I was never a big fan of elvis until I started listening to his gospel. WOW!!!Now I am a BIG fan. And I am sure He is in heaven waiting for the rest of us to come.
Elvis will make heaven so joyful , I know it already is but can you even imagine being in his company . He is a Prince there . I loved him then , I love him now , he has brought me to my savior . Thank you Elvis .
Oh, Jackie I love this it is just too awesome. You just keep turnin out and we are grateful. Going straight to my favorites . Thanks again for all you do for us his fans forever.
My wife gave me the 68 Comeback DVD for Christmas and the audio to this number is much better played here on utube. That doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for posting, sounds great!
Thanks for posting i just love this Elvis gospel medley! Elvis could really sing gospel and make it so powerful! When he sings Farther Along it makes me cry it is so powerful!
From an Atheists point of view, Elvis certainly sings Gospel songs the best I've ever heard. He gave his very best for everyone to enjoy music, for years to come.
I love listening to his Gospel songs as much as any religious person. We're very lucky to have the gifts of Elvis.
Elvis performed this production number in his NBC 1968 Special, which was filmed on June 28, 1968, and aired on December 3, 1968. The songs contained are Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child (lead sung by Darlene Love), Where Could I Go But to the Lord, Up Above My Head, and Saved. The vocal and instrumental tracks were recorded June 20 or 21, 1968. Elvis lip-synched the number, and no audience was present during the filming. This medley is available on Memories The 68 Comeback Special
In my opinion, this is the greatest ever gospel medley. I' so very glad that Elvis decided to do a gospel medley for his historic, legendary and infamous Comeback Special. No one will ever be able to sing gospel songs as well or better than Elvis did. Elvis put all of his heart, passion, fire, intensity and soul into gospel songs when he sang them. Elvis will definitely always be the greatest gospel singer. His Comeback Special will always easily be the best musical program from the 1960's. 10*
