. u gotta estimate where to look while about to pounce a survivor by how far he is from you. and you can control ur self in the air a little which is called air controling. you jus loook is the direction where you wanna move n hold the analog stick in that direction. it takes time but yoyu will get it,

  • max is 25 on regular servers. modded servers make it more. hunter damage is calculated by distance first, then height.

    if you jumped straight upward and landed on a survivor, it doesnt count as anything

  • it means straight line distance is the only thing that determines pounce damage.

    It doesnt matter whether you jump really high off the edge of a roof to pounce someone below or you just aim straight down to do it.

    It has nothing to do with the arc length of the hunter's jump, but rather only the distance between the takeoff and landing points

    is it the horizontal floor distance travelled in a straight line (meaning 2 dimensional), or the diagonal distance travelled (meaning 3 dimensional)?

    The pounce damage is defined by the magnitude of the displacement of the hunter after the pounce from the original spot. The path between the points do not mattter.

  • No, it's calculated by how much time you've been in the air AND the distance you've traveled. So if you were in the air for about half a second but you traveled 50 meters, you are going to get 25 dmg pounce =)

  • i dont know but the poster of the video said "we concluded it is not the air time, height, or distance traveled, but the initial A to B distance from the survivor before making the jump". so err air time? if its initial A to B distance then is it a straight line (possibly a diagonal line) from where you left and where you landed, or just the horizontal distance with no height component.

  • Damage dealt is based on momentum. The more force you can generate when you come to a screeching halt, the more damage.

    The cap for normal pounces is 25. This increases however when you knock a person off something that is high, say a ladder. You can easily incap someone by getting a high momentum jump and the two of you both falling to the ground.

    Damage is calculated BY A (start of pounce location) TO B (survivor location) DISTANCE! Nothing more, nothing less. Anyone who suggests otherwise is just ignorant and needs to do a little research before making statements such as this guy ^^^

  • Well yes, but wouldnt it be more or less like it would be a momentum and distance thing. This does sorta of have a realstic gravity engine so I think momentum might have thing to do with it. And if you jump higher and in an arc does that not also increase the distance by the object? Momentum will still be the same cause of physics but the distance will be greater than normal. I wish I could show a graph. It would help.

  • No. There is no other variable in calculating the damage EXCEPT straight-line distance from where you pounce to where you land. If you are 5 feet away from a survivor and pounce really high into the air, you still get 0 damage. If you are 30 feet away and you do a straight line pounce, you get 10 damage or something like that.

    It's A-to-B distance, no more, no less.

  • Kralijevo8 is correct. Momentum would make sense but this is not real life hunter damage is distance from point A to B.

    then if you can, add fall damage..

    and the damage from the slashing party..

    example on fall damage is :

    try pouncing on No Mercy finale, the plan is usually called rooftop ambush.

    if you manage to pounce on the survivor which is still on top of the ladder, you would fall together and get a decent fall damage.

    i dont know what happens if there is still someone else behind the victim on the ladder cus i did it to the last one.

  • there isnt any slow mo in this. any video editing program usually has feature to slow or speed up. Windows Movie Maker is free, I used that for this video.

  • The "50" point pounce has been patched, For example. When i play death toll i jump real high on that rock. If they go up the right side i pounce them as they go up the ladder. It used to do 25 and a huge amount of falling damage but now it only does the 25.

  • the easiest way to kill a survivor is to go on fire which increase yur damage by 3 and u speed up the damage done because of the fire, add the 25 jump damage and if u can, add falling damage

    Val's Tip: If there is a downed Survivor, a good tip to keep him/her downed as a Hunter, is to just Melee. Hunter slashes do 10 damage each, and if there is a Boomer Handy, or another Hunter, the victim's saviors can be distracted long enough for the Survivor to die. I hope I helped.
