And the influences of classical music contributed by Jon Lord make the whole thing incomparably brilliant...

With DP, Led Zeppelin I agree. But Queen wasn´t heavy band. For me typical hard/heavy rock bands are Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Judas Priest, etc.
@RCbeastly Actually I was wrong - Blackmore used a Gibson 335. His first Strat was a second hand one he bought from Eric Clapton's guitar tech in 1969. It had a Telecaster neck. Ritchie has said that it took him a couple of years to get used to a Strat.
