This is a funny coincidence. In my Normative Ethics class I have to read Steven Darwall "The Second Persion Standpoint." In it he mentions this line "I wish to speak for the trees."

I came her via trailers for new movies, The Lorax film, but when I heard that line, I recognized it from the book. Weird how things fall in place sometimes :)

People art hating the once-ler so much, but they fail to realize, he/she represents the HUMAN population...Do we as human, not bring down everything else that stands in our way off success? Do we not destroy our environment in order to achieve money? In order to achieve, have success, and earn money, the once-ler killed off all the trees; it was his perfect trade-off.

i hope the new movie will turn out pretty good. but i hav 3 issues:

Kevin james is in it. seriously, how does he keep getting work?

the boy character has aged up to a teen, probably to hook the older crowd.

the girlfriend character, i hope she actually does something important than just being there for the sake of the boy having a girl. to me, its one hollywood cliche too many.

Out o'all the Seuss books I liked the Lorax.It's unusual in how the ambience in the beginning o'the story adds like a cryptic element 2 it.Clearly in this clip u dont c it b/c it's meant 4 little kids.But man,if they made this live action with Guillermo Del Toro directing & doing 2 it like wat he did in "Pan's Labyrinth" I'm sure he'd bring out that element.

I think the animated TV show The Boondocks borrowed Ed "Wunclers" last name from the 'Once-ler' in this film. The Wuncler family in Boondocks shares many similarites to the Once-lers here; they're both rich and dont give a shit about anything as long as they make profit. Huey tries to warn Ed and his best friend Gin about the reprucussions of their plans constantly (as well as every other character on the show) and they always pay him no mind. Anyone else notice this?
