  • it would be interesting covering son house songs...

  • It hurts me too man. It hurts me too.

  • Amazing! He's playing the guitar, singing and tapping his foot all at the same time. He puts on one of the best live shows you'll ever see. He always seems to be having a good time up there which is nice to see.

  • great song

  • Clapton does a good version of this too!

  • The guy has an incredible talent, charisma and a great sense of humor. His concerts are just pure joy

  • love how they mic the foot

  • kep mo einfach ein starker blues man

  • it hurts me too, the improvisation on the harmonica is so sad, I'm in tears

  • 7 people don't understand music.

  • Music like this this touches the heart. Keb Mo is one of the best blues artists I ever seen.

  • 7 people dont know good music

  • Keb' Mo' is the REAL thing!

  • Beautiful ol' time blues....Keb's the best!

  • honestly it's not half as good as old versions of that song. Keb Mo's more of a pop-blues singer than a bad motherfucker from the delta to be frank. not too authentic with so many great lights, cameras, such a wonderful stage and so many people in the audience... not a bad version anyway, but still I'm going to roll some Elmore today!

  • dang

  • does anyone know what tuning hes in ?

    thank you.

  • @MVLINEMAN He's in Open G tuning. It's D-G-D-G-B-D.

  • Get to see Keb Mo in Houston on Sunday... psyched...

  • @jtbutlerjr

    I agree

He sounds great, I've never heard of them before but they all play well.

  • You know, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You can always ignore the ones you don't agree with. As far as I'm concerned Keb'Mo or Less nailed this one. It's hard to get that old time feeling and still communicate like this.

  • great Keb mo..sings with feeling. this is the way i think blues should be played with feelingggggggggggggggg from the musician. awesome.

  • uf, od ovoga moze da se rikne...

  • Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator with Reverb Pedal

  • DAM great

    PETER BRUCE PHOTO

  • Long live the king of the Blues

  • Not to troll, but there should be a warning on this video:

"WARNING: THIS VIDEO WILL BLOW YOUR FUCKING MIND"

I was unprepared, to say the least.

  • I can do that

  • now I'm on my knees ...

  • he's got the solution with the blues

  • His resonator is in open G major tuning and the harp is in C major. It's called cross harp. In the key of C when you play in G you get a G Mixolydian mode and a G dominant 7th chord. Alternatively you can play a harp in F major and start on the G (2nd note) and play the G dorian mode. Both work just the F harp has the B flat note which is the minor 3rd in G.

  • @gusset08 You lost me at "His"

  • @gusset08 Wow, I've never thought of playing cross harp with a harmonica of the 7th scale degree. But wouldn't it be F#?

I guess that means a D harp would be Lydian...

And an E harp would be Phrygian...

And an A harp would be Locrian....

I've got some experimenting to do!

  • Keb'mo is a king of blues.

  • uhuuu maravilha de som!

  • sweet jezus, he's goooooood! keb'mo 's my hero

  • All I can say is what a talent!!

  • I hope to work with Keb Mo somtime in the near future...

  • in what key is this bluesharp?

  • @dennisvda1987 key of G

  • @dennisvda1987 key of G

  • sins rap hit the masses I had little faith in the musical progress.

but it's good to see some black artists still stick with the roots.

  • @sks29 this version is so much better then the recorded version

  • Excellent!! is that a National Reso guitar??

  • AWESOME!!

  • Blues means what milk does to a baby. Blues is what the spirit is to the minister. We sing the blues because our hearts have been hurt, our souls have been disturbed.

    Alberta Hunter

  • @smjwood3 I love what you said on this page. You can't feel the blues unless you have had the blues, way deep.. very cool

  • @CassandraAntares sooo true! thank you!

  • @smjwood3

oh please when are you going t get over that shit!!! God!! If i bowed my head when every person treated me badly id be where you lot are.... Look up look to the future and get on with it

  • @shane69999 LOL! It's just good, soulful MUSIC dude.....chill! The deeper music is, the more people can relate, because humans go through so many things in life good and bad. Music helps you get through the tough times. In life there's happiness, sadness, pain, and pleasure. Why not sing about it all?! It's all good! :)

  • @smjwood3

hurts so bad it feeds your soul

  • I would like to see u in Serbia !!!

  • @MissRene76 Me too :)

  • I love u're songs keb mo ... u're a real artist ^^ it's pleasir :)

  • perfect!

  • nice to get some (never enough) shots of his hands. (Not complaining about his face, certainly, which is beautiful, tho). what's the tuning here?

  • saw him in Atlanta in the 90's, still love his sound!

  • 7 people did not like this? Huh?

  • @WEIR4EVER probably they are deaf

  • @WEIR4EVER 7 people are Deaf....

  • @WEIR4EVER Guess 7 people miss clicked :P

  • @WEIR4EVER ~ Ain't It Strange? I couldn't imagine anyone not liking a mo' moment like this. Perhaps they were so blown away they clicked the wrong button by mistake. Perhaps we should send a message to those who manage the blues playlist, to bring it all back home. 1,028 to 7, should be 1,028 um 10,29 to none. Sweet blues, sweet blues. It hurts me to.

  • What i wudnt give to see u play here in sudan/Africa but what are the odds!!! ...

  • I could listen to this song forever and i would be forever entranced by its beauty.

Keep on bluesing this world, Keb.

  • Lee Oscar ~ Keb Mo ~ Johnny Blues ~ aikijb

  • This is a great song by Keb' Mo'. He's an awesome performer. I also like Luther Allison's version. This is blues at its best!!!!

  • Wow this guy is fantastic looks a bit like denzil washington too.

  • man, this is one underatted blueslegend! what tuning is his guitar in?

  • He's so awesome!

  • Does anybody know where this took place? - Wonderful song, thx for posting!

  • simply great but not simply done.

best version of this song not done by Elmore James

  • mes·mer·iz·ing

    1. To spellbind; enthrall: "He could mesmerize an audience by the sheer force of his presence" (Justin Kaplan).

    2. To hypnotize

  • re: marcus: I am Blues-guitarist Montreville Blakely in Natalie Merchant and Friends/ 2006-7, on the same album with Keb' Mo'/ GIVE US YOUR POOR. This bluesman lived his life sharing his moments in a unique blend of Delta- and Southern Blues, much like his white counter-part Duane Allman; both with a signature style of their own. I enjoy both artist equally in articulation and original music. I even enjoy both on other than their own material. Brand New America by Keb' made my heart tell my eyes

  • @toozblues - I did a search for Duane Allman, and you're right. He's GOOD@

  • The Blues live! This is like heaven for someone who's favorite musician is Robert Johnson!

  • @rdahlem - thx for the insight, just listened to Robert Johnson for the 1st time. He's awesome. I'm adding him to the collection as well as Duane Allman, thx

  • this has got to be my favorite modern version of this classic

    wonder what tuning he's using?

  • amazing performance!

  • If you enjoy Delta Blues

  • If you like Delta Blues

  • I saw Keb' Mo' open for B.B. King in Traverse City, MI. Blew me away. B.B. was great, too, of course, but I hadn't known who Keb' Mo' was until I saw him play.

  • @sks29 with you on that man

  • @sks29

  • I loved this. Great performance. COOL.

  • Keb Mo.....Just start calling him Mr. Keb Mo.....:)

  • This guy's an absolute genius.

  • A one man band. I love it..

  • All Asian, and middle eastern, all African, European, all pacific islanders, all men, and women, and rich and poor, all young and old and gay and straight and every shade and every color in every conceivable instance and heritage and religion and educational background like Keb Mo', more or less. I think he is great. I think he is unique unto himself, probably a nice guy and probably authentic and sincere in his artistic expression. We could all strive to do better. We could all do our best.

  • @phathead0

    Amen !

  • man this guy has a good voice

  • OMG it don't get any better than that! Its' so good I have to put a coat on to listen to it, gives me the chills LOL

  • Well said!!! I just started playing and tell you what, no easy feat to make it sound as natural & fluent as he does! It's an art, & he does it, a great justice! It's a fool who doesn't pay this man the upmost respect!! He certainly has mine! I hope one day, I can shake his hand, & maybe get lucky enough to have him sign my resonator!

  • @natsway It don't matter how many whites love the blues, it's a black think and always will be though you hate that and send one white dude after another to try and be as great as a Keb Mo or muddy waters secretly. We know your true feelings about everything black in this country.I hate you mother fuckers to death!!!!!!! Just like you hate my president to death mother fuckers!

  • @NOTEWORKERnm1

Ya know, there's "ONE" in every bunch that has their "heads" stuck so far up their "ass" their drowning in their own shit!!! It's pointless to waste your energy on one so "penile", they wouldn't "get it" if ya drew it out for them!! But, I sure do hear what your saying!!!

  • @NOTEWORKERnm1 Would you say a white/non-black is about 3/5th a blues man as compared to a black man? Lol that's real funny.

    You're on a wind up.

  • @NOTEWORKERnm1 bro i dunno where you grew up, sounds like middle of a kkk camp or somethin. actually it sounds like you haven't grown up. either way you couldn't be more wrong about the blues and music in general. you're just as bad as these white supremacists that hate non-whites, you just happen to be at the opposite end of the color spectrum. music lovers....true music lovers...are at the opposite end of the ideology spectrum and the only color i care about is (the) BLUE(s)

  • @thevuduchild FULLY

  • @NOTEWORKERnm1 i am of mixed race (white south african + chinese) and i have a son. i would love for him to date a black girl...but you're right, not your daughter...hate is passed on through generations so i imagine that your daughter is just as hateful a person as you. like the movie Bullworth said: "everyone gotta keep fuckin everyone til we're all the same color" amen!

  • i think blacks only dig hip hop now.

  • @roaringwaterbay I was waiting for a stupid ass white fool to make a dumb ass comment like that and it didn't take long. You don'y know shit about black people for starters exept what you think and see on fox news and every other racist ass publication that white people profess is an acurate desciption of the adverage black and what they feel or do etc . It takes a black man to know one true and true idiot!

  • @roaringwaterbay #2 Though many of our young people may not understand the blues and what it represents, the overwhelming majority does idiot! How dare you make such a dumb ass statement about my people! White people think because they see nothing but white faces in his audience that they can say shit like that, just like the word NIGGER. That just shows how blind white people are to the black experience in this country.

  • @roaringwaterbay You think like all white do in that because you see hardly any blacks that you own Keb mo and that we don't like the blues. You see, thats the tea party mentality that is based on a group of racist middle /upper class white people like you! You think because you don't see any blacks that we abandoned our black president, but wait an see.Any way, when keb comes to our side of town it's packed dumb ass, and we do not all like hip hop dumb fuck!

  • @roaringwaterbay This is why i hate white people so fucking much! It's not enough that you stole the blues and tried to make it your own, but know you think we just abandoned it because our young people created a new sound for themselves, forget about the billion black people that love the blues to this day.Thats just how white America thinks about race in this country, stupidly and clueless!

  • @roaringwaterbay You white folks love some Keb mo HUH? but let a black man move next door to you and your daughter wants to date his son, or vise versa. Fuck if he is an professional person or a tax paying american, he's a nigger first and always to you people. Not one of you here can say you would let my son date your daughter , or even keb mo's son for that matter. He's a good nigger as long as he don't try to move next door, Right?

  • @roaringwaterbay Not one of you would let a black girl or young man date you kid, but you love Keb mo HUH? as long as his kids don't mix with your's. Thats white america for you, we love him as long as his black ass stays in the hood and don't infect our OUR hood. Do think we don't know this FOOL? You people don't know shit about the blues! It's the only thing left that you haven't stolen and made your own likes so many try.

  • @roaringwaterbay The blues was created to help my grand daddy deal white the brutality of white america then and now, but more so then. Then you tried to steal there creating and make it your own, but it never worked and never will. There will never be a white blues man beloved more then a blacked simply on the basis of it's creation. But as always, you still try to steal anything you want.

  • @roaringwaterbay You don't know shit about what black people like mother fucker! But you sure do know how to say dumb shit don't you? You white people think we don't come here, so you can say what ever racist shit you want, but you are donkey fucked idiot, because he i am and i will not stand for this stupid shit! You people are trying to get my president asassinated for trying to help the poor which 70% black, enough is enough!

  • @roaringwaterbay Even with a black man as president, not a fucking thing has changed exept the white mans anger and more usage of the word nigger in these comment rooms and the country becaus this man wants to help us out of what your white moron president got us into years ago! This is bigger then Keb Mo. Your statement shows how fucking clueless you people really are!

  • @NOTEWORKERnm1 shut the fuck up you IGNORANT racist. Enjoy the fucking music.

  • Which resonator is he playing?

  • @reckonimokie National Style guitar which version im not sure. Maybe a Style O.

  • @jbsoccerbrit Style N - Nickel alloy. Keb doesn't like any engraved guitars like style O

  • Keb'mo is the best <3

  • The King of Blues!

  • Just wonderfull blues :D

  • This man has a direct line into the Roots of blues, no doubt about it, and not only that, he's inventive too... Who better to carry the Blues into the 21st century?!

  • sansomdela, he's playing in switzerland.....

  • Not being funny but why is everyone in the audience white? Don't black americans listen to blues??

  • I think that's in Italy dude!!!

  • lol

  • Hey Mo, seen you at House of Blues N.O. Feb 27th. best night i had in a long long time. ever want to meet the Cajun Captain, sure we'd hit it off. Hurry Back i plan on bringing the "Gang"

  • Keb is a breath of fresh air to the blues.

Not since "young Bob"Cray has a greater talent emerged in my opinion.

    What do I know..being a honky !!! Peace..x

  • THIS HERE BE THE BLUES!!! Tell ya what, this is by far, the best "rendition" of this song I've heard!! I am in my "infancy" playing a resonator & although I may not play it near as good, I'm freakin lovin it!! Without video's like this, I would still be just "Looking" at my resonator instead of playing it! So, with much gratitude, I thank "Chugbug01" for posting this, both for enjoyment & to learn from!!!

  • i met him yesterday @ the coffee shop on the blues cruise, then we hung out for like 2 1/2 hours 1 on 1 just shooting the breeze!

  • to play the blues you must have gone through hell and back. Certainly he has a lot of Feelin' and a lot of emotion in his playing. =..) The blues always will make you feel good in the end..

  • God bless HAITI, your people are on my prayers.

  • man...people who call this simple just straight up dont know what their talking about, seriously just try and do this.... when i hear this song i hear the same greatness as when i hear bach or mozart, or jimmy page, or derek trucks this is what its all about....such an underatted performer can't wait see him live one day

  • No offense, Keb Mo is good, but Jimmy page or Derek Trucks is another level, I mean sure.. Blues is not something everybody's got and Keb Mo is pretty good. Still theres none better than Elmore James or Robbert Johnson

  • fair enough man, differance of opinion is what makes music what it is...but I can't argue with my ear and my ear tells me keb mo is gonna be looked back on with fond fucking ears, you can worship the greats, we all do, but you have to keep lookin at the future and all I meant is that i see a promise in keb mo that i also see in Trucks and I used page as an example of what these fella's will become....not tryin to start a fight mate so no offense taken...unless some was meant ?

  • Nah course not, It came out a little off.

I mean I was born with the blues and I grew up with it.. Living with people who been in the music for over 45 years so, Music is my life.

Just I can't stand people talking bout it while they dnt know what its about and I had tht earlier, No offense to you at all

  • Hullo MysteryHunterz..No offence here either mate..did you know Jimmy Page done a guitar duel against Richard Thompson some years ago.

Reputedly Thompson( a Folkie) plugged in..and blew him away. Urban myth?

    Who knows ?

  • @johnmckinlay67

    no myth.

  • @ jazzstan..Cheers mate. Some folks think decibels rather than finesse !
