Wait... so the owners of these cars won't even touch bird shit when it gets on their car? They call this guy to clean it. Yeah... I think it is a rich person thing.
Seriously, $10,500 is ridiculous. It's just a rich person thing. I can find a detailer in Florida that uses top shelf products, is passionate about his job as a detailer and and pay him 98% less. It's like paying for a pair of $2,000 Gucci sunglasses that were made by the same factory in China that makes $10 sunglasses for Wal-Mart. They might as well get a new paint job while they are at it. But that might cost them the price of a house.
LOL. Personally, I prefer myself to do all my detailing for my car. I wash, dry, clay bar and wax regularly. I wash my car pretty much once a week, 4 to 5 times a month. I had a friend who thought that was a bit excessive, but I told him that I paid decent money for my car and I intend to keep it looking nice. So many people let their vehicles go to shit by not performing simple care and maintenance. I get enjoyment out of making my car look nice.
Paul Dalton is good at what he does, that's why he has the reputation he does. Say what you like about how outdated he is, but this video may be old and regardless, the man knows his stuff.

Everybody has an opinion on how to do cars but how many of you are getting paid for it? Not many. Shut the fuck up and don't watch the video if you don't like it!

Whether or not it is worth the money, the customer willingly brings him their car and is happy with the outcome. Everyone wins. I think its more of a trust issue with who to clean your very expensive car. I'm sure the $50 detail down the road would make it look the same, but once they scratch it, its over.
@Pontiac2001GT ...I know one thing, I would not let any old teenager wash my high end automobile. Let him clean his Dad's car...dropping the cloth on the ground, using dish detergent for soap, drying the car with some old rag or maybe his torn long johns, scratching the paint and making the swirls worse, etc. If cleaning a car is so easy, then why do so many of them have horrible swirls? It only takes one bad wash to screw the paint job on even a brand new car. Yeah right, let him clean yours.
Don't know why others are complaining about how bad his detailing is. He built his reputation and is now allowed to wash these expensive cars. None of his customers seem to care so he's getting the benefits.

Sorry to everyone here. But I have to say I´m even better than this guy, I wash my whole car only with a little toothbrush and wax it with a little ear cleaner aplicator. Also I wipe out the wax with a earphones sponge. That´s detailing!!!
lmao wax on by hand do you wax off by hand when your done?? lol it goes to show you that the more the money people have the dumber they are and if you can get 10,000 us dollars for 1 detail more the power to you!! i' have been detailing cars for 30 year and from what i can tell is this guy ant the sh!t he's just full of it..lmao.. p.s. get a real buffer!!! what a joke!!
@james3765733 not at all but i invite the detail king to the U.S. for a detail challenge and we'll detail car's that are actually dirty..lol.. and he can use all his bells and whistle products and I'll use walmart's finest product's and and see who does a better job!!
@johnnybullPWAD he applies the wax by hand because it gives him way more control over how it is applied, it also allows him to apply it more accurately. Very important when your using the best wax in world $10,500 and there are only two tubs of it in all of Britain. The idea is to use the shit as sparingly as possible while still getting the best results.
I'm surprised that he would use a towel to dry the car. I "rinse-dry" my car by using a hose, without an attachment at low pressure, and "run the water off" the car from top to bottom, followed by using a low powered leaf blower.
Art form? All you detailers think so highly of yourselves. Try learning a trade that takes years to master, proper apprenticeship, rather than a months course, then you'll realise what skill is!

I details car too, put i;m not as expensive as him, prices start at £750.00 upto almost £2000. Just expanding the busines to have a depot and 4 mobile vans.
2k job is a depot job and takes 2 days to complete.
Its an art form, compare this guys work with an amateur (same products) and you will see an obvious difference.
He mainly using Zymol glazes which are No1, there is nothing better on the market (world renovned in the industry as the number 1, although i happen to agree),
Nobody ever thinks about the insurance he has for his business. Imagine if a claim came in for one of those 200K+ cars. It would bankrupt you. Thats why its so much money for high end cars to be detailed. I personally would not touch any of those cars with out good insurance.
Seems very overpriced to me considering that many of the cars that he works on are already practically brand new, have better paint jobs (ie- no orange peel), and are not daily drivers being exposed to rain/salt/snow/etc. I am perfectly happy with the Klasse twins and P21S 100% carnauba on my cars. Remember a lot of it has to do with prepping the paint and getting contaminants out to obtain great results
@APBGrrl Obviously you have missed the point, or just not watched the video properly. A lot of these cars had swirls in the paint work already and he has taken them to a condition better then when they where new
@Aliasify I did watch the entire video all the way through and I detail for a hobby, myself so yes, I understand this- did you even read the last line of my comment? Usually very expensive cars have a better paint job (including prep, paint and clear) than a mass produced automobile. If i had any of these cars in the video, you can believe me there would be no swirls on my paint- my 10 year old (outside kept C5) does not even have swirls...
hay"two thumbs up to u man!!!all the way from chicago,il (shakey)the best in the mid-west!!! man u r the freakin best in the world i would love to work with u one day before i get to old!!(emersont69@yahoo.com)
@mustang50dominates you will see in this video the polishing is done undercover , you can wash a car in the sun as long as it doesn't dry out , but i only wash cars for a living , ps he is that good .
@mustang50dominates judging from what he does after the wash and the products he uses i doubt it matters... and also its uk... moist air .. quite clean - not much shit and dust flying around in the air like in my country
@mustang50dominates washing in the sun is fine as long as you don't let it dry in the sun, he also probably uses filtered water so there won't be much water spots
you guys think he's jus using expensive stuff and that's all there is to it. but if you're a car refinisher or a detailer, you'll know he got it down to a science. after all, all these guys who own the best of the best cars wont keep coming back or even referring their contacts and friends to a dud. that's how it works in the paint/detailing business.
He's only using 1 bucket.....and imagine being a rich person who nearly suffers a stroke because a bird took a dump on his car they ring this gut to come down to them on the side of the road, wonder how many people in todays economy could afford this level of service.
This is such a great story that I was shocked that the guy broke the very first rule of detailing a car. That is, don't ever wash the car in direct sunlight! Direct sunlight can dry the water before it can be wiped dry and will create water spots. Admit the rest of the process would take out the spots, so maybe not a big deal/
@gatorcellman your forgetting one major factor. I believe he is in England , and we all know if the sun is out there it wont be for long. England has like 4 hours of sun per year. I believe
Nice guy, but he did a car for me, took a couple fo weeks longer than he should have and charged $1000 for a mediocre job. I couldn't recommend him, and suspect that he may be a victim of his own success. You need to spend 5k now to keep his interest it seems. Just my experience.
Im a car detailer by trade and I can tell u I kno NO ONE who would pay $5 grand in any money to get their car detailed lol. but all the more I' really like to hang out with this guy for a day, he must see some lovely cars.
@aarmit1 Because I don't detail cars for a living. And my point was it's unnecessary to use those types of waxes and polishes that cost that much. Do you really think any wax is worth that much? Give me a break.
Paul you do some extreme work detailing a car, but all the cars you are doing are expensive cars that are clean to begin with, yeah they have swirl marks in the clear coat which does not take 72 hours to remove. can you please show some videos of a normal everyday driver car, that a normal person can afford so we can really see your skills, and not on cars that only come out once or twice every 6 months.
Using hyper-expensive products does not make you a PRO.
But using such products in the ignorant UK certainly is a novelty that makes you look like a distinctive pro.
Do this in the States, and you're nothing special.
Oh yeah....it's like introducing vindaloo and chicken masala into the UK ages ago. Wow!! What a novelty then! INdian food!...mmmm...so intellectual and exotic (typical whitemen).
@zizzy60 You're right, using expensive products does not make you a pro, but being Paul Dalton, with his experience, makes him a pro. He is simply the best. He marketed himself the best, and he provides the highest quality of work. See his work in person. Sure, a small number of detailers can match his quality, but none have ever marketed themselves as good as Paul. That makes him the best.
If you had the money for this kinda car chances are you don't need to work a day in your life...so why not buy 50,000$ wax and do it yourself? I know if i had a Ferrari and unlimited money, I would never let this guy touch it, nor any family member touch it, nor any wife/friend etc touch it.
@becauseicanafford I sent my old Mini Cooper on my private plane , on the way to Paul for a routine wash. I believe in the best, even for my old cars. Paul is the best, CON but I like it. he talk shit
I bet his shit still smells like shit though, isn't this the guy who "detailed" his dyson vacuum cleaner ?.
I clean my Morris Marina with ground down caviar, infused with the droppings of the Dodo bird, and only rinse it with Volvic, but at least i use two buckets.
Paul Dalton's work really is an aspiration to me, I am a professional valeter at Jaguar and find the work and detailing more of a pleasure than a job. To do this properly it needs to be a passion in the blood to ensure the best possible detailing. I like to think I do a good job, where my limits tend to extend to detailing lifted door handles and claybar-ing brake calipers. Then you see Paul's work....wow! Well done Paul, I am always searching in your footsteps!

how does it make financial sense if the wax only lasts 6 months? at £6k per tub, it would have to last 240 times longer than a £25 tub would, to payback. good luck to the lad if his gimmick is pandering to the egos of the car owners, and he is making a hefty margin when using this stuff.
Paul Dolton is the man!!!!!! Who ever hates on him is just a jealous utter moron who can't detail a car for shit. The very expensive wax he is using is Zymol Royale (Correct me if I am wrong).
I wonder if he will clean a cheap car too

I personally would not touch any of those cars with out good insurance.

zatro 10 months ago 3
Seems very overpriced to me considering that many of the cars that he works on are already practically brand new, have better paint jobs (ie- no orange peel), and are not daily drivers being exposed to rain/salt/snow/etc. I am perfectly happy with the Klasse twins and P21S 100% carnauba on my cars. Remember a lot of it has to do with prepping the paint and getting contaminants out to obtain great results
APBGrrl 11 months ago
@APBGrrl Obviously you have missed the point, or just not watched the video properly. A lot of these cars had swirls in the paint work already and he has taken them to a condition better then when they where new
Aliasify 11 months ago
@Aliasify I did watch the entire video all the way through and I detail for a hobby, myself so yes, I understand this- did you even read the last line of my comment? Usually very expensive cars have a better paint job (including prep, paint and clear) than a mass produced automobile. If i had any of these cars in the video, you can believe me there would be no swirls on my paint- my 10 year old (outside kept C5) does not even have swirls...

mustang50dominates 11 months ago 41
@mustang50dominates you will see in this video the polishing is done undercover , you can wash a car in the sun as long as it doesn't dry out , but i only wash cars for a living , ps he is that good .

@mustang50dominates judging from what he does after the wash and the products he uses i doubt it matters... and also its uk... moist air .. quite clean - not much shit and dust flying around in the air like in my country

@mustang50dominates washing in the sun is fine as long as you don't let it dry in the sun, he also probably uses filtered water so there won't be much water spots
bludika 3 months ago
you guys think he's jus using expensive stuff and that's all there is to it. but if you're a car refinisher or a detailer, you'll know he got it down to a science. after all, all these guys who own the best of the best cars wont keep coming back or even referring their contacts and friends to a dud. that's how it works in the paint/detailing business.

foxdmulder 1 year ago
This is such a great story that I was shocked that the guy broke the very first rule of detailing a car. That is, don't ever wash the car in direct sunlight! Direct sunlight can dry the water before it can be wiped dry and will create water spots. Admit the rest of the process would take out the spots, so maybe not a big deal/

Nice guy, but he did a car for me, took a couple fo weeks longer than he should have and charged $1000 for a mediocre job. I couldn't recommend him, and suspect that he may be a victim of his own success. You need to spend 5k now to keep his interest it seems. Just my experience.

Now.....it's nothing special anymore.
zizzy60 1 year ago

MKRM27 1 year ago
Paul Dolton is the man!!!!!! Who ever hates on him is just a jealous utter moron who can't detail a car for shit. The very expensive wax he is using is Zymol Royale (Correct me if I am wrong).
