  • i need some help i want to upgrade my processor on my emachine(people say there bad but mine hasnt had any problems in like the 8 mouths i've had it) its a amd processor, AMD ATHLON II X2 DUAL-CORE @ 1.80GHZ. could u tell me any dual-cores @ 3.2ghz or atleast better than 1.80ghz becuase im sick of nortan telling me im maximum cpu when i playing shit like terraria.... i have 0 virus's

  • @956Joeboy The only AMD Athlon X2 CPUs that are clocked at 1.8GHz are the ultra-low voltage 'u' series microprocessors. A cheap CPU clocked at 3.2GHz (~$70) with the same socket type would be the AMD Athlon II X2 260 Regor. It's maximum core voltage, however, is higher than that of the 'u' series CPU as is it's thermal design power (it will run hotter). So you MAY need to upgrade your PSU, although it shouldn't be necessary, and you'll probably want to invest in some better cooling.

  • @iPT2gGeec oh yeah i forgot to mention its a athlon II x2 260u dual core and so your saying that the amd athlon II x2 260 regor is the name of one that i can use i think my motherboard is called nforce 430 but im not shure i dont know my socket type thow

  • @956Joeboy Okay, now that I know the motherboard model, the processor I mentioned won't work and you won't have much luck upgrading your CPU. The motherboard's FSB is only 1000MHz Hyper Transport but your current CPU's is is 1800MHz (not sure how that's possible) but anyway, most CPUs are now 4000MHz which means if you want a new CPU, you're probably going to need to upgrade your MoBo (continued)...

  • @iPT2gGeec i found out useing a progrm called CPU-z or CPUID that my motherboard is American Megatrends, Inc Verson p01-a2 i seen a few webpages calling it a AMI P01-A2

will this change anything? i have a skype so i can screenshot it to to and my socket type for my cpu is, Socket AM3 (938) and it says its 25w and core voltage is 2.220V

  • @956Joeboy I can't find that motherboard's specs. Read my previous 2 comments. They tell you what you need to look for when upgrading a CPU and I have a strong feeling you'll need to upgrade your motherboard as well. The previous comments were based on your old information (that your motherboard was an ASUS M2N) but the info I gave is still viable for how to make sure a CPU/motherboard will be compatible.

  • @iPT2gGeec were did you get asus from american megatrends? but other than that is changeing motherboards hard?

  • @956Joeboy if i upgrade does that mean i will have a new integrated graphics? becuase i would like something better... and if i upgrade would my pc have a better bus speeds

  • @956Joeboy If you don't want integrated graphics, buy a graphics card. They use more power which means you'll most certainly need a more power PSU and make sure that your motherboard has the proper PCI slots. Integrated graphics come from the motherboard, not the CPU. Bus speed also has to do with the motherboard, not the CPU. Check the boards' specs to find out their bus speeds.

  • @iPT2gGeec i know that is dont have to do with cpu but can you recomend me a good motherboard that i can put in my computer because im planning on pretty much keeping the case and upgradeing it all to gameing stuff i know how to put it together i just dont know what to get

  • @956Joeboy If you're looking to put all high-end components in a basic eMachine chassis, you will get shitty performance and your system will not last long at all. High-end parts generate high amounts of heat. A basic OEM case will absolutely be too small and will no doubt provide insufficient cooling. You can get cheap gaming chassis with semi-sufficient cooling for around $60USD. Visit iBuyPower or CyberPower. They have custom configurators that will ensure parts are compatible.

  • @iPT2gGeec why is my motherboard so outdated wtf my computers not even a year old but how hard would it be to get new motherboard??

  • @956Joeboy ... If you want to upgrade your MoBo and CPU and make sure they're compatible, make sure the socket types are the same (AM3, AM2+, etc.), Hyper Transports/FSB are compatible (FSB listed for motherboard can be higher than the CPU's Hyper Transports), and the board normally lists the supported CPU types. You're board is old/cheap (nothing wrong with being cheap) so it's not that compatible with current CPU's. Your best bet is to upgrade the board as well if you want a new CPU.

  • @iPT2gGeec but is the ami po1-a2 better than what i thought i was, nforce 430?

  • @iPT2gGeec is there anything bigger i can get like a quad-core?

  • I have an intel core i7 870 @ 2.93 GHz and want to upgrade my current ram to something like G.skill ripjaws-x 16 gb (4x4gb). Is this viable/possible?

  • @XiiSam Upgrading RAM really has nothing to do with your CPU but rather your motherboard. Make sure your motherboard is compatible with the memory you want to install and as long as it is, you shouldn't have a problem.

  • @iPT2gGeec I guess I was wondering if it would go to waste. Thankyou, Is there more i need to look for than just ddr3 ( what my current ram is).

  • @99tare Unless you have a hybrid motherboard (which are very uncommon) no.

  • can i install an intel processor on amd computer

    my processor is amd

can i now install a intel processor
