After reading the manga I came up with a (probably wrong) theory about the LSA (Large Scale Agressor, what the suits call Clovie). See when they are born they grow really fast and when as a baby they have a hard skin that protects them from anything Uncle Sam throws at them (escept The MOAB that JJ says it killed it). After a awhile the skin of the LSA grows Weaker and thats why an RPG makes a hole in the adult that appeared in the manga. Only speculation here...

It sounds robotic because when you slow down and filter it you can hear more clearly that it's edited and mixed w/ other animal noises.

Most monster movies use lion/bear roars and mix them, edit them, and/or combine them. In Clover's case it's likely they added some whale.

So while it's interesting it's likely caused by the brain's natural function of finding familiar phrases in sounds (or faces in images). It's called matrixing, I believe.
