@zagor1974 Yeah, in the 70s, TV shows borrowed whole movie plot lines for an episode. There was an episode of the Incredible Hulk that was JUST LIKE the 70s movie of the week called "duel" that starred Dennis Weaver. It was such a blatant rip off that it was pathetic.
Yah, i saw this on tv; couldn't have been long after the theater showing. I was about 9. Always remembered the chanting; wondered what they were saying. Sounds nothing like I remembered. Ha ha.
What's so scary about this movie is it is so plausible; this could easily happen to any couples anywhere traveling in the USA, there are more than enough satanists who would love to do this to strangers.
Warren Oates at 4.10 - "I'm gettin' too old for this S*it' - Sgt Hulka outta Stripes prefigured, just before he goes crashing through the security gates on the roof of the RV... Brilliant.
Last time I tried to find this was two years ago. I didn't realize this movie was available for this long. I saw it on TV 2 years in a row 1981 & 1982. I thought is was like the film Dying Room Only where it was never made for the theatre. It'll be interesting to see if I like it now as I'm so much older and I critique differently, whether movies, books, TV shows, music.
A very realistic scene. The two characters are outside having a few drinks, when a satanic ritual occurs. During the course of observing the ritual a girl is murdered. My heart was pounding when the satanist spotted the two characters and starting chasing them. I can see how this could really happen. The ending of this movie gave me nightmares.
I love this movie. Yes it was a made for TV movie. It scared the crap out of me because I lived in a very rural area. I LOVE the ending.....It is just a very well thought out movie.
This does happen...when I was little my uncle took me to cut wood with him. While looking for dead trees we found two small dogs skinned tied to a tree by their entrails. There is also a place near Hungry Valley near Reno where this stuff happens. The entire area is marked with the black pitch fork burned into trees, a large fire pit in the middle...and the ground has been soaked with blood, the soil is hard and compact with a dark brown or red color and it smell like a slaughter house.
This really IS realistic. I was only two, back when this was made, but I remember people like that. That's exactly what people who owned machine shops looked like, and what their wives looked like. And this was their idea of a good time. It's totally plausible, so far, which means the scary parts will be scarier when they come along.
@MsLadyEeyore yeah me too ,,,, it was when the females were females unlike nowdays the females are fucking with us daynight and we cant stop them LOOLZ
I don't remember this being in the theaters in '75... I remember this as a "made for t.v." movie! This was back in the day when CBS, NBC, ABC showed "movies" in prime time! This was one of the best!
@mrob75 I saw it as a kid at my local theatre back in 75'. That's when little kids could see PG and R rated movies without adults. As long as you had a dollar for the ticket clerk, they let you in.
@mrob75 Yes, this movie played in theaters then. In 1975 I was projectionist at a drive-in in Sulphur, Oklahoma, and we ran it then. I thought it was pretty good, but surprisingly, it did only so-so business. Admission was $1 for adults, and 25 cents for under 12.
starting at about 2:18 Ginger just KNOWS something is amiss - giving a warning. I grew up with all kinds of pets, I KNOW when they are trying to tell me something.
do u remember the movie "terror on the beach" 1973?. with sasan Dey and Dennis weaver. about a family camping in a rv that gets terrorized by a hippie like cult. great movie. reminds me of this movie
the starsky & hutch episode with a similar story was better cause starsky and hutch are colle and those people are not, they are just too fucked up

What cracks me up about this film is it's really not a very pretty camping spot at all.

Well, a nice secluded area. No one around for miles maybe. The perfect place to kick back and do your thing without prying eyes around.
Then some tourists come riding up in a motorhome and crash our satanic barbecue!!!
