@cblt2007 Some cars pull ahead in lets say 0-60 but after that the other car may be better so a 10 meter or an 50 meter race is not the real thing....If that was the case then in tracks we wouldnt have 500m drag races.

A4s lose in the long run because of drivetrain loss. even though there power is almost symetrical FWD has no drivetrain loss. what you put at the crank you basically put at the wheels. AWD will give you better launch but long run you lose power through it.
oh okay what year is your Audi. My buddy has an A4 but his is AWD. I race him in my non turbo saturn ion and he beats me at launch but i catch up around the 70 mph range.
I NEVER HEARD OF A SATURN ION...... but lemme tell you, that i raced one the other day.. he had a two car head start and I didnt pass him until 4th gear... he kept the head start lead all the way up tp fourth gear... i was REALLY IMPRESSED.. it was much Quicker than I expected... I've driven an S4. Thing is a work of art and considering I pull only 30k a year, work full time at that, full time college student. I'm friends with a few Audi guys and they're all rich kids with rich parents. Sorry - not me.
Redline's are fast enough for me an the majority of the population of people out there. Considering a lot of the parts are still on the cobalt, those parts will be just fine.
And considering I bought my redline used with 30k on it for 10 grand...I saved a lot
And for the record...I shouldn't have to tell you about Audi's unreliability record. They make amazing engines, but I'd be on the street even if I bought a lazy A4.

Considering in the last 4 years American car sales have been higher than imports you really dont know what your talking about. I worked at a dealer ship for 2 years and sold maybe 3-4 imports..... most people wanted cars that are actually comfortable. 3 of the imports i sold were BMW 5 series too.... which you cant get much more comfortable than that.

The redline stock weighs about 2995 LBS. this is more than most all "spot compacts" ... The hood roof and truck are the only expossed metal areas the rest of the car is metal "no waste" but 78% is covered in plastic.. So ya to move that much weight takes some fuckin muscle. The Ion got dropped because of sales. That's why it was discontinued just like everything else. It's a very reliable car and shouldn't be bashed so much since I actually own my Ion for 5 years. BTW The Ion Redline/Cobalt SS is considered a sports compact car. Also your posts...are you really 24 years old?! Geez, your life must suck...
i own a 2004 ion 3 quad, i bought it new. the cvt trans has gone out 3 times in 4 years. the body panels are plastic. the interior looks like it was put together with elmers glue. lets be honest an ion or colbalt isint really a "sports car" it is what it is. its a 4 banggers with good mpg. nothing more. sure you can add a turbo and make it fast, but the car was not design for that. it would just fall part. i know quite abit about cars. im not a noob.

I also own an 04 Ion 2 QC and almost paid off. The CVT is weak and kills my car acceleration and failed once, but it came from Fiat. The 05 and up have the GM 4 speed auto and the quality keeps being upgraded.

Since my car is almost paid off and the Ion Redlines are rare to find. I may look into buying an Lexus IS350.

Nope. Just a lawsuit that involves some states not including TX. Anyone who owned a CVT that had to pay after warrenty will get their money back. My CVT broke before it expired so I got lucky. It's not settled yet but you should be able to find it on google.

Actually i "worked" at a dealership but your not that good at grammar and comprehension. I was top 1% of every standardized test issued throughout all of schooling. I finished my AA before i graduated high school from Highline Community College with a 3.9 OAGPA. I majored in natural sciences and am working on my pre-req's to switch to electrical engineering for my BA. The redline stock weighs about 2995 LBS. this is more than most all "spot compacts" ... The hood roof and truck are the only expossed metal areas the rest of the car is metal "no waste" but 78% is covered in plastic.. So ya to move that much weight takes some fuckin muscle. The Ion got dropped because of sales. That's why it was discontinued just like everything else. It's a very reliable car and shouldn't be bashed so much since I actually own my Ion for 5 years. BTW The Ion Redline/Cobalt SS is considered a sports compact car. Also your posts...are you really 24 years old?! Geez, your life must suck...

i own a 2004 ion 3 quad, i bought it new. the cvt trans has gone out 3 times in 4 years. the body panels are plastic. the interior looks like it was put together with elmers glue. lets be honest an ion or colbalt isint really a "sports car" it is what it is. its a 4 banggers with good mpg. nothing more. sure you can add a turbo and make it fast, but the car was not design for that. it would just fall part. i know quite abit about cars. im not a noob.

I also own an 04 Ion 2 QC and almost paid off. The CVT is weak and kills my car acceleration and failed once, but it came from Fiat. The 05 and up have the GM 4 speed auto and the quality keeps being upgraded.
Thanks for the clearing up but don't make a domestic vs import war performance or quality since it's a never ending battle.
Since my car is almost paid off and the Ion Redlines are rare to find. I may look into buying an Lexus IS350.

Nope. Just a lawsuit that involves some states not including TX. Anyone who owned a CVT that had to pay after warrenty will get their money back. My CVT broke before it expired so I got lucky. It's not settled yet but you should be able to find it on google.

buick is HUGE in china, and china is a potential big market for GM, that's the only reason why.
i love pontiacs and cadillacs, and some saturn models. they should just copy japanese models, that will save them.
whenever they try to be europeans it fails. europe car sales are nowhere near american and japanese sales, people want cheap and quality not luxury and expensive maintenance.

if GM fails they must sell Chevy, Caddy, and Buick, their best brands. i like the current Pontiac and Saturn lineup, but they reacted too late.
is it too late? i can't say. they aren't like Chrysler, there's a whole lot in stake here. their biggest problem is rebuilding their reputation. ford has one the the more reliable cars, but do people know that? the Corolla is a BAD, awful car, but it's a Toyota, ppl will buy it for it's name.

The saturns are quick.. but the cobalt ss's are quicker. They are lighter.
But the a4 is at the BOTTOM of the list of Audi.. try an s4 or rs4. The A4 is just an entry level luxury car.
But try racing a chipped/dp/k04-015 A4. You'll get layed the fuck out with ease
Both cars are nice. But the Audi is a high-end Luxury car.

if you are talking about the B7 RS4/S4, (4.2L N/A V8) they are not turbo. The b5's (2000-2002, 2.7t) were biturbo.

limited slip differential -- this is my 6th Saturn. Each was great. Had 3 SC1 models from 93 to 02... then an 05 Redline, then 06 Redline, then 07 Redline...

I think Saturn - crappy. Some of the newer models look nice, but considering the laughable bullshit Saturn made (and laughable in every way) up to this point, I don't think I'd ever buy one. I'd rather have a Chevy Cobalt SS if I had to go domestic (which I wouldn't - the Japanese actually put effort into their cars). At least it isn't a fucking Saturn. And by the way, I've got a Honda S2000 - which has a 2 liter non turbo that crushes the Sky's turbo motor. Go figure.
