I know, i know there is air and that the ecosphere is entirely enclosed, i just don't believe this one is an ecosphere. This has one little shrubby branch, and fish, that doesn't make sense.
Every time the shrimp molts it gets smaller. The amount of algae the "orb" produces is insufficient for growth. Overall it's an extremely poor quality of life until the shrimp expires due to the conditions. Honestly....where do you think the wastes are going?
The fish feed on the algea - grown from sun(light) - algea photosynthesize and give off oxygen for shrimp - shrimp waste is eaten by bacteria - bacteria give off carbon dioxide for algea and the process continues
Yes - it is completely self sustaining. The plant grows algae because of the oxydisation with the air and then the shrimps eat the algae. They can last for up to 15-20 years.
@Prezzybox how much was it? and whered u get it? i remember seeing one when i was younger like maybe around 8 years ago and it was in some discovery store in the mall in san antonio but times change and im in el paso now (frekin desert) and i didnt know what they where called so i couldnt look it up when i was smaller so whered u get it at?
@Prezzybox In the wild they can live up to 20 years. In these torture devices the average is about 2 years as the shrimp slowly starves to death. And the only reason why they even make it to two years is because they are an extremely hardy shrimp. Most other shrimp would expire much much sooner.

This sucks! This is not an ecosphere. The top of this sphere was not shown because its not a closed system, someone put fish inside.
JamesA2323 4 days ago
@JamesA2323 All you have to do is look at the other videos of this. It's completely enclosed, there's a bit of air on top of the water.

I don't like it. Mankind eventually becomes a hazard to all life. Leave animals and plants where they belong, where they can flourish - in the wild.
