"Rooney...in 1964, launched another half-hour sitcom, Mickey, on ABC. The story line had "Mickey" operating a resort hotel in southern California. Son Tim Rooney appeared as Rooney's teenaged son on the program, and Emmaline Henry starred as Rooney's wife. It lasted 17 episodes, ending primarily due to the suicide of co-star Sammee Tong in October 1964"
from an interview with Micky Jones: " In 1964, while I was playing with Trini Lopez, we shared the bill at the Olympia Theatre in Paris with The Beatles. As it turned out, they were just regular guys. We had a lot of fun together. While we were working together in Paris, I never dreamed they would have any success in America. I though they were OK but a bit on the bubble gum side." .
So........who IS this guy? It's fabulous, rare footage but...who took it? The first scene is Trini Lopez's band? The drummer looks like the guy from the opening. Loved to see him flip his drumsticks at the end, I had thought Keith Moon invented that. Is it "Mickey" or "Ricky" he says, referring to himself? Help me! (please and thank you)
@gividen51 his name is Micky Jones. He has drumed for many artist through the 60's and 70's Trini Lopez, Bob Dylan through his 1966 Tour, and the frist edition. He in a bunch of movies Like Total Recall and Sling Blade but there Minor Parts.
great clip...and the photo of micki with the beatles is great..never saw it and his footage is great too....trini was big in the 60's...is he still alive?
Wow, John appears to be using a Rickenbacker 350. That is essentially the full scale neck version of the 325 he is famous for playing. Which makes the one I own(350) all that much cooler now.
@MrEmannn John never had a 350- he had two 325s (one from '58, the other from'64) and a 325/12. Rick didn't produce the 350 until many years later. Awesome guitar all the same!
THE Beatles.....played ..40 ..shows in..PARIS.Olympia...from thursday 16th jan 1964 till feb 4th..MICKY JONES was there every night playing drums for= Trini LOPEZ... so the BEATLESknew micky jones 2yrs befor DYLAN

It definitely IS Mickey Rooney.
That's him in the photo with the Beatles at 0.19 seconds.

Seems to be some confusion here.
It's not Micky Jones.
It's the Hollywood actor MICKEY ROONEY, still around now at the age of 90.
He was a great friend of Judy Garland.
Rooney was performing onstage at this same Paris Olympia show in 1964.

@ngt81 Doesn't sound like Mickey Rooney.

No, Mick Jones (of Foreigner-fame) was playing in a group on this same bill as The Beatles. Plus he's British and the narrator is clearly American.
