I followed theses guys around for this tour, never did they disappoint. Very high energy show. Stewart is a huge part of that whole vibe with his sick up tempo beats.. The are the best threesome ever!!!!! If only they had stayed together, such a short run, damn they were good.
why is it that i have to turn my volume up to 50 to clearly hear copeland's and summers' voices through the mics? f*** the backup singers all you need is them
All very unique drummers who served their given music in an inventive and ultimately iconic fashion. No need to make it a silly competition. They were/are all brilliant.
@HughStirling Those are different kinds of styles - that appeal to different tastes. Stewart is playing over music that allows for a lot of improvisation. But it is his improvisation that is what we love.
@hazor777 7yeah i dont know them that well and im thinking, hmmm i coulda sworn that sting looks very young here and that this is way to good to be a new performance
Yes! Stewart is a great drummer! but he was " influenced by jazz " he doesnt necessarily "influence jazz drummers" He is influenced by Jazz and Reggae and uses those beats and fills in his playing.

Stuart Copeland is a great drummer, but such an asshole. I would have totaly punched him out if he ever treated me as bad as he treated Sting....what a GOOF.
well Stuart and Sting did argue a lot back in the days its true and it led to there break up ...but guess what ,it happens all the time with bands ,it happend with my band ..
Stewart Copeland is with Neil Peart the only rock drummers who has influenced jazz drummers.
a charleston playing very rare, an incredible groove and sound. without him Police isn't the police, his style is so unique that he is a very important part of the police identity.
right, he's a very very good drummer and a really important musician.
yea i also agree that him and neil are 2 of the most well rounded drummers. they play jazz rock pop reggae and thats just what they like to play they can probably play anything. my two favorite drummers
It's amazing. Stewart is always completely on beat, while playing violently or calmly. I don't know if it was a gift he was born with or just years and years of perfecting his skill. I do know that he was at his peak at Synchronicity tour.
As dear to my heart as this clip is, it features an inexcusable number of white people dancing.

Sting truly was too full of himself for this tour, which I think must have been 1983, the year of Synchronicity.
He was never as good The Police, and I've never forgiven him for breaking them up (and I'm sure he weeps at night knowing this).

OMG!!! Thanks for this!!! I am the guy with the embarrassing bow tie between 4:08 and 4:12. It was the 80's after all. Whoa, the memories!!!!!

I don't know how most rock drummers do it.
They must have major cuts, blisters, etc. on their hands all the time.
