This album came out just as I was dumped by my girlfriend at the time.... It holds a special place in my heart because of the way the songs were written "just for me"... all of my moods captured in one album! Sabbath were always, and will always, be something extra special, and this album their most special - even if it is a little less "out there" than their other works

Technical Ecstasy was a great album. A more mainstream sound than the heaviness of old, granted, but nonetheless brimming with good songs. But it sold poorly and seems to have gained a reputation as something of a turkey over the years. But there is some scorching fretboard work from Iommi on this track.

Anyways Techincal Ecstasy is amazing.. Dirty Women has to have one of the best outros in a rock song ever... its like free bird.. minus the fact Iommi was obviously the sole guitarist and he layered soooo well

Critics blasted this LP in '76, I was 16 then and bought it anyway and it was a good LP then and sounds better 35 years later...just a more polished Sabbath. Rock/Metal in '76 was different than in '72...UFO, Rush, Thin Lizzy, Scorpions and others were still backseat bands to Zepp, Sabbath and Aerosmith at that time and many of the above bands were just coming into their own. But the 2nd metal wave was already happening and Sabbath was right there with them ahead of the curve. It still rocks!!!
