I am absolutely devastated and saddened by these facts ... cancer is a difficult disease .. I will pray for Tony ... for your your fight against the disease ... your fans want you to remain here ...
This album came out just as I was dumped by my girlfriend at the time.... It holds a special place in my heart because of the way the songs were written "just for me"... all of my moods captured in one album! Sabbath were always, and will always, be something extra special, and this album their most special - even if it is a little less "out there" than their other works
Technical Ecstasy was a great album. A more mainstream sound than the heaviness of old, granted, but nonetheless brimming with good songs. But it sold poorly and seems to have gained a reputation as something of a turkey over the years. But there is some scorching fretboard work from Iommi on this track.
Idk some people appreciate that guy.. I on the other hand did not enjoy hearing black sabbath turn in michael jackson metal.. the moment he took over vocal arrangements...
Anyways Techincal Ecstasy is amazing.. Dirty Women has to have one of the best outros in a rock song ever... its like free bird.. minus the fact Iommi was obviously the sole guitarist and he layered soooo well
@Rcarroll15 Agreed. Ozzy era Sabbath is the only Sabbath I listen to. And theyre coming back in 2012. Can't fucking wait. All hail the greatest musicians to ever form a band!
do any of you know what it's like to lay in the middle of a street unconscious for hours until, through some miracle, you mother finds you and rushes you to the hospital where you're then pronounced dead, but then revived? To have to learn how to walk again? To have to learn how to talk again? And to be completely illiterate for years? I do. This album means a lot to me.
Critics blasted this LP in '76, I was 16 then and bought it anyway and it was a good LP then and sounds better 35 years later...just a more polished Sabbath. Rock/Metal in '76 was different than in '72...UFO, Rush, Thin Lizzy, Scorpions and others were still backseat bands to Zepp, Sabbath and Aerosmith at that time and many of the above bands were just coming into their own. But the 2nd metal wave was already happening and Sabbath was right there with them ahead of the curve. It still rocks!!!
this was one of my favorite obscure classics when i was i junior high and bought the album new -- this kind of music will ALWAYS sound better than the "idol-like" junk being put out these days
@iambri1965 agreed in-deed !! also in my top 10 all-time bands - they could pull off most anything, from super heavy to ballad, and put thier own unique sound into it.
@akibubba1 Another totally Killer band similar to Sabbath from Florida around 1970 was called BANG. (The American band) never made it big but wow they were good! They can be googled.
my dad told me to look up this album, im not disapointed!!

Excellent guitar work by Iommi. In fact probably one his best solos out of all his works with Sabbath.
