McLaren was as turd. Johnny was being nice when he said "He was entertaining", it was out of respect for his death. McLaren destroyed the Pistols, and Sid, by being the worst manager of all time and not looking out for Sid as a friend. He used him, which was McLaren's only true talent, and always saw himself as a pioneer of punk. A self-serving twat, now nobody has to listen to his bullshit anymore, thank god.

You may have missed his point. Lydon is an intelligent man who has mellowed somewhat over the years, and as such he now has a way of issuing insults in a tactful manner. I think you need to read between the lines, Moises. Look at the written quote at 0:45 - "Malc was always entertaining" means he was always full of shit, and J.L. reinforces it by telling us to "remember that." "Above ALL ELSE...an entertainer." The missing him part was just being polite.

He turned Johnny against Glen, and then Paul & Steve against Johnny, AND he was the one who planned the disaster that was the '78 U.S. tour. He was only "managing" the Sex Pistols to 1. make a profit off of "this 'punk rock' thing", and 2. to keep Steve off of the streets doing crimes. He's no legend, he's a bastard, like Allen Klein!

Although I do not find Malcolm mclaren nearly as clever as I once did (as a more mpressionable teen; I still sense his originality and his daring. In particular; his healthy attitude toward failure and success I think was one which helped to ground him.

however i would like to correct rob zombie a bit. as it may be true that the ramones did help to give the punk sound a bit of a retouch, not to mention distributing that style more in a massive wave, it is also well documented that the sex pistols attribute their influence from the new york dolls, who by many rock historians pioneered the punk rock era. not to take away from any of these incredible bands, though, as i love them all respectively.
