I think people (in and outside of the industry) have had trouble fitting her in their little boxes, so she's done pop, rock, hard rock, pop, country, soul, folk, and now she's back to something that sounds like pop. I love her voice, and think she's done some great songs. I am looking forward to her jazz record when she turns 35 or so. ;-) She did a show at the Troubadour that is worth looking up.
