man, thanks for having this video, it brought back some memories and i see why those days the nba was better. they all played hard plus had love and respect for themselves (at least on court) and the game.now that i watched this game again it looks to me at the end something weird went on, im thinkin kj shot an airball, malone caught it and they called interference? and peep how they didnt have the alley-oop term yet hardaway threw robinson a dime on that play
I'll tell you what...There's NOTHING Michael Jordan cannot do on a basketball court. My God, has there ever been another player with his full array of skills and the willpower to use them to their full potential the way MJ did?
i search an alley oop of robinson and a pass by Magic. The dunk was a back dunk when robinson gets the ball in the air. The pass was from the backcourt!! And i don't remember if it was in this all star game, but this one is not complete in the 3rd quarter and in the 4th so i can see if it's in this all star game. If somebody can tell me if he has ever seen this all ey oop send me a message please.
@mikebenardi haha are you serz??? 91 mj over 2006 kobe noo waayy! mj would rip kobe to shreds...98 mj vs 06 kobe..kobe might have a chance..but mj is 10 times better defender than kobe..soo errr....do the maths
@fatpatlives1998 Quite the opposite. Kobe doesn't even believe this garbage you're typing into your keyboard. Take off your Black Mamba tee-shirt and get a grip.
@fatpatlives1998 The 81 point argument is the dumbest argument in the Kobe MJ "debate". Absolutely dumb, especially since it was against the worst defensive team in the league which had so many injuries that they had the most number of 10 day contracts. It's really reaching. It's like there's nothing else so let's pull out the 81 point game ish. Here's one for ya, MJ's ppg in the playoffs is 8 points higher than Kobe's, despite having to go through the Bad Boys and the Knicks year after year.
that was my first time that i look basketball and that was the good times!! today, there are no real superstars...and charles barkley is the best PF ever!!!

Bunch of STUPID calls in this game. I know they order the refs to lay off for this game, but common sense should NEVER take a day off. Thank God fans weren't able to vote for MVPs back then because Jordan would win it every time.
And what the hell was Malone thinking on that last shot?
Wow...a true bonehead play by the Mailman...a different play altogether, but it reminds me of Jermaine O'Neal's foul on Kobe Bryant that sent the 2003 All-Star Game into an additional overtime period...right after Jordan had given the East the lead with his stunning fadeaway from the right corner. So sad...
The best part I remember about these guys is how hard everyone played. If someone had a breakaway dunk the other team would let them have it but other than that it was pretty intense. Today Defense is a joke in the All-Star game which really takes away from the competition
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Todays All star game is better than the 90's All-Star that's because of KOBE BRYANT. Dwight Howard and LeBron James are enough to entertain the crowd by wonderful dunks. FYI, Kobe scored 81 points. MJ never had that stat throughout his career.
"Todays All star game is better than the 90's All-Star"
Oh really? Care to explain WHY ratings for the ASG & the NBA for that matter, have been at their LOWEST since the 90's? So fans stopped watching 'cause it's better?
"Kobe scored 81"
MJ has 10 scoring titles, 8 straight 30+ppg seasons, the Highest All Time Reg Season & Playoff Scoring avg, the Highest All Time Finals Scoring avg, 4 of the Top 11 PPG per 48 min seasons & a 32ppg 49.6 FG% Finals avg
well to be honest 81 points sure as hell is impressive and Kobe is more wellrounded (well he got a better 3 points shot that pretty much it that MJ didnt really have)
but kobe got 4 titles but who knows well see he aint gonna retire soon
During MJ's 1st 3-peat, his combined 3-pt % was 38.7%..B4 the line was moved in. During kobe's 3-peat, his combined 3-pt % was 36.3% AFTER it was moved in.
Kobe career wise is ONLY 2% better than MJ, meaning he shoots MORE of 'em, but isn't necessarily that much better from out there..
but today ist lot more easier to score and i think if jordan had played with the same conditions then he would also have had a game with more than 80 points!!!!
don't say crap.MJ is the best of all the time.Kobe isn't even greatest LA Laker of all the time.Magic Johnson is better........greet from Serbia to everybody who agrees with me!!!!!!!bye bye kobe
Could not agree with the comments in here more. The Allstar games and the Allstar players in the 90's they a much better job playing the game. They actually played the game like it's suppose to be played, hard on both ends. The games these days are just a tad above street ball. Sure it's entertaining, but then it's gets boring quick. Miss the 90's NBA.
Said it before and I'll say it again. Karl Malone may have had better career stats and maybe better numbers during the season with Stockton feeding him. BUT I would pick Barkley any day of the week over Malone for my PF position. He's just a BEAT and 5"'s shorter than Karl. Runs the floor well and has a nice handle. Inside he just rolls through even the centers because he's like 260+. Good old days. MJ had some crazy shots this game too. This is before Ewing was a jump shooter too LMAO!
Because back then people were so stuck on the moves they were doing the refs never paid attention to what their feet were doing. This was the era where highlight reels just being to surface.
Gret game though. I remember it so well. Tom Chambers and KJ made the All Star game and Charles came over the next year.
Still, all these guys are legends, except for maybe kevin duckworth. still, the trailblazers did it right that year, as they had three guys there (porter, drexle, and duckworth)
but he like as many centers of his class (Olajuwon, Mutombo, Shaq, etc.) don't had the ability to run fast, jump high, dunk spectacular, court to court fast breaks ending with a dunk like David Robinson does in his early years. Robinson is 7 footer with the ability of a 6 footer player...
I dont know man. I agree with you about DRob, his athleticism was unprecedented for a big man, but I think you're overlooking how athletic Ewing, a young Shaq and particularly Olajuwon were. Granted, Ewing was never much of a sprinter, but you ned to check old footage of Hakeem. His speed and quickness was incredible. I have no doubt he would tear the league up even today.
Shaq had some serious ups back in the day aswell, when he was more around the 290-303lbs mark. Check his rookie year.
Will someone please explain to me why David Robinson started for Hakeem The Dream a player that by then had definetly prooved as the Best Center in the NBA and had taken the Rockets to the Finals in 1986? Regarding his age and experience this was also a Disrespectuful!
David Robinson in his first 5 seasons (90-94) was on his best level (better than The Dream), an atractive player to watch, agile with the quickness & skills that many centers don't have (acrobatic dunks, high level alley-ups, fast breaks, etc). That why he deserved to be as a started in these all star games. The following years Robinson played with less intensity and Olajuwon started to rise his level again like his early years... That not an insult what you said here, is the reality...
I don't know.. that three pointer at the in looked kind of short to me. I don't think it would've went in. To me, it looked like it would've bounced off the front of the rim but I guess it's because the quality of the video during that play was kind of sloppy (Not trying to offend anyone of course)
I wish Isiah was playing in this game. Thomas was hurt with the breaking of the tendons in his shooting hand which caused him to miss 34 games and ultimately cost the Pistons a 3-peat.
I still to this day hate Karl Malone because of this play. That selfish @#$*! cost my favorite player the All-Star MVP. If I met him in person I'd tell him the same thing.
When Amare Stoudemire dunked on Malone during a regular season game in Phoenix in 2003, I was there and loved every second of it. But it still doesn't change what he did.
Malone was selfish, dirty, and a horrible teammate. I remember one Suns-Jazz game where Malone elbowed Elliott Perry in the chin after grabbing a rebound. Knocked Socks out cold. Perry was out before he hit the ground. His head hit the floor with a sickening "thud." The refs called NOTHING. I think if the other four Suns on the floor had gotten a hold of Malone we may have had the first on-court murder in NBA History.
Next Suns-Jazz game? Malone tried it again, only this time. . .
He busted Isiah one time too. Cracked his head. Not only was Malone selfish and dirty and horrible.. he was also a pussy who only picked on smaller players. Total loser.
wow what defense, even in an all star game...shows what the mentality back then was...they all wanted to win and played hard every night (even in an all star game) yet Jordan still controlled the nite and was able to get his buddy Chuck the MVP award
The finish reminds me of 2003 when Michael hit what should have been the gamewinner and then Jermaine O'Neal just fouls Kobe at the other end of the floor. Kobe definitely missed a free throw on purpose because he knew the game couldnt end that way.
Robinson WAS dominant from 1990-1995. Once Olajuwon dominated him in 1995 and David got injured afterward he was never the same
i was sayin no to the "barkley was better" comment....... i agree with you trj Robinson WAS dominant but I thought he was gonna be MUCH MUCH more dominant than he ever ended up being was what I was saying.
this is when 7 footers were actually centers. and 6'9 meant pf. IM TALKINN TO YOU DUNCAN, KG, J.O, AND THE REST OF YOU 7 FOOT TRUE CENTERS THAT WANNA BE CALLED 6'11 POWER FORWARDS FOR SOME REASON! (escpecially Duncan, i understand he was called pf cuz robinson was there but he always been a 5 and always will be a 5. only reason he kept the pf label is cuz when david left TD had 2 rings by then and was bein mentioned as best pf ever, so he kept the pf label. td's the anchor. HE'S A CENTER!)
no nique Cant believed he missed a windmill!!!!!!!! Maybe he partied to hard the night b4 as I heard the all star athletes due during their allstar break!lol
my whole life watching david robinson i always thought he was gonna be the most dominant center of alltime... just never happened. he had everything it took physically for it to happen. i think he may have lacked that focus/"killer instict".
But what reason has it to be quoted here? I CHOOSE not to believe in that shit, some people choose to, it's their choice, but it shouldn't be quoted when i'm trying to watch basketball, if I wanted to hear it, I'd go to church!

Come, now. Thomas was around for the playoffs, and still the Bulls swept the Pistons in the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals. Jordan's time had come.

charles barkley didn't start playing for the west untin 1993 when he was traded to the suns, to answer the question by the user who's under me.
jgay16 4 years ago
I thought Jordan and Charles were playing at differernt conference during that time. Anyone know why they are on the same team?
zatoichi123456 4 years ago
Charles was a sixers before he moved to the west

I still to this day hate Karl Malone because of this play. That selfish @#$*! cost my favorite player the All-Star MVP. If I met him in person I'd tell him the same thing.
When Amare Stoudemire dunked on Malone during a regular season game in Phoenix in 2003, I was there and loved every second of it. But it still doesn't change what he did.
TheBigE1980 4 years ago
Malone was selfish, dirty, and a horrible teammate. I remember one Suns-Jazz game where Malone elbowed Elliott Perry in the chin after grabbing a rebound. Knocked Socks out cold. Perry was out before he hit the ground. His head hit the floor with a sickening "thud." The refs called NOTHING. I think if the other four Suns on the floor had gotten a hold of Malone we may have had the first on-court murder in NBA History.
Next Suns-Jazz game? Malone tried it again, only this time. . .
TheBigE1980 4 years ago
he hit his own teammate. Sweet justice for Malone. Showed the Jazz fans what the rest of the league had to go through.
TheBigE1980 4 years ago
He busted Isiah one time too. Cracked his head. Not only was Malone selfish and dirty and horrible.. he was also a pussy who only picked on smaller players. Total loser.

Why don't they make white American players like Stockton, Mullin, Chambers, Price etc anymore, most good Honkies are from overseas these days.
curtleyambrose 4 years ago
Players had a different level of intensity back then, even at an all star game. All star games now are so boring to watch.

it's all about defense that creates offense.
icemanarc 4 years ago
wow what defense, even in an all star game...shows what the mentality back then was...they all wanted to win and played hard every night (even in an all star game) yet Jordan still controlled the nite and was able to get his buddy Chuck the MVP award

Aw, 'Nique blew it hard and long on that windmill! That was amusing.

how bout uploading the rest of that game

The finish reminds me of 2003 when Michael hit what should have been the gamewinner and then Jermaine O'Neal just fouls Kobe at the other end of the floor. Kobe definitely missed a free throw on purpose because he knew the game couldnt end that way.
Robinson WAS dominant from 1990-1995. Once Olajuwon dominated him in 1995 and David got injured afterward he was never the same
TRJ22487 4 years ago
i was sayin no to the "barkley was better" comment....... i agree with you trj Robinson WAS dominant but I thought he was gonna be MUCH MUCH more dominant than he ever ended up being was what I was saying.
gocelts34n7 4 years ago
ye thats true i thought robinson was gonna be much more dominant than he was, after that series vs hakeem he wasnt the same anymore
falkner23 4 years ago
this is when 7 footers were actually centers. and 6'9 meant pf. HE'S A CENTER!)
gocelts34n7 4 years ago
no nique Cant believed he missed a windmill!!!!!!!! Maybe he partied to hard the night b4 as I heard the all star athletes due during their allstar break!lol
truballar2003 4 years ago
barkley reminds me of a half foot shorter version of kg without the shotblocking and with more 3 pointers.
gocelts34n7 4 years ago

my whole life watching david robinson i always thought he was gonna be the most dominant center of alltime... just never happened. he had everything it took physically for it to happen. i think he may have lacked that focus/"killer instict".
gocelts34n7 4 years ago
Did Malone have money on this game or something? WTF was he thinking????
MobyLick 4 years ago
best move in the game? besides Malone's tap it's gotta be that statue basket at 1:18..One of the most beautiful moves i've ever saw MJ make
rrTale 4 years ago
3:18 is a signature Michael Jordan play
jaboo82681 4 years ago
-What happened there Dominique?
-I ran out of film.
:))Great stuff. Ewing dunk on Robinson is nasty. Ewing and DRob would have dominated this era of weak centers.
Barkley's two handed power dunks are impossible to plagiarize.

Actually, they got dominated by Hakeem.

People are here to witness some basketball brilliance, not to be preached to! Show some respect! Not everyone shares the same views!

Its amazing how defensive some people get when the bible is quoted...
Mannythaballer32 4 years ago
But what reason has it to be quoted here? I CHOOSE not to believe in that shit, some people choose to, it's their choice, but it shouldn't be quoted when i'm trying to watch basketball, if I wanted to hear it, I'd go to church!
CUGKS 4 years ago
if you dont want to "hear", it why dont you ignore it and watch the video
