It depends on where in Australia you are from. Most Victorians and South-Australians also pronounce it incorrectly.

Bathurst only has one "h" in it, so how can it be Bath-hurst?

The second syllable does not start with the "h" sound. Just because Peter Brock said it that way does not make it correct.

i like the hsv purely because they leave a huge gap for a shitload of mods and tuning unlike the fords which use the same engine (until recently with the 5 litre coyote engine) but then again i like ford because they can harness more and more power from one engine rather then trying to put a bigger engine in there cars (like the holdens). but i would be extremely happy if i owned both fpv and hsv :) just saying
