Back in the 60's we only had three 78's, this being one of them. The record was played an old Garrard deck, askew on a top of a Flatley clothes drier, plugged into the light fitting above - - such happy tech free days!
thanks for sharing! I remember my dad (RIP) singing this song at the table when I was a kid, I never could find this song until now! what a memory, thanks
Like many others, I've tried to find a copy of this this for years. I first heard it on a juke box in Pleasureland, Southport in the 50s. And have not heard it since..My friend and I nearly wore it out ! Thank you so much for bringing back many good memories..
This was one of the hardest records of Frankie's to find. I heard it once while in army in 1956 but never again. It took me 15 years to come across a copy. It should of been easyer in the UK as people have said it was on the "B" side of
Cool Water: which was a very big hit so lots of copies. In the States it was a flop with no flip side hit to help it.
After doing some checking I find that Phillips Records in the UK did team up "Bubbles with "Cool Water". This was common for Phillips to arange their recordinggs different from what Columbia did in the US.
I too think this was the B side of Cool Water. Memory is fickle but I seem to remember the vocal backing being more subdued. It doesn't matter though, I have been searching for this song for more years than I care to admit. Great to hear it again, it made my day.
I believe it was the "B" side to Cool Water. I don't really know. But definitely a "B" side here in England. Perhaps it was "B" to the first two words in this comment. Nevertheless a good song. I last heard it well over fifty years ago.
It may have been the "b" side of a record in england but in the States in was the "A' side of a recording that had "The Tarrier Song" as the "B" side. I had only heard this song once
in 1956 when I was in Basic Training in the Army. It took me 15 years to run down a copy of it. I really started collecting records the following year in 1957.

Cool!
I thought I'd heard just about every record Frankie Laine ever made and this is the second new one I just found on You Tube in the last 5 minutes!
Was this a Columbia single? When was it issued? Did it chart?
highnrising 3 years ago
yes it was a Columbia Recording made in 1955.
No it did not chart. I try to put recording on
here that I don't think many people whould have heard. Other people seem to have put most of his hits on so why deplicate them.
