Only a-ha out of all the bond singers could make this the end credits song and not the theme song. I This movie had my two favourite bond songs from an incredible male vocalist in Morten and a great female vocalist shown here.
Timothy Dalton was such a wonderful Bond. To anyone who might not know--The Living Daylights actually outperformed its predecessor A View To A Kill in the U.S. at the box office. L.T. Kill didn't fare as well and a several years long lawsuit between United Artists and Danjaq was ultimately the undoing of the Dalton era. SADLY. He was fantastic. This song should have been the theme to TLDaylights in the opening credits.
never would have expected such a lushly romantic song from the pretenders. that's what i love about james bond theme songs; it always pushes the artist in a direction that what they're commonly known. the man that chrissy hynde is describing in the song even rivals the legendary bond and when i think of bond i think timothy dalton and daniel craig own the crown although sean connery can never be forgotten even though there was a bond before him.
george lazenby, timothy dalton as the best bonds what a joke; the original 007 was the one and only, Sean Connery rocked as James Bond and he's the only true bond compared to any others
@12qw34er56rt Dalton was as good if not better as Connery. Moore brought a touch of comedy into the series and Brosnan fucked everything up. Craig is OK at best, better than Brosnan ever was.
Without a doubt, George Lazenby was the best Bond starring in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Diana Rigg was great, as was Telly Savalas. The plot line in his movie was continued in For Your Eyes Only, showing the grave of Mrs. Bond. It was also continued in The World Is Not Enough where the English translation of his family's slogan was revealed.
Dalton was highly underrated, but unfortunately, being a good actor doesn't help you when playing Bond. The general consensus puts Brosnan and Moore near the top of the list, so it's clear people want a cartoonish, predictable Bond. As soon as Bond becomes remotely like a human being, they head for the exits. The Bond of the novels was most like Craig. Gritty but vulnerable. Connery was so good that Fleming wrote his last Bond novels with him in mind.
@imdriver39 YOU ARE!!! Anything for a friend ... glad you enjoyed .... i'm gonna look you up on here and subscribe to yours as well ... much love to you!
Yes, one of my all-time favorite ballads. I concur with Jeffman61 that The Living Daylights is a great Bond movie. Here are my favorite Bond movies, listed in chronological order: From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Man WIth The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Casino Royale.
Sean Conery looks like an Arab, R Moore looks like an old woman, Timothy Dalton & Pierce Brosnan on the other hand were truly handsome men, the new one looks like a Russian-Slav.
@MrAugustus88 everybody ages nothing reverses the ageing process there is no fountain of youth we are not metal robots we are carbon cycle beings based on cellular divison some cells dont divide and nobody knows why thats what causes ageing .
And you are one of those that can judge how a "jew" looks like no doubt. Wasn't it enough Craig is blonde and blye-eyed? No he looks like a "russian-slave", rather than a "russian-tatar" or "russian-chechnyan" or whatever. You are disgusting and stupid to boot. What does a Greek know about how northern Europeans "look" like anyway?
You are flagged. Go rot in hell with your idol Hitler.
Anjelina Jolie's ugly...and has the most disgusting lips ( compare with Chrissie's) but Monica Belucci and Beyonce are not ugly... on the contrary - quite feminine !
You also hate your own life. Are you a troll by any chance?? In case you're not I feel sorry for you, but more sorry for those that have put up with your shit.
If there was a man I could dream of, I'd dream about a dream come true. If there was a man I could ever love, I'd wait a million years for someone just like you. All my life I've been belated. Never taking any chances...always hesitating. Where's the payoff? Where's the glory? Where's the one I'm holding out for? Was he walking through the door, the one that you walked through...if it isn`t you?
If there was a man I could dream of, I'd dream about a dream come true. If there was a man I could ever love, I'd wait a million years for someone just like you. Happy endings never find me! I'd put all my fantasies and hopes of love behind me. All my moments overdue but...If there was a man out there for me I wish it would be someone who could love me true. If someone was you...
This should have been a number 1 hit and a constant presence on radio for all time. This world tends to suppress the truly sweet and beautiful and anyone who dares shine a light into the darkness.
@raspberrybaggio Agree about Dalton being the best Bond, but D'abo best girl? Not by a long shot. She was a fine Bond girl, but nothing like Carey Lowell, Michelle Yeoh, Maud Adams, Barbara Bach, Eva Green, Honor Blackman, Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg and Halle Berry, who are far more memorable and magnetic.
@jojo34209 Until the advent of Craig Dalton was best, now they're kind of even, Dalton only missed out on having a script like Casino. D'Abo wasn't the best, but she had something over a couple of those on your list.
Funny, but based on their chemistry I thought Dalton and D'Abo would have made perfect Sparhawk and Ehlana, but then people would have compared her to her cousin, who did Conan with Arnie...
@Prod1Kh Nah, all those ladies walk circles around D'abo. The script was not the problem, both Dalton movies performed very well worldwide, it was the production company having financial troubles, hardly any different than what is going on now with Craig.
@jojo34209 Daylights was too complicated and it was all about a little drug deal. All the movies before that had been about a loony who wanted to blow up the world. Stromberg, Drax, Zorin (Blofeld clones) and Khan who wanted to detonate a nuclear bomb. Then we get Koskov's diamonds/drugs/weapons trade. It was a more complicated thriller, but it didn't feel as big. And you need to check the numbers again. Until Goldeneye Moonraker was the highest grossing Bond. Licence did not do well.
@Prod1Kh No, you need to read what I said better; I said worldwide, which 156 million dollars was a good take worldwide, regardless how it performed in the U.S. That is not a bad take for a 35 million dollar budgeted film.
@raspberrybaggio You probably aren't, Bond's portrayers are a source of eternal discussion. As for me, i'm sorry but Timothy Dalton is as good a Bond as a brick could be! No one is a better Bond than Mr. Connery. I even dare to believe that Lazenby is better than Dalton. Like so Connery - Brosnan - Moore - Craig (yes, he did a hell of a job in Casino)- Lazenby - Dalton. I don't think he embodies any of the traits of Bond. I've read some of the books and can never picture him in any scene!
I'm so in love when she is singing and so heartbroken when the song is over. I saw her this year at the House of Blues - Houston. The sound was incredible studio quality. The most unpretentious Pretender ever. What a lovely woman.
This also was one of my fav. Bond movies in the franchise's history. Tim Dalton was quite a change from Roger Moore in his interpretation of Bond. Dalton's portrayal was more dark and serious compared to Moore, (and Pierce Brosnan who followed him). Dalton's interpretation is comparable to Daniel Craig's who has done the last 2 releases. Not quite sure why Dalton only did two Bond films. He was much better than Brosnan, IMO.
there was going to be a third Dalton Bond film in 1991, but legal issues with the producers of the franchise, and a poor box office draw from license to kill, made them scrap that project and revamp the character in Goldeneye
@jeffman61 The studio was having internal problems, bankruptcy, being bought by another company, which stalled the franchise for a couple of years. By the time they were up & running again, Dalton felt he was too old and that too much time had passed so he politely backed out. It's really sad. If only he'd gotten cast in "For Your Eyes Only"...
@jeffman61 george lazenbys manager owned the pirate radio station caroline he told him dont sign a long term contract bond is becomeing passe, marlon brando tuned down lawrence of arabia he didnt want to sign a long term contract .
I agree. Many think that Dalton actually got the closest to how Bond was portrayed in the novels by Ian Fleming. Sadly Dalton's two movies (both incredible underrated) never did that well in the United States, so Dalton never got to do his 3rd movie. Personally I think Dalton should have made 3 more Bond movies at least in the early 90's.
Sadly we got Goldeneye in 1995, which made Bond a comicbook hero again. Brosnan was just Moore all over again but with 90's style.
@jeffman61 I LOVED dalton(and iMO he was the prototype for Craig) as for Moore and Brosnan those two where also two of my favorites. BUT I agree it was sad that dalton only did two =(
One of the better love theme songs in the James Bond movie history, IMO. You heard this slow theme played throughout the movie, then performed by chrissis hynde during the final credits.
craig sucks... hes just like matt damon in the bourne identity, dalton was bond, bond is all about the gadgets, Q, moneypenny etc this new bond shit is just like a regular action movie
@Aljess Agreed. The problem being because he did two COMPLETLY different type of bonds(He still played the charecter the same but the stories wern't simular. TLD was more a Classic bond story when LTK was more a...Well Craig bond lOL)
A few weeks ago I woke up to see the end credits scrolling by to the Bond movie and while still in a dreamy state heard this mesmerizing song for the first time. The video and song is one of the best ever.
what a beautiful song..please if anyone can send it to my in MP3 I'll be so thankful.....in my country is very dificult to do it....txs for adding this song..
Anyone: did Chrissie Hynde co-write this song with John Barry? A much bigger fan of the Pretenders than of 007, I somehow missed this 20 years ago. I can't believe I never heard this until now!
Sorry but the best Bond was Roger Moore

NO! It's pure class, and so is Chrissie, and NEITHER have f*** all to do with sexual orientation!

Dalton was highly under rated as Bond
Brosnan was a joke and his movies cartoons
Invisible cars indeed

Dalton IS Bond

Technically he WAS. I think Craig is Bond now. And a decade from now it'll be somebody else.

Better than the a-ha theme that was used for the film's main titles.

I love this song! So underrated and Tim Dalton was such an underrated Bond!

One of the best Bond songs, and totally agree Dalton was a superb bond.
cinebird 3 years ago 5
@Aljess Agreed. The problem being because he did two COMPLETLY different type of bonds(He still played the charecter the same but the stories wern't simular. TLD was more a Classic bond story when LTK was more a...Well Craig bond lOL)
JudasAngel666 1 year ago
@Aljess Dalton, was a fantastic Bond, but he was given two terrible Bond rolls, which no one could recover from...well that's what I think anyway

Anyone: did Chrissie Hynde co-write this song with John Barry? A much bigger fan of the Pretenders than of 007, I somehow missed this 20 years ago. I can't believe I never heard this until now!
nauort23 3 years ago
Yes, Chrissie Hynde co-write this song with John Barry and Where has Every Body Gone from the same soundtrack
